We've been to Harvester "restaurants" many times in the past and, although the menu never really seems to change, it was good enough for us and cheap, which is often the reason we use this time of place.
Not any more I'm afraid.
Just about EVERYTHING at this place was STICKY, from the seating, tables, doors & door ways (!!), cutlery and menus - that's the FIRST thing that put me off because it's obvious that the hygiene in the reception / eating areas just isn't up to scratch, so God knows what the kitchen's like!
Secondly they cram far too many covers into small areas to maximise profit - not a good ploy in my opinion and makes for an uncomfortable experience.
Lastly, the food.
I cannot describe what they served-up because it barely resembled the glossy prints shown in the menu but let's just say that the chicken that I chose had "under tastes" of every, other meat that was on the menu.
I can only assume that the cooking medium or pan / implements were the same for every dish for this to be so.
One word of praise: the staff, young as most of them are, do appear to be trying very hard but judging from the expression that I saw on our waiter's face, he's no more impressed with what comes out of the kitchens than I was!!
There doesn't appear to be anyone really in-charge though.
Would I go to a Harvester again?
Naaah!
There's a van by the road on my way to work that's probably churning out better food. stevmk2

I was pleasantly surprised by this Harvester, having met some dodgy ones in the past. The building is a nice traditional thatched pub. The bar and restaurant areas are both quite large, and there is seating outside in good weather.
I was pleasantly surprised by the menu, the basic format is: pick a grilled meat, choose a sauce, add a side of your choice (rice, mash, jacket potato, fries, etc) and a salad. The nice thing it is that all the menu items include a calorie figure, so you can chose to have a full rack of ribs at 1240kcal or a ½ spit-roast chicken for 310kcal.
The food was very tasty, and the famous salad cart was good too.
Good sized car park, relatively healthy food and they do take-away: recommended.

Anyone who's been to a harvester will know how these places work. Excellent value, great food and that super salad cart. Flame grilled meat with a crisp salad and a nice glass of wine - can it be beaten?!

AS anyone who has ever been to a Harvester says – the salad is amazing and indeed it is amazing.
The atmosphere in this harvester is really nice and it feels very warm and welcoming. The staff are all really nice and can give you great recommendations on what to order. Personally I go for the platters which are great value for money .
It is reasonably priced, parking is ample and free and you will have a really nice meal. The food is all very nice, well cooked and hot. I always go here with my family as it has a real family vibe. Very nice.

The food is flame grilled and cooked as you like it. Their salad cart is fantastic with a good range to choose from.
The atmosphere is very welcoming, the staff friendly and the portions are large and very tastey.

If you have ever been to a Harvester, you will know all about their great salad carts and this restaurant is no exception. Lots of choice and the children enjoy choosing their own (with a close and carefull eye to make sure my youngest doesn’t just pile his plate with cucumber) they have two very different but very nice sauces available, blue cheese; very tangy and lovely on the salad and something called red devil, very nice quite sweet but lovely on top of the cold pasta from the salad cart. For those not used to the Harvester the salad cart is free with your main meal and as soon as you have placed your order you are welcome to all troop up and help yourself. As well as the usual salady bits they have other yummies like fresh bread, garlic croutons, dried crispy onions mmm lovely.
The food is flame grilled so the meat is very tasty and cooked as you like it. Again huge portions here (seems like all our favourite restaurants have large portions!!!) So think carefully before ordering a starter! They have platters to share with a bit of everything usually including onion rings and corn on the cob (it’s the little touches) ribs, chicken (their own spit roast) steak (again with a multitude of sauces availble), also availble some lovely pasta & fish dishes.
They do lovely drink combinations, in the winter they served hot chocolate with baileys and cream very nice and during the summer months they have some really lovely fruit juice combinations.
They have recently had an extention built and a bit of a refit, excellent idea as they tend to get very busy at the weekends. Slightly more expensive than some of my other reviews but really worth it.
