decent food, nice interior design, terrible management. food's pretty good and reasonably priced, wine or rather plonk is overpriced. beware: they do take credit cards but there is a 3% surcharge. that's about double what visa/mastercard charge. i get cash only, but a surcharge is just bad taste.
Yup - Good! Nice interior, light and airy (do I remember a gold ceiling? I certainly remember folded paper birds hung from the ceiling). Its modern and thankfully unlike the rash of Vietnamese restaurants in Berlin - they do NOT offer sushi! They use fresh ingredients, make the food to order. I found the chicken, sweet potato (or was it pumpkin?) curry particularly good. They aren't afraid to use lots of fresh herbs. Even if you are feeling full, I urge you to leave room for dessert. The sticky rice with mango was delicious!
Went here for a post NYE dinner with friends. Liked the food a lot -- I had summer roll and grilled egg plant (YUM).
Drink-wise, tiger beer and a Vietnamese espresso (highly, highly recommend it).
4/5 stars because Chi Sing is definitely on the pricey side and the service was somewhat sluggish. Don't get me wrong - everyone was very, very nice, but they constantly forgot our orders
In my opinion, the menu is not boring (as the tags on here suggest), but it could also use a couple more options. Though I didn't take of points for that -- in any way, I recommend you check out the daily suggestions.
Everyone who usually goes to Monsieur Vuong (which is just a couple blocks away), should really check out this place as well. I'll be back for sure. Also to try some of the wines.
Great Food and Location see my german articel ;-)
Somehow the place is connected with "Si An" in the Ryke Str. Same food, same taste, same style - the only difference is, you can actually reserve a table here.
The daily dishes - as in Si An - is over spiced (not as in spicy & hot, but as in everything tastes the same in the end).
The idea of doing two dishes a day is not really creative - and once you have had something to eat there it tends to taste exactly the same mainly, with just a little variation - which means, the place is quite ok the first time you go there, but everytime after that, it tends to be boring.
Like in Si An, the waiters have forgotten what they are in the business for - Service.
Our waiter came to our table, took our orders, and not once did he look at any of the three of us. On the table next to us, the people who only wanted to have some wine and drinks whilst talking were asked to leave - the waiter actually said "This is a restaurant, and not a bar" - which might be correct, but in the end, there were three empty tables, because the people actually did leave in the end.
The restaurant is very sleek, and clean, and the design is extremely cold and minimalist.
Don't fall in the trap. It is expensive, and the quality is not all that good.
The one star I give because they have an extensive Tea menu. Maybe they should specialise on that.
Maybe, we are just spoilt by the great other vietnamese restaurants in Berlin.
Was here for dinner. The place was packed and we had (as seems to be common in Mitte) a celebrity sitting right next to us. Oh well, it could be worse! ;-) Really good vietnamese food. Fairly generic design as so many Asian places in Berlin seem to have. At the same time, the vibe was good and the food was really good. I was here for the meal and they didn’t disappoint. As urbanomad commented, their wine list was quite good. I also can’t remember what I had but it was really good and fit well with the meal. When in the mood for Vietnamese food, I will definitely have this place high up on my list.
I had lunch here today which I thoroughly enjoyed. The décor is fabulous.
I ordered a warm noodle salad with beef, everything was incredibly tasty. I also had a nice glass of Sauvignon Blanc from South Africa. It was a perfect wine, unfortunately I haven’t got the details of the wine… It was an intense golden colour with honey, orange rind, apricot but not sweet.
I will definitely return to this place again, especially if someone else is paying as it’s not cheap.
