Often visit this place whenever I am nearby, good beer and a traditional old school landlord and landlady, locals seem to like a bit of banter which I find makes you feel welcome, food is basic good pub grub , not the ritz but not the plastic faceless tat that you can get elsewhere,
And as a bonus I am sure this place is haunted !!! Had some wired experiences at times

A truly awful pub. Staff are rude, surly and uncaring. Unless you are one of their very few favoured regulars you are ignored and passed over. The place is dirty and unclean and the service diabolical. We waited over an hour for food and in the end never received it.
I would strongly recommend anyone to avoid this place like the plague. I really wanted to rate this with zero stars but unfortunately the software wouldn’t allow it

i found this pub a trully enjoyable experience, i have just returned from australia and missed my pubs with a bit of atmosphere, the witch and wardrobe delivers, the staff and locals were very friendly, and the service was great

If you like your beer serve with a side order of attitude make a beeline for this pub. An old guard 'local' local... Although the beer and food were reasonable, it seemed that by standing at the bar and ordering I was rudely interrupting the staff's conversation with the regulars. Being insulted by a patron on the way out made a return visit an unlikely prospect. Go and find somewhere else if you are on the Waterside in Lincoln and want a pint.

Would not rate this pub at all if did not have to. Attracted by the history of it and the location but I found the staff's manners to their customers are unfriendly and dismissive. I know it's a business but they want your money without offering a welcoming and professional customer service. They couldn't get our order right, did not come and tell us our order was unavailable and we waited nearly an hour, then left having been told we could not have a refund. Just enjoy the view from outside the pub then find another one.

Absolutely terrible service, would not reccomend. VERY rude manager and barworker, said "F*" an awful lot. Terrible service - waiting over an hour for a SANDWICH and refused to give our money back. the pub had ran out of fish yet he kept taking orders for fish and chips - greedy fat man who just wants your money. Unwelcoming and terrible interior. Its a shame this riff raff have been allowed to spoil an otherwise beautiful city with lovely and welcoming people. Please avoid so your day is not ruined, why not try one of the other lovely near by pubs or cafés?

This pub has changed a lot lately. Has a tendencey of nagging you to buy more drinks or get out even if you've only just finished the one you ordered. I've had this from personal experience(though completely understandable considering they were busy but did put me off buying another so I meerly left) and aparently the new owner ship is worse for this, it's not a pub that seems to encourage you to hang around and enjoy the atmosphere unless your buying food or constantly ordering drinks. I can understand if they are busy but it is really unwelcoming and unnecessary to come up to customers who have just finished a drink and say "You ready to buy another drink, if not, get out." Business is business but manners and a little kindness will keep customers. Needless to say, a lot of us will be looking for a new pub.

This is an old, attractive medieval building on the river, just behind the Green Dragon. Unfortunately inside it is a bit run down and dilapidated.
In the day it seems to attract families with young children and in the evening older clientelle, probably locals.
An old magician called Wally Sleight wanders about in here in the day trying to get customers to buy him a pint in exchange for a trick.
Unfortunately there are never any seats out of the riverside but I think (not sure) they have a small garden.
Anyway this is another for the ghost guide:
Not very exciting I am afraid.
The pumps have been known to activate themselves, and ice is thrown around by an invisible hand.
Interesting that the Green Dragon, almost next door, has pumps that switch off. Maybe it is the same ghost playing tricks or prefers the beer at the Witch to the Dragon.
