Yes they are cheap and have plenty of cardio equipment. But prepare to have to wait an hour to get on a weight bench. Also if you cancel your membership they cancel it instantly and don’t let you continue to the end of the month you have paid for.. Try contacting the customer service team as well, the last thing they want to do is help.

Managed & used gyms for 26 years; 10 marks for this space and the equipment. Love the warnings regards people mis-using the gear (one of my pet peeves). GREAT showers & some of the best looking guys ;-) with BIG smiles on their faces – hey, I come here to train, but COME-ON; nothing motivates like a cute mug!! NO ATTITUDE.

Very good value – good range of equipment when compared to many much more expensive gyms. Can get very busy however at peak times and that’s when it crumbles a bit.
Also – when there is no one on duty, then don’t lose your PIN number as the central help centre doesn’t offer any support or help. I have seen two people locked inside, who then had to use the fire escape – setting off the alarm, etc..
So, all in all you get what you pay for here.

I’ve been a memeber from the start last year but have only just become a regular user – for £14.99 its a price not to be sniffed at. I’ve had comments from friends about how basic it is and busy etc…this is all true but what do you want from a gym – unless your a totally meathead and need to pose all the time.
The staff are friendly and sexy – Matt and Kate make my Saturday with the smiles and friendly approach – nothing is too much trouble for them and help when asked, thye never ignore questions posed to them. Adam and Ben are great managers there – have seen Marcus a few times and he seems very approachable – and again helpful and encourging. The Gym group are doing something right as its always busy, busy, busy – a bit of a problem in evening but hey aren’t all gyms at this time.
Downstairs is called muscle beach as its full of the posing muscle boys of Brighton and can be off putting but i tend to go down for a laugh at how they are looking into the mirrors – which i hate looking into myself!!! have seen a few faces down there and said hello but you just get a half smile back!
Started my PT with Matt and he is helpful and encourging – i’ve managed to lose wieght and gain confidance in the few months he has been helping out – it great to have someone help you that is intrested in you rather than themselves the whole time. He trying to get me to do the Thai pad work – good luck i say!! – and made me change parts fo my diet.
Overall it’s agreat experince and i used to hate going to the gym but feel it is full of the oridarny people of Brighton and yes you get what you pay for but to feel safe, happy and encoraged is a good thing. My advice is to join and have fun – i am and intend to continue to do so – also evey single instructor there looks fit and sexy so its worth just going for a look at them (espically Adam!)

If I could give this place no stars then I would!
I joined and put myself on the waiting list - They promised not to withdraw money from my account until I had reached the top of the waiting list and received an activation code.
As I checked daily I realised that the predicted amount of days I had to wait was actually slower than they had originally told me. So I decided that I would cancel the membership (which had not even begun!), and also told my bank to cancel the Direct Debit, which they did.
Then to my surprise a few days later my account showed £35.99 withdrawn by the Gym Ltd. I quickly wrote them an email, stating that it was cancelled and with the bank also and could they please refund me the withdrawn amount.
This was part of the response I got from them (!):
"All payments are non refundable under any circumstances, as clearly stated in the terms and conditions.
We hope this has clarified the situation.
Kind regards,
The Gym Group"
What an extremely unhelpful reply I think you'll agree. Well I wrote to them a second time stating that maybe the direct debit guarantee might recover my money as it seems a mix up has happened. The reply ignored this suggestion and reiterated ""All payments are non refundable under any circumstances, as clearly stated in the terms and conditions."!!!. Now you think a group of this size and fresh outlook might have tried to assist me, apologise for the mix-up or offer a complimentary month, or anything whatsoever - nothing - they did not want to know!
Fortunately all Direct Debit transfers are covered by The Direct Debit Guarantee, if a mistake has been made by an organisation or bank. So I was Okay in the end - But what a disgusting response from this 'new' type of gym.
So guys and girls The Gym Group will not refund you your money under ANY circumstances whatsoever!!!!!!
Thank you The Gym Group. You have succeeded in putting me off ever joining your establishment again.

Hi most banks will let you apply for a “direct debit indemnity” just say to your bank you want to conduct a direct debit indemnity – just call your bank give them date of direct debit, direct debit and number and they will refund it for you under your dd guarantee, usually straight away. As you paid for a service you have not benefited from. Direct debits can still come out of your account if cancelled this happens if its cancelled with 5 days being processed and its to late by then as wheels in join claiming it from your account. Hope this helps get your money back!
The fact that it is 24/7, the monthly price and the lack of a contract are the main reasons The Gym is worth going to!
Lots of varied equipment, feels clean throughout, showers are spacious.
Consequently it is busy pretty much all day every day and that's the only downfall.

I go here 3/4 times a week (early morning and late evening). I prepared for the Brighton and London marathon.
There is always equipment to use and its always clean and hygienic. Has a sunbed too :) Highly recommended!
