The staff are friendly and helpful and the prices not too steep. One thing though, book early as it is so popular that the good shows sell out quickly!
Five stars just aren't enough for the New Theatre. Oh, and they welcome students unlike some other places!
Love this theatre. Thankfully Cardiff is one of those cities that has a selection of different type theatres. This one being the oldest of the three theatres I frequent on a regular basis. I have always enjoyed a show at this theatre. Offers a varity of shows throughout the year. Best seats are the front stalls and front circle offering an excellent view of the stage. Only negative is that I feel that it is not up to the general public to be automatically charged an additional 50p on top of the ticket so to help contribute towards the theatre’s re-furbishment i.e. re-newing the theatre’s seats! Very central and easy location within Cardiff – do not use the NCP carpark directly opposite the theatre as this car park is the most expensive to use in the whole of Cardiff but instead park in one of the side streets within the Civic Buildings area as parking is fairly cheap (parking meters – change only and to be deposited on arrival – totally free after 6pm). Enjoy the show folks!

Possibly one of the oldest theaters in cardiff.
It offers a fantastic range of performances from panto to serious plays.
Ticket pricing in a fair price depending on what you are going to see.
The seating is fantastic as you get a great view where ever you sit.
Disabled accesses to good as they have allocated spots in which you can sit.

This theatre is decades old, and is very much in the style of the old music halls. It is a bit tired in places, but has not lost any charm. Shows some fantastic performances in an intimate theatre setting of a bygone era. The yealy panto is a must.

The New theatre is wales no1 place to go and watch classical, traditional plays, musicals, comedies etc. There is a coffee shop and they provide a variety of professional catering for all events. As well as hosting a variety of different plays it is also home to some great art exhibitions

This is a great theatre, it is just the right size and very atmospheric. Every show i have seen here has been brilliant - there is always something good on and they have a wide range of touring shows play here. The staff are friendly and the drinks are expensive but not too bad. It is easy to walk here or the bus stop is right outside, being in the centre of town is really handy for drinks or pre theatre dinner.

Super theatre, very central, which hosts many top class acts & shows/musicals. There’s always a wonderful atmosphere there although at the interval it does get extremely cramped.
Plenty of pre & post show eateries & hostelries in the vicinity. Maybe check out the matinees if you are in Cardiff for the day & want a break from the shopping?
The acoustics here are FAR better than the 'perfect?’ acoustics at St Davids hall.

My family and I have been coming to this Theatre since we were children - then to watch the Pantomines . In recent years I have seen some excellent plays and musicals there and am hoping to take my grandson there this Christmas. The New Theatre tries to cater for all - there are pantos and plays for children, musicals, comedies, dramas. Lots of famous, well reviewed actors walk the boards on the stage here. It is a really old fashioned theatre with a very small bar which gets very crowded before the performance and during the interval but which has an excellent atmosphere. Parking can be a problem but if you come by bus, you can alight in Greyfriars Road, right next to the theatre door!

A great theatre in central Cardiff. I was particularly impressed by the Welsh National Opera subsidised performances at only £10 each year! Well worth being added to their mailing list for a special treat! The theatre is across the road from a multi-story car park which, although very useful, is expensive. Perhaps best to leave the car at home and travel in by bus or train.

Beautiful Victorian style theatre which shows a wide variety of acts from drama to musicals and eveything in between.
With it’s central location (just off Queen St) there are lots of handy eateries nearby for pre-show dinner or post-show drinks.
Has a tendency to get rather cramped and hectic during intervals due to lack of space in the main assembly area which is why I couldnt award it the full five stars.
