Haagen-Dazs flagship store in Leicester Square, is a whole new experience of ice cream indulgence, Hagen-Dazs Leicester Square has become one of the coolest hang outs in Leicester Square and the West End of London.

http://www.hostels247.com/hostel_247blog_Hagen__Dazs/

I find myself on may occasions, especially Friday and Saturday Nights, enjoying a chat with friends over selections of cocktails, and mouth watering ice creams in Hagen-Dazs.

What is great about this place, is no-one can resist Hagen-Dazs ice cream, a smooth cocktail, cake or brownie, cup of Coffee or Hote Chocolate and a great view.

As someone that loves great architecture, the building Hagen-Dazs is in, is one of my favorite buildings in Leicester Square, right in the centre of all the action, from the amazing views from the first floor of Hagen-Dazs you can see the whole Square, and just watch the world go by. If you happen to be there on the day of a movie premier, its like a front row seat, first class ticket, with added benefit of Ice Cream!

To the ground floor lounge area and take away, so if you’re on the move there’s no excuse not to have some Hagen-Dazs.

Hagen-Dazs Leicester Square, you could say is a lover hide out.

I had a similar evil staff experience to Ahunter. I like ice cream as much as the next person, but it’s really not worth the effort to come here.

It was POURING with rain when we get here, but we were asked not to wait in the doorway. We had to wait outside in the cold. When we pointed out that there was an empty table inside, the woman ignored me and walked off. When we finally got seated she ignored us and walked off. In fact, everyone ignored us! And all she did all night was glare at us. Why? What did we do wrong?

We even got hassle when we complained about waiting ages for the bill. It’s not like this is a posh place. It’s ice cream for goodness sake. Expensive ice cream at that.

I’ll buy it from the supermarket and eat it on the sofa instead. The service in my house is excellent and I can eat the whole tub all at once! Yay!

The reasons why I love Haagen Daz firstly its sells so many flavours of ice cream and secondly Qype’s head office is just on top of Haagen Daz so i can go before work, after work and even during work.

But seriously, its a great place to chillax have some coffee with cookies if you dont fancy an icre cream.

I tried their Crepe once and to be honest did not like it, I just dont think it complements the ice cream but the waffles on the other hand, I can eat every day.

Can be very busy on a friday so try not to get there too late if you want to eat in.

They may have delicious ice cream, but after being chastised by one of the staff in Haagen-Dazs today, i feel it is my duty to tell the world. Let me set the scene -

We were sitting outside the shop in the Haagen Dazs seating area when it began to rain. We had about 1/2 a coffee left, so we decided to go inside to the indoor seating area. As soon as we sat down with our coffees we were immediately approached by an ill tempered staff member and were informed that customers who purchase £3.50 coffees in cardboard cups cannot bring them into the inside area.
“But it’s raining” i said….
“Sorry you must leave” she replied.
“But you only have 3 customers sat down. The area looks like it could accommodate 50!”.
“Sorry, please leave” she said again.
“Are you honestly telling me you are going to make us (customers!) drink this coffee in the pouring rain outside”
“Yes” She said coldy.

This is where i almost lost it. Wild thoughts of pulling out a sawn off shotgun, firing into the ceiling and announcing to everyone that the sheriff was in town and that he was taking no prisoners. But alas, in true English fashion, i held my tongue. Instead, i vent my frustration here (where it will probably reach more people anyway).

Review in one line: Great ice cream, crap staff. It’s as simple as that.

Yeah it’s full of tourists and it’s overpriced and non-organic etc…but this place has two things going for it:

1) It sells ice cream.

2) It’s underneath the Qype UK HQ.

I don’t think I need to offer any more explanation than that do I?

I went for banoffee and pralines and cream and it was just what the doctor ordered (if the doctor was Dr Ice Cream and he was a specialist in tasty goodness).

I did feel sick afterwards but not sick enough tot stop me going back the next time the sun comes out (which may well be sometime around August 2010).

I love Haagen Daz ice cream so naturally this is the place to be. They sell drinks there too besides ice-cream. You can have ice-cream and a hot chocolate which is beautiful. I love cookies and cream and chocolate ice-cream. The whole atmosphere of this place is like a restaurant except that it sells ice-cream instead of food. I had so much chocolate that day that I said I wouldn’t have so much chocolate the next time I went back. When we went back we still had all the chocolatey things we had from the time before. I can never say no tot his place. Its a great place to go too even in winter.

I almost wished this place sold hot food as well, that way I’d have an excuse to be there more. The plethora of choice of desserts is sinful, but if you are an ice-cream connoiseur you have to visit at least once. The hot waffle, cold ice-cream combo is another must try, and do visit regularly as the menu does alter throughout the year. Staff are extremely accommodating, which is always inviting.

The shock of my life a restaurant that serves nothing more then Ice Cream and nice side drinks like my favourite hot chocolate sounds like heaven I didn’t believe when I was told of this place course had to try it for myself and of course I was wrong and of course the Ice Cream was scrumptious and I wanted to come back. Expect the same treatment as if it was a food restaurant serving very good quality food up West because it’s an Ice Cream restaurant serving up quality presentable Ice cream up West. Presentation of the food is exquisite. The Ice Cream can be filling so make sure you come prepared.

Ok, it might be overrated, it might be overcrowded with tourists, it might have a slow service, but it all fades away when you taste their deliciously warm waffle covered in maple syrup along with a scoop of pralines and cream and another of dulce de leche - it’s worth every single pence of it’s £6,40 price. Everytime I order this to share I kinda regret - I want it all for myself! Avoid it on weekends, though - the queues might get huge and the service even slower. But do go on a weekday afternoon and just throw yourself in a sofa while you wait for your treat. They also have a take-away place, for a quick ice-cream fix.

This place is great. It is decorated in a very stylish way, it is very clean and staff are very courteous and helpful as soon as you step inside. The prices are a bit steep, but expected for the area. The deserts they have are original, such as a hot chocolate with ice cream inside and biscuits, and skewers with fruit. Everything we ate was nice but we did feel sick after with soo much chocolate! it was worth it though. for two, the bill came to £20.

If you like ice-cream, this place should be on you ‘must visit’ list. They have the full range of Hagen Daz flavours plus all the limited edition ice-cream & sorbet flavours. The menu changes seasonally to include, not just ice-cream & sorbet, but hot chocolates, hot & cold coffee variations, cookies, brownies, cocktails (alcoholic & non-alcoholic) and fruit based desserts. They have loads of seating both upstairs and downstairs, with a mixture of comfy sofas and smaller round tables with chairs as well as a take-away section by the entrance. Always a pleasure to visit, even in the colder months.
