I am not a local of Chiswick, so found the whole street on which the Covent Garden Fishmongers is located pretty bizarre - it is filled with luxury children's clothes shops, yoga specialists and delis. Mingling with the yummy-mummies stocking up on delicacies for their Hugos and Petunias, I was certainly impressed by the array of fish on offer. The staff were helpful but weren't particularly friendly. And when I saw this notice on the side of their display, I didn't really find it funny, it just made me think that these guys actually just think that all of their customers are morons...of is this just me having a sense of humour failure? http://bitly.com/klq0hP

Fantastic fishmonger.
And by fantastic I mean they are willing to listen to my truly idiotic questions as I inexpertly teach myself how to cook seafood. Seriously, ask them anything.
Get here early on weekends because it queues out the door with clever locals stocking up for their supper.
Would give it five stars if I could get fresh squid tubes there. The frozen ones are delicious but... you know... I'm picky. Certainly not anything to stop me (or you) shopping there.

Quite disappointing really. I do not like people that lie and they should not be doing this. Maybe they are used to talk to people that know little about fish and they are definitely taking advantage of the situation. Went there the other morning on my way to work and asked for a Turbot I was in a rush and in a suit so only asked him: Is it fresh? He answers: 'Of course arrived this morning sir'. I said 'great!' I will pick it up when I came back from work.
When I had the fish in my kitchen and opened the bag that the fishmonger gave me I noticed straightaway worrying signs of a fish that was at least 4 days old!!!!! Fishy smell, semi-closed opaque eyes, pink (almost yellow) gills.
Will not be going back. There are supermarkets around the corner with same quality fish.

Excellent shop for fresh fish in West London - great selection and really good quality.
My only complaint is that the last few times they have been very rude, possibly due a little to my indecisiveness, but still you don’t get points of patronising your customers.

Support your local fishmonger as they are in danger of disappearing for good! This is the only fishmonger I can remember seeing in a long while in West London, it is also acclaimed to be one of the best and has appeared in many a magazine feature or tv programme.
The staff are very exceptional. I once bought a large piece of monkfish and the fishmonger had no qualms when I asked him how was best to cook it and if he had any recommendations.
Apart from a large selection of very healthy and fresh fish, they also have a good variety of shellfish and even sell Samphire!

I love shopping here. I knew it would be good the first time when I had to queue for 15 minutes outside as it was so busy.
They are very knowledgeable about the fish that they sell & they have an excellent range of produce, including frozen seafood, excellent accompaniments & seasonal produce that goes well with seafood like samphire, MMmm…
They don’t always have exactly what you might want, but that is usually because it is out of season. They will happily recommend other food when they don’t have what you want. They will prepare the food while you wait & are always happy to help with any requests.
Highly recommended for anyone that likes fresh seafood - although get there early to avoid disappointment!
