Park Cafe is a funny one in that I can't give it less than a good review, because it is a very good little cafe-bar, but at the same time it's almost identical to the 4 or 5 bars surrounding it, and I never go to any of them.
I guess the bars on Susannenstraße have found a good thing and are all sticking to it.
Park Cafe is a cool, trendy little place. They have a limited food menu, do a good range of coffees and also cocktails. That's about it.
Oh park bar... you have the best long island ice teas I've ever tasted... and with no less then 7 shots of alcohol in these lethal babies apiece... Needless to say I left you very, very drrrrrunk.....
Great cocktails, busy but still a great little bar to take the edge off a bad week.
Oh I'll be back...

liron, 1 October 2007: Do you find that their cocktails in general are heavy on the alcohol?

Kittles, 1 October 2007: I suposse... compared to Australia...but then again all of my G&T's and long island ice teas seem to magicly contain more alcohol in them in Hamburg...
Park is a great little bar in the heart of the Schanze. They've got rid of the AOL internet point and replaced in with a giant pot plant, which is nice. They also do half decent light food, great cocktails that aren't too expensive (I will get a few in tonight), and the usual beers. Service isn't great because they're overworked, but as long as you strategically order your drinks you'll be ok.

The Park Cafe was one of the first places in Hamburg which I hit at random to enjoy a social cup of coffee. When I arrived, it was packed, and it didn't take me long to figure out that one needs to find his or her "niche hour".
Park sports a very unique menu - they are very strong with their cocktail offerings (the strongest I've seen outside of a bar or pub), along with traditional warm drinks and an interesting selection of cakes and soups. Their coconut soup seems to be a hit with the crowd, personally, I could find myself at park only for their blueberry muffins.
Coffee at Park is a hit or miss. On some days, the coffee is too strong for my liking, on other days, it's distinctly weak. This I'm willing to forgive, however, since Park is and remains one of the best places to meet friends in the Schanze for some good conversation. I must admit, however, that due to the cafe's popular nature, the chances of me going there alone to drink coffee and read a book are extremely slim.
The crowd at Park is very diverse and remains diverse throughout the day. Young folks and the older crowd meet at Park during the mornings, afternoons and evenings, and it's not uncommon to see parents sitting at the tables with their children. The "clubbing crowd" seems to mostly frequent Park on Friday nights, presumably to order from the cocktail menu.
