I was a customer in the shop when this complaint was made. I think that if you have a genuine complaint the appropriate course of action would be to return to the salon to visually show what you are not happy with. It is unfair to demand a refund and compensation when you have not given the salon recourse. This would allow them to see that your complaint was indeed genuine. It is also unfair to leave a derogatory coment with out giving the salon these opportunites. I have been a customer at lindsay Gillies for years, as have several family and friends, this is the first complaint I am aware of. I would recommend the salon.

Bought a groupon voucher and wish i hadnt, i have been cancelled on, called up saying i made an appointment when i had already been cancelled on and treated like an idiot! Havent even used the voucher and somehow its been redeemed accrding to groupon. Wouldnt reccommend this place to anyone and wish groupon looked at some reviews before advertising this deal on their site – seems like a total scam to get ur cash but not actually cut ur hair. Ive now complained to groupon who are investigating the company so fingers crossed i get my money back!!!
Got a groupon voucher for this hairdressers and wish I hadn’t bothered! The whole experience was terrible from start to finish (including the shabbiness of the place and having to listen to the owner’s swearing). I’ve never left a hairdresser’s feeling like my hair wasn’t done and I definitely didn’t have the WOW factor! My colour looked ok from the top, but when I went through it afterwards, I found large sections that hadn’t been touched. I got a 2nd opinion from 2 hairdressers round the corner from Lindey Gillies and was told that the hairdresser has sliced in and hasn’t used enough colour all through. One said that they definitely are not selling the company well through Groupon and have done it as cheap as they can.
I have tried for weeks and Lindsey Gillies have refused to fix my hair so I want to let everyone know that you would be making a HUGE mistake going here – what a waste of money! Infact, they even charge you extra for any more than 2 colours and if you want your hair straightened. Keep away!
`Lindsey has been doing my hair for a number of years now, she has a vast clientele of many hardwording westender weather business people or office workers. She is very passionate and keen when it comes to hairdressing and infact comes from a family of hairdressers (her mother also had a shop). If you ask Lindsey for a trim, you get a trim, if you ask for a certaincut, you get it and she does her best, she has had many years experience. She has never once kept me waiting for an appointment and always gets me a cup of coffee and a biscuit while my colour takes.
I felt compelled to write this review due to the unfair reviews above, my instinct is their appointments has not been with Lindsey and rather another stylist, being in business myself I know you entirely cannot control who you employ and as a number of the appointments given above are from the vast amount of groupons deals done in which Lindsey has given a hairdresser a chance to boost their clientele. Unfortunately you can get some people who expectations will not be met, however if you go to Lindsey she will achieve your expectations and more.
Had hair cut on 24.11.11 and although average cut, I will not go back or reconmend to others. Mainly due to it being such an impersonal experience and the hairdresser making comments I was offended by.
Turned up for my appointment having phoned to confirm the week before and the shop was closed; I stood outside for 15 minutes and the phone was going constantly. When I tried to phone, there was no answermachine.
Tried to phone the next day, still no answer.
Lucky that I went to Charlie Miller that day, around the corner where I have been before and they fitted me in.
Using a groupon voucher I got my hair cut and coloured by Jen, fab cut and gorgeous colour couldn't be happier. She spent 2 hours on my hair and listened to exactly what I wanted. The salon was very busy, so I was left sitting for a little bit otherwise I would have given 5*. I will be booking a future appointment!
I used my Groupon voucher yesterday and got a terrible haircut. I now have a 2inch square missing from the front of my bob.
The owner of the shop ridiculed me for buying a cheap deal on Groupon and said I couldn't expect much and why hadn't I gone back to my usual hairdresser!

It’s a hairdresser’s job to keep the customer satisfied and bad hair makes a huge difference to an individual. It’s unacceptable that this was not fixed for you and I don’t see any derogatory comment here. (Just honesty and fairness.) I think this place is used to their regular customers, looks to me like you wouldn’t have had an issue if you had gone to get your perm done there.
First time I've been to a hair salon in about 10 years and only went here because I had a Group-on voucher, however, what a lovely place. Considering where the salon is, they weren't at all up themselves. Very friendly and not at all patronising. The girl who cut my hair, Nici, was lovely and really listened to what I wanted from my hair AND gave me it! I came away with a really nice haircut, lots of advice on how to manage my hair and no pressure to make another appointment. I have every intention of going back again even without the incentive of a Group-on voucher.
