Review of William Cookworthy from 20 January 2012

This pub had no real ale, despite having two tribute clips forward facing and despite being probably the nearest pub to the brewery that owns it (10 minutes walk down the road). Additionally adverts for Cornish Rattler are fairly pointless if the pub does not actually serve it. A quick scan of the fridge found nothing at all worth drinking there so I invested in a poor half of Tetley Smoothflow just to save myself the awkwardness of walking straight back out of the pub.

Perhaps as William Cookworthy was a Quaker Minister, they have taken on the Quaker advice ‘In view of the harm done by the use of alcohol, tobacco and other habit-forming drugs, consider whether you should limit your use of them or refrain from using them altogether’. Advice that is much easier to follow with the selection they had here!

I feel a bit guilty giving such a low rating as the people running the pub seemed a friendly couple and their dog’s bark was very much worse than its bite. That can’t redeem such a bad experience though.
