staff were friendly I work in kitchens myself i thought the food was lovely & fresh
great value for money .
the pub it's self just needs a make over but hey that would cost to much money in these hard times . Chef keep up the good work ,
If you want a good cheap meal and plenty of it, go to the Hare and Hounds! and stop complaining!

Not a pleasant dining experience! Rather rude staff, long queues to be seated at a table, at the bar, at the very small carvery area (which is totally inadequate considering how many tables there are in the place). We payed for the ‘go large’ option (ahem, we were VERY hugry!) and when we asked the carvery servers what that actually entailed, we were made to feel like idiots for asking but were told in a very disgruntled manner that we would receive extra meat. We actually received one slice of each of the three meats which were available which left us rather confused… would we have received only half a slice of each on the regular option- hmmmmm!? The food was acceptable- I suppose you get what you pay for but we were disappointed with the cauliflower cheese which was very bland and you certainly don’t get lovely crispy roast potatoes!
On the plus side- we didn’t have to wash up!

we have been 3 times, passable food, u get what you pay for. not as good as my roasts though so i am told. chefs need to smole more when serving and carving, totally a put off to be served by glum chefs. 2nd time we went we waited 35 minutes for our dessert, which i may add we thought was alittle over the top.we will no doubt go again at some point in the future, when hopefully the chefs will be having a good day and make you feel wanted and not just like you are a nuisance. s.yates, cheshire

AWFUL!
Don’t bother going here. We walked in to find no one there to seat us so we thought we would just find a table ourselves but to be rudely told to get back and wait for someone to seat us.
AWFUL VEGGIE OPTION, DONT BOTHER IF YOU’RE VEGETARIAN.
when the average veggie nut roast isnt available, they expect you to be satisfied with having LASAGNE or CHILLI with your carvery!!
I asked for tap water, for it never to arrive.
The place is just too hot, they dont seem to have any air con- which is just great in the height of summer.
The serivce at the cavery counter isnt great either, they dislike giving more than one yorkshire pudding per person.
However, the deserts are nice, but by the time i was finished i was so annoyed by the service that it was just impossible to enjoy it.
My conclusion- this place is CHEAP but not CHEERFUL.

If you like to be served food by someone who does not smile at you and makes you feel like you should not be there, and to be waited on by a very rude irish lady who will argue with you and comment that your child should not have his ice cream because he has not eaten all his dinner then this is the place to go.
We have been twice now and both times have had this woman and she is awfull. wont be going again food not that good and that women a rude pain in the backside, try the old hall instead

Good Friday, about 5.30. Very hot day, few people outside, very few inside. Chose to sit outside at front. Nice table and chairs with brolly. Very sunny so wearing a sailing hat with a peak. Went in to order drinks, pounced on immediately and asked if I wanted a table. Loads of staff hovering wearing ill fitting uniforms bear all the hallmarks of a chain pub. Served at the bar by a lady in a dress, so possibly landlady. Walking back through pub with a drink in each hand young lad came up to me and said "would you take off your hat as we have a no hat policy". Said I was on my way outside and no spare hand to take it off so carried on 5 metres to door. Didn't bother with food and will never bother with the place again. Seems like they have more rules than customers.

Well, if you like to queue this is your place. Sunday 27th- late lunch, same as weekday lunch but £2.00 dearer. Firstly queue to be seated, when you've done that you queue to buy your carvery ticket. Food- quite good, vegs a bit watery but edible, meat delicious with a range of sauces, gravy and condiments. Seated and first course finished, a lady quickly clears you table without a word. Ten mins later still waiting for desert order to be ocollected, I caught the eye of the grumpy manager to be told, you need to queue to order your sweet. We like coffee hot and later not with sweet (which was very nice) and so in all we queued 4 times and it didn't feel like a treat but more of a canteen lunch. So with 1 for food and 1 for speed with which the table was cleared; I award them 2stars

whilst the food is ok and good value for money the landlady and some of the staff are incredibly rude and unhelpful,
apparently you are not aloud to have your own birthday cake in the pub.....new one on me since i have never had this problem in much higher class establishments....think the owner has got to big for her boots!!!
I agree with the review. The meat served is tender and tasty but they are a little stingy with it. Loads of veg though!

The Hare and Hounds is a busy pub but it’s main attraction is that it offers carvery lunches, seven days a week. The prices are good, £3.99 for a main course Mon - Sat and £5.99 on Sundays. You may have to wait a while because it does get busy but you can get a really nice lunch. Starters and puds are also available but a main course is probably enough for most people. Drinks and coffee are reasonably priced and the service is good. Disabled access and toilets are available. Worth a visit!
