A very good hotel for its price. Unpretentious and simple, doesn’t pretend to be something it isn’t. It is a former university halls of residence converted into a little hotel. Breakfast was very nice, good choice of cooked and continental breakfasts, and the staff were very polite and helpful. Downsides: parking was a 15-minute walk away, and the breakfast room was very full, we had to wait for a table. We arrived earlier than planned at the hotel but the staff happily allowed us to check-in and go into our room. Fantastic central location 5 minutes’ walk from Princes Street and the Royal Mile.
During my holiday in Scotland I stayed one night in the Kenneth Mackenzie Suite. I arrived two hours before the official check-in but these weren’t a problem for the staff there. My room was ready so I could check in. The people there were all very friendly and helpful.
The breakfast room is outside but only in the next building, so it is also no problem. The offer all you like and you could decide between full Scottish breakfast and continental breakfast. All tasted very good and the room themselves was nice and friendly.
After check out I could left my baggage there until it was time to go to the airport. The price was also ok for a weekend in Edinburgh.
