strengthofabear: “Came here on New Years Day for Lunch with Ruiz and others, ended up staying till 11pm. Good jukebox. Helpful staff. Nice beer garden. Good location. Food was very average, standard pub stuff at best and not a lot of choice.” more...4 reviews of The Park in English
Excellent local pub in the neighborhood
This is my local. Good beers, massive helpings of tasty, reasonably-priced food, lovely atmosphere, nice decor. Everything you could ask for in a pub, really.
Nice decor, nice location, independantly owned by a couple of realy nice guys, do some great beer.
reccomended
I have some friends who live near this hidden gem of a pub. It has recently (just before Christmas) been taken over by new owners who have transformed it from a shabby (and slightly dodgy) establishment into a beautiful, modern and friendly family pub. Even dogs are allowed!
The decor is comfortable and fabulous, the food is good value and very tasty (they do a range of superb pizzas and tapas or mezze-style snacks). The owners and staff are extremely friendly and go out of their way to be polite and ensure you have a good time. They also have a great selection of drinks with some lovely wines, again, all reasonably-priced.
The best thing about this place, though, is the fact it feels like a comfortable living room at a mate’s house. They have plenty of sofas, a log fire and a pile of board games to complete the vibe. It gets fairly busy on weekends, but nothing like the crowded, noisy inner city pubs. Perfect for whiling away a Sunday afternoon with some friends.
They have just opened an outside terrace too, which is lovely, and they have a room that can be hired out for events.
It is such a good find and so unspoilt by overcrowding that I am almost reluctant to share the info with anyone. But, seriously, if you find yourself in the Dulwich/Crystal Palace/Herne Hill area of town, head on over. You will not be disappointed.
