my favorite pub in Local, wish I was my local
This is my local and the guys behind the bar are super friendly. Usually when I go for a pint it's during pub quiz or live music nights. There is limited seating and the eclectic range of old furniture makes navigation a bit hard, but on a quiet evening it's worth hitting the pub for their excellent pizzas and a bottle of wine. It's great value and tasty stuff.
Just off from the hustle and bustle of Old Street, I regularly come here, whether for a quick drink or a meal. The food is lovely; more pricey than that of the other pubs I go to in the area but definitely worth it, the chips and garlic breads and pizzas are lovely. I often buy myself a jar of sweets, a great unusual offering that goes well with any drink!
There is no student discount here, but the staff are lovely, even when there are nearly 20 students filling most of the indoor seats!
I know they have live music nights regularly.
Saw this pub soon after moving to the area. Had a pool table…looked a bit rough to be honest…in keeping with the street it’s on. So I dismissed it early on and never gave it a second look.
Which is a shame as it has been transformed. No more pool, just a comfortable boozer serving a wide variety of drinks (including 3 ales when I was there) in a relaxed atmosphere. They have events such as quizzes and acoustic nights. These days it’s well worth a visit.
This pub as the feel of a pub, great beers fullers ales.good wine list, and selection of lagers,it changed owners around Feb this year, and as only improved as the weeks go by,Truly a welcoming pub for both young and old, they have a quiz night on Tuesdays and acoustic nights every second Thursday with some great acts ,staff are great and friendly. There is no jukebox tv or pool table, but there not needed as the customers talk , instead of watching the box, all in all a great pub in hoxton ,and they are few and far between anywhere these days bbqs at weekends weather permitting. Some really great news, due to the success of the acoustic nights, they will now be every Thursday night, watch qype events to see who appearing, and I’m told the organisers are looking for new talent,is that new talent you?????????????.If so let me know and ill point you in the right direction.and i always forget to mention The George and Vulture, as a mini grand piano. Its waiting to be played,or go to showcase55.com.uk who organise these events, they are qype members,I must add that the G and V as just been awarded Star performer by fullers and customers for the high standards of their London pride. And to bring you up to date there’s some great news,The management have now installed a stage,to provide us all with a good view of these great acts, and maybe a first in this area,They now have a sicilian chef.and of course some great sicilian food on there new menu,
knibbd I’m already getting regular updates on events here. I’d love to live a lot nearer as it sounds like my kind of place!

We live in the area, and this pub has become by far the nicest, and most chilled in the area. Far from the wine bars of Hoxton Sq, but bit more upmarket than a lot of the other pubs nearby.
They did a live music night on thursday that was really great - if slightly warm! A lot more proffessional than your average open mic - apparently some signed, yet unknown next-big-stars in the acoustic world!
Decent enough food, and really great beer - tastiest pint of lager I’ve had in a while!
Defo a locals place - a good ecelectic mix of young and old, suits and boots, trendy and normal - pretty much sums up this part of London!
ALFRED0207 very well written about a good pub must have seen you on thurs im one of the oldschool and i alway enjoy that pub,as you say good mix of people great staff and great beers,

We popped in here on Saturday afternoon. It’s a mellow place then, and you can sit out on the street-side picnic tables in the sun. We ordered a bowl of olives, and boy do you get olives, a whole lot of teensy olives. It was rather amusing, as there were only two of us.
On Sunday we went back and ran into a bloke we know, and he’s a big fan of this spot. He said it’s been fixed up recently and the crowd changed a bit as a result, to more mellow folk.
Pub quiz on Tuesday evenings if you’re interested. I’d put this as a place to go if you’re a local, rather than a destination.
ALFRED0207 this is a pub that respects its customers unuseal in hoxton these days and i lived there now travel to gothere
