Went for Easter Sunday lunch at the Carvery with my daughter and son-in-law, wasnt as packed as it usualy is, having been there several times before when we have had to wait at least 45mins before getting a table. After getting our lunch it finally dawned on me that our last meal we had there the potatoes were hard and unedible, well there was no change there they were just as hard, the turkey was lovely as was the beef, veg was overdone, so i just ate most of the meat and left the rest. My daughter wasnt impressed either, my son-in-law woofed his down expressing how lovely it was, he was that hungry it didnt touch the sides, say no more!! 1 out of 3 for satisfaction. Its gone downhill the food used to be excellent, wont be going there again!!

Disgusting is how i would sum our experience up in 1 word!
We queued for 30 minutes in a line which resembled a queue for school dinners as they had 1 guy carving meat at 6.30 on a Saturday night! Once we got our meat half the vegetables had been allowed to run out so we were asked to wait another 'couple of minutes' while they got some more. The car park is ridiculous and you have to be extremely lucky to get a parking space and the whole place is severely over-rated. They sat 10 of us around a round table which simply was not big enough and we had to eat our meal unable to move our arms at all. It would seem that the attitude is simply 'pack 'em in and take their money'. If you went to the bar to get a drink then you waited at least 10 minutes to get served, although that was probably slightly quicker than waiting for a waitress to get drinks for you. The heating was set to 'cook the customers' mode and it was far too hot in there to be enjoyable, even as a non smoker i kept popping outside to cool down. Yes, it may be a reasonable price, but there are plenty of other decent carverys around offering the equivalent value for money and a much higher standard of service. NEVER AGAIN!

Decor could do with improvement. Service not great. However at £15 a head for a full on 2 course sunday lunch including bottomless soda you aren't going to beat it.
Good choice of meats and veg. We arrived early so avoided the queues that were building when we left just after midday.
All in all not a bad choice for half decent food at a half decent price.

I have no idea why Toby Carvery at Bexleyheath is so popular. It's a bog standard pub roast dinner, with the only difference being that the vegetables are served buffet style so you can help yourself after being served a piece of meat by the cook behind the counter.
On the Sunday I visited, the place was packed solid at 2:30pm. After being informed that there would be a 45 minute wait for a table of two (despite empty tables being clearly visible in the restaurant) I had to wait at the bar for almost 10 minutes to be served.
There was no where to sit whilst waiting for a table, so the only option was to stand in a walkway drink in hand, waiting with the other hungry customers and watching people walk past with plates of food. Did I mention the food is served in one corner of the restaurant, so you have to walk through crowds of people with your plate back to your table?
After 45 minutes of waiting, we were seated and told how food service works (ask for your meat then help yourself to the vegetables), then joined the snaking queue waiting for a plate of food, reminiscent of orphans waiting for their gruel. If you want a second helping of vegetables, you have to endure the same procedure again.
I wouldn't go to Toby Carvery again - if I wanted a good value roast I'd rather go to a JD Weatherspoons or any other pub.

The food cannot be faulted, really delicious and plenty of it. However the queue makes you feel like you're back at school a little! \the downside is that the overall decor of the restaurant really lets it down. It is basically very drab and rather dank and stale around the bar area. The tables, seating, table mats could do with a deep clean. A revamp of the whole building is, in my opinion, well overdue. While I was there I had to make a complaint about the ladies loo which I visited twice with my young daughter. Not only is it tucked away upstairs but the doors are a squeeze to get through and the stale smell of urine that hits you! It was really grubby to touch the door handles (clearly never polished) but the toilets themselves were disgusting. Some modernisation of taps and touch button loos would be great. I felt as though I needed to wash my hands again before I sat down to eat. Alas no antibac spray or gel was available so take your own.
On top of all that the entrance is to the rear past stinky rubblish bins and at times staff members seem smoking; not very welcoming and the car park a squeeze. The website clearly shows a picture of the front of the building where the entrance door is blocked off, a real shame.

I have been to this carvery quite a few times. I tend to steer clear of weekends and lunch times though because it can get very busy and the queue for the carvery can take quite a while.
The last time i went i took my daughter (age 1) and the staff were very friendly and gave her crayons and a scrap book to doodle on. The food is always lovely and if you ask for extra they are willing to top up your plate :o)
Good value for money too.

Not a big fan of carvery, but I do like the Toby Carvery in Crook Log. It’s a lovely little restaurant and the staff are pleasant and I always end up tipping them because the service is so good. The prices are quite good as you get a very decent, lovely meal. The actual restaurant is beautiful; you get a very authentic feel, kind of like being in the country when you are there, because they have lovely decoration, with loads of decorative plates and ornaments and wall frames. Nice place for a family meal.

The last time we went it was a Friday night and I dont think they take bookings, so it was very, very busy. We had to wait an hour for a table so we waited at the bar. Nowhere to sit and I was pregnant at the time so it was a long wait! Then you have to queue for the carvery which can take a while. But the food is really good- the meat is so juicy and tender and you can have a bit of each (gammon, turkey and beef) or just a bit of one. You can have as much veggies as you like and stuffing balls, and there are all the sauces and gravies you need! They have a regular menu but the carvery is the way to go! Never had dessert there- always been too full!
I think its £6 on off peak days before 7pm. Its always packed on Sundays, Easter etc and the car park isnt big enough to cope with demand so that can be a negative.

This is a very busy restaurant. The carvery is great with usually a choice of turkey, beef, lamb, yorkshire puds and lots of veggies and sauces. There is a tendency to pile your plate a bit too high. You can also choose alternative dishes from the menu. The atmosphere is lively and the staff friendly. It can sometimes be a long wait for a table but the bar is a pleasant place to sit with a drink and have a chat with your friends. There is often a problem with parking as the car park does not have a large capacity.

crook log is a very quite bar/resturant… it is good for birthdays, christmas and just sunday dinners. it is a help your self buffet, which has gorgeuse food, and drink. when i went there for my nan’s birthday it was one of the best birthdays she has had in a long time, with the hole family. there is lovley music. lots of happy lovley people and the waitresses and waiters are regular and polite. i would recommend for you to go there, it is not the most cheapest resturant but is one of the best resturants i have ever been to. FIVE STARS from me!!!! xxxx
