Review of St Luke's C Of E Church from 4 July 2008
Anglican Church that was (is) attached to my primary school, being just down the road. The original chapel dates from around 1180, and despite being a vehement atheist, getting history lessons in here from Alan Foster was probably one of the highlights of my primary education at that time - he wrote the book: A History of Farnworth Church, its Parish and Village.
It’s a lovely old building. DMJ1962 will no doubt give you the lowdown on the history!
dmj1962 Well, it’s not one I’ve visited yet, although it does look very interesting, and is grade II* listed. Apparently, it was originally dedicated to St Wilfrid.
