So beautiful. Very impressive watching the ice fall. I got so cold though, because i hadnt wrapped up warm enough. Note. Take warm clothes. Lots of them

Review of Glacier Perito Moreno from 7 December 2010

So beautiful. This was one of the highlights of my trip. I would skip the 50peso boat ride and just watch the glacier from the platforms. Stunning!

Review of Glacier Perito Moreno from 12 April 2010

What is special about this glacier is that it seals off two sides of a lake, and in the summer the ice bridge between the two melts and sometimes forms a big arch, which then collapses.

We did a trip up onto the ice - First viewing the snout of the glacier - as per video below, then taking a boat across to the other side. From there we walked though ancient forest, past waterfalls and then onto the lateral moraines, where we fitted our crampons for the walk across the ice.

Crunchy, consistency like sea-salt, not easy to walk on but worth every aching muscle. We saw massive pits, rivers running over the ice, deep blue lakes and sink holes. A stunning day. If you are even moderately fit I would suggest taking the longer of the "on the ice" tours that we took.

Review of Glacier Perito Moreno from 11 July 2008

This is supposedly the worlds biggest glacier outside of Antarctica or something like that. It is very impressive. Very big. The problem is that if you are down here for a while then you see lot's of these glaciers, and they kind of blend in to each other.
The other problem with this one is that you have to do a kind of day tour. The reason I hate tours is that you get stuck into someone elses itinery. In this case you arrive at the glacier at about 10 in the morning and the bus takes you home at about 4 in the arvo. 6 hrs is a long time to stand around watching ice falling.
These are silly quibbles really, I know. The Moreno glacier is spectacular. Don't miss it if you're down here.
