The Ivory is an excellent place to enjoy really good food with the added luxury of having plenty of vegetables to accompany your meal. Some restaurants seem to have lost the art of providing decent (or any) vegetables but this very clean, airy restaurant has it all. The staff are well trained and very attentive to detail. The Tapas evenings are especially good with a fantastic array of interesting food and it can all be washed down with a pint or two of Doom Bar which is one of the best local ales in Cornwall. Prices are very reasonable and a visit is recommended.

Formally the Grove, this restaurant is now under new management, with the kitchen under the capable leadership of the former sous chef. The restaurant is light and airy, with modern decor, rural views, a garden, outside dining in summer, and has no musak.
They have an ambitious offer of morning coffee, lunch, cream teas, and dinner. This is a rare fine dining option in the Helston area. A recent lunch saw my party enjoy starters of tempura battered king prawns, and chicken, avocado and pancetta salad (both £4.25). We majored on mains of roasted pork belly with celeriac mash and bok choi; and duck leg confit (£10.95 and £9.95 respectively). These came with a choice of potatoes (the Mediterranean ones with garlic and rosemary were excellent), and a mixture of vegetables. We were finished off with fresh fruit pavlova. The whole meal, with wine, was £25 per head. Service is friendly and efficient, and waiting times reasonable (although they weren't busy). While the food lacks a little in imagination or intensity of flavour, this is really an excellent standard for the price.
