I just want to have a little rant about this Wine Merchant, a chain with 1,500 shops up and down the UK. Right now, and indeed since a fair while, virtually all their decent wines are on “3 for 2” Offer. The mathematics are simple: they price up the wine at their normal markup, then add 33% to its price in singles. Anyone who buys a single bottle pays 33% over the odds; buy 3, and you pay the normal price. This penalises anyone who does not wish to buy in quantity. Rogues! Don’t go there.
