I have been back since it became a restaurant. I missed visiting whilst it was under refurbishment but now it’s back with great food and great staff. Worth the wait, I can’t believe it is the same place. They have made the premises so much bigger in such a short time. Well done all. Keep up the great job, if only Southend offered more restaurants of this calibre.

Arrived in Southend not knowing anything about the place, including where to find great fish and chips.
Thankfully, the weight of traffic forced us to park a bit out of the centre, otherwise we might have missed the Blue Banana.
It's bang next to another restaurant, but its fresh white decor, lots of glass for unspoilt views of the water, and friendly owner greeting us at the doorway, drew our attention.
Inside, we enjoyed the laid back atmosphere, staff who genuinely appreciated our presence there (including our three young sons), spotlessly clean everything, and of course, those great fish and chips.
When we return to Southend, we'll return to the Blue Banana.
Excellent Restaurant and Coffee bar. Splendid views across the estuary. Run by very efficient and friendly owners.
The owners have made this place my regular stop off for the best coffee in Southend, with a good range of food on the menu. Highly recomended.

I stoped by here a few months back for a quick coffee with my wife. We stayed upstairs for a few hours drinking coffee, smoothies and had a sandwich and muffin each. All were excellent and we had it brought to the table and chatted endlessly with the lovely couple that ran the place. Great view of the water from comfy chairs and the Sunday paper. we keep going back so would recommend. But don’t take my chair ;)

The smoothies are delicious, such good value for money aswell. Everything tastes freshly made, the couple who run the cafe are always friendly. Its being extended at the moment so they can serve a wider choice of food which im looking forward to. Quite confused as to when it opens, ive been on here sundays but went on a monday and it was closed so need to check that out. Nicely placed on the seafront. (: Look forward to more summers here.

Thanks Jezza - The Blue Banana has recently relaunched now Pier West Café. Same great fish & chips as well as other freshly cooked meals with the same great views and atmosphere. Children always welcome. Hope to see you there again some time soon.
