An utter gem!
Free and great fun too. The Polar Bear in the front reception made me cry when I was 5 years old.
A must for anyone wishing to enlighten their children without the hassle of having to venture into London.
An unusual natural history museum that started as a very wealthy man’s private collection. Much of this museum’s charm lies in it eccentric mix of the educational and down right weird. The extensive range of stuffed pet dogs will live on in my memory for many years.
A good time to visit is just before Christmas when they normally exhibit the Wildlife photographer of the year competition before it moves to London.
This museum provides lots of children activities at weekend and school holidays and a little cafe offering a range of snacks.
The car park can get very full at weekends.

This is one of my favourite places in the whole world! I’ve been here four times now, and I am still finding out new things and enjoying the greatest hits!
This is a great place to bring your kids, but you don’t need mini humans to make this a great day out. I’ve come here with groups of friends in our thirties, and I think we have more fun than any kids we could find to bring along. But if you have kids, there’s activities they can follow in each room so they learn at the same time as laughing about the funny looking birds and screeching at the insects.
A highlight for me is the Mexican fleas in the upstairs gallery (look inside the wooden cupboards by the entrance of the room) who are dressed up in traditional costumes!
My personal favourite is a seal that looks incredibly like David Gest.
The cafe is good for a snack and a cup of coffee afterwards, though normal museum prices - they have to make their money somewhere!

Have been to the museum lots of time having spent my childhood in Tring and i always seem to see something different each time. My children love going here and as its free to get it its a great way to spend an afternoon.
Its great walking in and seeing the huge lion looking at you and the selection of animals and words is staggering.
There is a gift shop which is quite expensive so i tend to try and steer clear, there is a cafe outside and toilets. There is a car park right next to the museum which can get quite full at times.
Certain special events are held at the museum from time to time. The children can take a clipboard and answer a questionaire as they wander round.

This museum is free to enter, and is a fun filled day out for all the family.
This museum displays stuffed animals from all over the world, and you can see pretty much every animal/bird/insect/creature you can imagine here, from whales and giraffes to gorillas, tigers, and even butterflies!
There are beaultiful grounds outside to eat a packed lunch, or there are refreshments available, and a little gift shop which is reasonably priced.
Kids and grown ups alike will love this place!
