A good independant(?) store with all the latest releases as well as some good bargains on older games and 'trade-ins'.
It is possible to trade in or sell your unwanted stuff here - a better deal than going to the shop next door!
The Game station shop is one of the largest indepenent video game retailers in the UK. They stock a vast supply of software, consoles and accessories for the ardent computer game player.
You’ll also find magazines along with a range of pre-owned games, these are normall at a knock down price.
Visit this shop in the centre of town and you’ll be able to pick up the latest films and games, the lads are always willing to give advice so don’t be afraid to ask.
Pros: I go in the gamestation about every week, like everytime i visit Derby because i like PC games and they have quite a few.
There are 2 floors to this gamestation and the games are always cheaper than HMV and Game which is really cool.
The staff are really friendly and like to chat about specific things which are relevant to their job which is good. They all seem to look like they like games and alternative music and so they probably enjoy their job.
Everything is usually quite tidy and set out quite well in the shop for ease of browsing.
Cons: The staff can sometimes screw up, especially when they put the wrong pre owned game in the box and then you have to return it.
The older staff are better than the younger student staff
i often go in here when i need to look for a game for my husband, the staff are always on hand to advise on new realises and good games.
they also stock a lot of pre owned games so they are cheaper.
I really like pc games and so i visit this gamestation quite often when i am in derby, just for a look.
There are lots and lots of preowned games in this shop and there are also 2 floors. They also sell chart/new games which are usually a bit cheaper than HMV or Game.
The staff are usually friendly and do their job pretty well and seem to fit in with the gaming thing well so i think they are specifically picked on their interests. Some staff can be very talkative which is good.
Most of the employees are students but there a few that are a bit older which seem better at their job.
It can be annoying when they screw up and you have to return a pre owned game because it doesn’t work.
Gamestation is located in the centre of Derby, near the entrance of Westfield Centre. There is a wide range of games there, from the new to the old ones. The staff is very friendly and helpful. On the first floor, you can find a retro area where there are a lot of older, classic games. Everyone will find something interesting there!
Gamestation is located in the city centre of Derby opposite the old bus station.
This Game store is superb and is very unique compared to a lot of it’s competitors in the city. They have 2 floors and although it is fairly small on each floor, the wide range of games they offer is superb.
On the top floor they have a “retro” shelf which contains all the old school games for the Snes, Mega-Drive, Nes etc etc and in soem cases you can even buy the old console themselves!
They also sell merchandise for specific games such as teddy Toadstalls from Super Mario!
Gamestation are a games retailer, located in Derby City Centre, adjacent to the Eagle Centre Market. They specialise in a range of consoles and games, including Playstation/PSP, Nintendo Wii/DS and Xbox. Gamestation also have a unique upstairs, dedicated to second hand ‘retro’ games and consoles such as Sega Megadrive, Gameboys, Gamecubes and older versions of the Xbox and Playstation.
Their pricing positioning is perhaps slightly high, but their real strength is the second hand selection with the biggest on offer in Derby.
Staff are always helpful & have a good product knowledge. I would recommend Gamestation for anybody looking for second hand games, but the ‘new’ ones are a tad expensive.
a really good shop for your gaming needs fairly priced and really nice staff, its very clean and has good deals on new and used games.
A nice selection that always changes because you never know whos traded what in. and it is also very cheap for what your getting
this is the cheaper alternative to game you can again find everything here you need and i personaly perfer this to game. it also has alot of cheap but good used games there. use this one!!!
A nice selection that always changes because you never know whos traded what in. Great for finding older games, and also rare games. Of course because these games are pre-owned problems do arise with them and with proof of purchase they will exchange the goods.
This place is great for exchanging games and the selections are really good.
A really nice range of games and nice staff make up Gamestation Derby. You get nice prices for game trade-ins for both cash and credit note. A lot of the games in Gamestation are preowned, making them cheap but lowering the quality a little big. A couple of times I have bought broken goods from Gamestation, and a lot of the time they ask for a receipt to replace them and if, like me, you simple ravage open the bag the item was contained in, throw the receipt away in a desperate attempt to play the game and lose it, then you cannot get a refund.
Be sure to check the discs and the contents of each game purchase, too. I remember buying a 'new’ copy of Gears of War for the Xbox 360 to find that it had no instruction manual and the disc was in very bad condition (on both sides, for some reason). On attempting to get a refund, they wanted a receipt and they wouldn’t let me trade it in as the condition was too poor.
I give Gamestation Derby 3 stars as they have a wide range of games, clothing, action figures and trading cards, yet are let down by strange requests for trading in and replacing items.
good selection of games for all consoles , they also do retro stuff and games upstairs.
