Taste of Surrey

I attended the Taste of Surrey beginner’s cookery class on Saturday 10th September and thoroughly enjoyed myself and can’t wait to go back.

The day was easy to follow with a mixture of demonstrations and hands on work, and as there were only 5 of us we all had lots of individual supervision. I learnt lots of new things, learnt lots of new handy tips and at the end of the day we got to eat the delicious food we had just made!

Kevin and his wife Lisa were lovely, so helpful and friendly and the course was fantastic value for money. I will most definitely be coming back again in the near future and would recommend Taste of Surrey courses to everyone!

On Saturday 27th August, I spent a great day at Taste of Surrey learning basic cookery skills – safety, knife skills, kneading bread (so satisfying!), making bread rolls, choux pastry and getting hands on practice with encouragement from Kevin – master chef.
On arrival, coffee and croissants were served by Lisa, Kevin’s wife. Kevin then showed us around the premises, and as there were only three of us on the course we got lots of assistance from Kevin who demonstrated then assisted each of us to try skills we never thought we’d master.
Making spring rolls was my personal favourite – and one that I will be attempting at home once I find the wrappers
Lunch was then served – spring rolls, beautifully presented; chicken supreme (with our finely chopped vegetables through the sauce)
and our own choux pastry buns with chocolate sauce.

A great day out, and one I hope to repeat – there are many more courses to choose from.

I had a fantastic day making bread, choux pastry, spring rolls and a gorgeous trout dinner with vg. I learnt lots of skills and tips and have already cooked the trout dinner for friends and it hasn’t even been a week yet.

Kevin and his lovely wife, Lisa, were welcoming and friendly and did not stop working hard all day. Kevin made sure all the students got equal attention at all times and if anybody needed his advice, he was always on hand to give it.

Great day, great value and not the last time I shall be going there. Thank you.

The Taste of Surrey Thai Cookery Lesson we attended was very professionally done.

We had a warm welcom with tea and buscuits on arrival. Kevin Hooper - the master chef of england then did a demo of the Thai Dishes we were to cook.

A lovely menu of Thai food: Coconut soup of Prawns & Oyster Mushrooms. Muslim Chicken Curry and then a refreshing Lime Crème Brulee

We eat all we cooked for our lunch, which was amazing. We will come back for more lesson next month as we learn many great tips you simply dont get from cook books.

The cookery lesson was hands on with tutor demonstrations and supervision made it so easy.
