Hmm. I don’t quite know what to make of this place. I’ve had decent food there and most people I’ve taken have been happy here. But one or two people I’ve taken have really not enjoyed their food.
The owners really are Italian and the also run the deli in the marketplace, so they don’t have any problem getting hold of interesting ingredients.
I think I’m going to have to try here a couple more times before really making up my mind.
If you’re in town on a night when everywhere else is fully booked, then the lack of booking here is really convenient.
We went again today in the hope that the staff could redeem themselves after the last visit ended up rather a disaster. Today we simply walked out after asking if they could leave the spicy meat out of our daughter's calzone and being told that we should not be fussy and the chef wouldnt be prepared do it, when we asked why we got no response. Why on earth couldn't the chef add/leave out an ingredient/filling that we didnt like? Fairly straight forward because the pizzas are bought in partly frozen/par baked!and taking a filling out was impossible. The staff were rude, arrogant and down right disgusting, especially the young waitress who spoke to us like we were nothing but scum. I wouldnt ever go back and as we eat out a lot and so do our friends they have lost some excellent custom. We will make sure all our colleagues are aware that they sell frozen pizzas as it simply isnt good enough!
Lovely, charming, "no frills" experience. Specials are always lovely and so is the Prosecco (if you're not driving). Although small (which adds to the friendly atmosphere), I think there has only been 1 occasion where I needed to wait a while before being seated. I always feel happy and full upon leaving.
Eaten here a couple of times and it has had it's ups and down. Generally pretty good, excellent value for money. I particularly like the pizza which are excellent and authentic Italian but have been disappointed by the risotto. It can get very busy in the summer which means the service is a bit slow and it can be difficult to get in at times. Still pretty good and a great deal better than Piccolinos up the road
Great little Italian in Alnwick, I could believe how cheap it was when our friends took us there. The pizza I had was excellent, in total we had five meals and quite a few beers I’m sure the bill didn’t even come to £50.
Caffe Tirreno is a great basic but authentic Italian Cafe with Italian chef, the food is excellent and the service friendly and relaxed. Wooden tables and chairs, no frills but well worth a visit. You cannot reserve a table here but even if the restaurant looks full don’t despair as the turnover of tables is quite rapid, go in and grab a peroni and wait for the next table to become available.
