A few reviews seems to be complaining about the lack of cheer from the staff at Stuart Pearce. I'm a bit surprised by this, having shopped there for 10 years and always found the chaps friendly enough. The meat is excellent and good value - often cheaper than Sainsbury nearby, let alone Waitrose in South Street.

I've seen the reviews for Stuart Pearce and I have to say, that having lived in Dorking for 15 years, I can't wholly agree! When we first moved here, we did think the service was a bit abrupt but over the years I've grown quite fond of it! Their meat is always fantastic and they will always try to get something in for you if they don't have it. Rick always gives helpful suggestions for cooking and whilst Stuart himself may not be the most cheerful man you'll ever meet, he is a skilled, helpful butcher who will prepare anything you want, boned, rolled, scored, tied, un-tied - however your recipe dictates. And I'd rather buy decent meat from a butcher who knows where it comes from than a piece of pre-packed value supermarket meat anyday. On several occasions, I've found the duck breasts and some cuts of beef cheaper in Stuart Pearce than in the supermarket. So, if you're looking for a tap dance and a song from a smiley butcher (who probably got up at 4am), then you should probably look elsewehere. But if you want decent meat, you won't go wrong here.

Miserable and always seems to be shut very early in the afternoon despite have signs up saying support your local butcher. Maybe they could be a boy more accommodating for their customers? Just sayin'....

It seems that Stuart Pearce needs an up to date review...We have been using them for 3 years, to support our local business and because their meat is good. However, I find them to be only as helpful as they have to be. Nothing more. Customer service there isn't brilliant, and they won't 'go the extra mile'. I refuse to pay a premium anymore to get meat from Stuart Pearce when my business is not appreciated! Sure they can get you an award winning Turkey, but you're paying for it and most butchers can do the same...I think the awards may have gone to their heads, sadly. I now go to the Butcher in Brockham village, the quality of their meat is as good, and I am happier to be getting service with a smile!

A great place to shop! They are always happy to give advice and everything I’ve bought from them has been top quality. They’ve won awards, will order in an organic Christmas turkey for you, and are deservedly popular. This is the sort of local business that is well worth supporting.
