Established in 1892, the Gore Hotel has 47 rooms and is located in a tree-lined avenue between Harrods and Kensington Palace. admittedly, I have never stayed here myself, but visitors from abroad keep coming back. all rooms are individually styled and have typical British charme without being naff. I have first-hand experience of the excellent bar, though, which is ideal for post-Proms drinks.
