Otex Removals

I cannot recommend Otex Removal Services enough.  From start to finish they did an excellent job moving our four bed house.  The surveyor who came over to asses the property was very experienced and helpful, he gave lots of useful information. The removal crew turned up on time and started move as planned.  The removal guys instantly put us at ease and were absolutely meticulous, really careful with the furniture and tireless hard workers (4.5 hours loading up the van!).  On reaching the new property everything was unloaded with care and all the items were put into their appropriate rooms. I was a bit stressed at first but the whole move was a wonderful experience. I am really thankful to Otex team.

I'm not sure who the other reviewers of this firm have been using, but they are totally at odds with my experience. I booked Otex to move us from our 4 bed house on Saturday 13th October. The quote stated that a 10 ton truck would be supplied, but a 5 ton truck turned up. This meant that the move had to be done in two trips, prolonging the length of time it took to move. No apology was made and the excuse of "we weren't told that a 10 ton truck was required" was offered. Only 4 removal men turned up, instead of the promised 5 and none of them wore the company polo shirts as displayed on the men on their website.

When a representative came to survey the house for a quote, I quite clearly stated that some of the furniture in the first floor living room had to go out the front window as it wouldn't fit down the stairs. When I raised this with the men on the day they said they weren't told that and had no equipment. They said they couldn't get hold of any and they would have to do it manually. I was dubious, but they said it would be ok. The van didn't have any equipment other than a few blankets, no evidence of any of the protective gear shown on the website.

I was astounded at the lack of professionalism displayed by the people undertaking the move. My possessions were thrown about with no regard for the fragility of some of the items, despite the fragile boxes being clearly marked as such.

During the move many items were damaged:

 

• The first bookcase lowered out of the window (without the proper equipment) had the top ripped off and the wood split down the side. This is beyond repair. this item is not a cheap Ikea, but a solid piece of furniture from Habitat. Not cheap to replace.
• A display cabinet had one of the feet ripped off.
• Our king-size bed had a foot and side damaged and we are unable to use it.
• The sofa covers, which we'd taken off for transit, have dirty boot marks and grease marks all over them.
• An expensive Chinese silk rug was thrown from the back of the van, came untaped, and was trodden on by several of the removal men before I could retrieve it.
• My framed paintings, which I'd carefully wrapped in both bubblewrap and corrugated cardboard were thrown into the van, slamming against the side. I've only managed to unwrap one of them so far, and the glass is cracked, I have not had the opportunity to check the rest of them yet, but I'm not optimistic that they will be unscathed.
• I had several boxes of very fragile, handmade, glass items, which I'd clearly marked as very fragile and also marked as not having boxes placed on top of them, yet boxes were piled on top, crushing the top of the boxes. I've not had a chance to unpack them yet, but again, I'm not optimistic about them all being intact.I shall be checking them this week.
• During the removal process at the old address, care was not taken when getting items down the stairs and there are many gouges and scrapes along the wall. This was a rented property and the estate agents have said this will be deducted from our deposit.

This job was a complete shambles from start to finish, there were no tools or equipment on the van as stated on the quote and the team leader was extremely rude when I confronted him about the damaged bookcase. Moving is a stressful occasion in any circumstance, yet this was exacerbated by all the mistakes and unprofessional way the removal was conducted.

I was also astounded that I had to pay in cash before the job was completed or the job wouldn't be finished, this is nothing short of holding me to ransom. I also find it highly suspicious that cash was required and no receipt provided. 

I had to give them one star on here, but I really wanted to give minus five.

Avoid this firm at all costs if you want a relatively stress free removal day!

*UPDATE*

I'm still waiting for recompense for the damage they did to my property through their carelessness. Apparently they say I don't value my property because I never went for their full packing service. As if this gives them the right to treat my property with no care whatsoever.  I've set up a facebook group to pull together all their disgruntled customers so that we can act together in a concerted effort. I would also recommend reporting them to Trading Standards as they shouldn't be allowed to operate in this manner. If  anyone wants me to add them to the the facebook group, email me atMrFishface@yahoo.co.uk and give me your facebook username to add you to the group. I'm also in contact with several media companies who are interested in the story and the more people we get together, the better.

We received quotes from many companies and decided to OTEX for my recent move to Wembley . They offered me a quick turn around time for my pick-up and delivery. The removal crew were very friendly at both ends, everything was wrapped and nicely packed. The job was conducted with great care and I shall be recommending you to my colleagues

Hi everyone. Have just completed my move with Otex Removals and all i can say is what a fantastic job they have done. I choose them after a friend recommended and what a good choice. It was a pack and move in the same day with a very early start.They arrived on time and 5 hours later all my contents were packed and loaded in the truck.They sent a 3 man crew. Incredibly hard working and polite. No stress at all throughout the whole move. They used covers for all the fragile furniture , sofas and mattresses. Will recommend them to anyone without a doubt. Wonderful service! They made a very stressful task so much easier. I moved from West to South London. I had lots of bits and pieces and they happily carried everything up two lots of stairs in perfect condition. They are also very well equipped.They had all sorts of furniture covers which they used..Never seen anything like it. Very friendly and polite staff. I fully recommend them

Moving home is always a stressful time but your team made it easier and took most of the worries away. I was really impressed with the team you've sent, they where efficient, very polite and courteous during the whole move. Despite some difficulties , they didn't quibble once and got on with what needed to be done and taking care of the furniture through out. I will be moving again in the very near future and will call Otex Removals for their services and will be very happy to recommend you to my friends & family.

We used Otex for moving from North London to South London and we're very happy for the services provided. The whole team was very polite and professional from our first contact.  I have no hesitation in recommending this Company to anybody.  

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! Despite coming to do a survey at our house, the van they sent was too small. I carefully wrapped a set of crystal wine glasses (a wedding gift) in their original packaging and in another box clearly marked 'THIS WAY UP' with 'FRAGILE' tape all over it and they moved it and stacked it the wrong way. Lunckily only one of the 6 glasses was broken. Despite completing their inventory, they have refused point blank to replace the broken wine glass. They are stating that customers pay the first £250 excess, which was not mentioned at the time of enquiry or booking. As well as this, they moved an cheap IKEA floor mat and broke this in transit as well. They hid it in the cupboard under the stairs, so I didnt notice it until after they were long gone. AVOID THIS COMPANY! THEY ARE CHEAP BECAUSE THEY ARE RUBBISH!

Great Service Provided by the Removal Team who helped us move on such a short notice, price quoted was little bit more then what we were quoted by another company but sadly those people never responded to my questions regardsing insurance policy,OTEX were very quick to Give all the Details which was very Impressive,
The Sales Team in the Office is very Supportive as well, and thank you for collection of All the Boxes which is a very good Service which your company offered ,

Used OTEX Removals Yesterday for my House move from Clapham Common to Wandsworth, the three men who Arrived at my house were extremely Professional, hardworking and Polite,(Hard to find these days),started the work shap at nine as promised by the sales Team during my phone conversation, overall a very very Good experience of moving house after such a long time, sorry OTEX ,I Would love to mention each and every details but I am in a bit of hurry so thank you to all for the hard work

While the team who came and did the move were good overall it was very poor, particularly communication and customer service.

I’d ordered some materials from them but trying to get them all proved very difficult (not great when you’re trying to pack). I was over charged for the materials I received and the movers used some of the materials they’d sold me, as well as some of my own.

I’d raised my concerns over getting my piano moved and was told everything would be done properly but the crews they stated would be used didn’t materialise and the men left to do it didn’t seem to know about moving pianos. Result – damage done.

I wrote to the company after the move raising my complaints but have never received any written reply from them and there has been no mention of refunding the money I’m owed. I was called by someone about the piano, who appeared to try to make excuses for the damage. And even though one of the delivery crew saw the damage, and I’ve sent photos through to show it was done while being moved (it’s still wrapped) I’ve not heard anything since, even though I’ve rung regularly.

WORST MOVING EXPERIENCE EVER – they were hours late to start with, they didn’t bother to package our items as they were in such a rush, stuff got damaged in transit [we were only moving 1/2mile down the road], they damaged the walls with knocking our furniture into them…when we complained they said as we hadn’t written out a complete inventory of every item we owned we had no grounds for compensation. Unprofessional to the extreme – it was a stressful and emotional experience and I cannot recommend them.

The movers are on time and very professional. They took very good care of my furniture and everything else. The movers also help in packing last minute items that I forgot to pack. The price was reasonable and the sales person is very professional and also help me in reducing my price.
When the movers arrived at my new house , they were on time and also very courteous and professional. They are very careful in moving my furniture in the house so they would not damage my walls or anything else.
Over experience are very positive. I will recommend them to my other friends that are relocating.

Everything went as planned and the crew was a pleasure to deal with. Kept us laughing the whole day! All our items were protected and arrived with no damage. We will recommend your company to anyone we know is moving. Once again thanks.

i found otex and 4 other companies through a comparsion website,
i end up choosing otex Just because they were member of NGRS,which is always a Plus point for customer,
i must say they did a Wonderfull job in moving my house from enfield to devon,the best thing i liked about this company was that every now and then the Team leader came up to me and ask me if I am satisfy with the work they have done so far,it make me felt very comfortable knowing that they take extreme care when it comes to customer Satisfaction.

We were really happy with OtexRemovals from the day they came and did a house surevy to the actual move. We booked online and recieved a very competitive quote from them after . They were very helpful during the move, checking parking restrictions with the council and providing full insurance of our goods. The move went extremely well,The Removal men came in and packed all our things in good time ,and then on second day the Journey towards oxford went very well and they were almost on the agreed Arrival time (about 40 minutes late), over all it was worth paying your compnay 750.00 for the move !
