We had a very similar experience of Powder white when we stayed in Courchevel 1850 January 2011. Essentially customer service does not seem to be the priority for this company – if it did they wouldn’t use school leavers/university gap year students to run the chalets who have no experience of what a family want or need. These chalets are not cheap to take over for a week or 2, the food was extremely average, kitchen filthy, and again like you we had no one meet us on the first night and had to waste in total about an hour looking for the chalet apartment. I will write a full review – but can relate entirely to your experience.

We recently stayed at the chalet Orchidee in Courchevel 1650 and had a fantastic holiday. The chalet was lovely and although quite modern in style, it was also very cosy, not to mention the luxury of having a jacuzzi and steam room downstairs which we used every day after skiing. The chalet has certainly set the bench mark for our next ski holiday! Georgie our chalet host was great, very friendly and an excellent cook although our waistlines expanded somewhat as the week went on! This was our first holiday with Powder White and we were very impressed with every aspect of it and will most certainly be back next year.

A warm welcome awaited us in Courchevel 1650 in February this year – just what you expect from a competent chalet company: (lit) open log fire, delicious home made cake and really welcoming chalet host. We stayed in a beautifully decorated chalet located just down the road from the centre of town and the lifts which could have been a problem had the promised shuttle service not been available. But reliable as Powder White turned out to be, it was available at the times we specified each day and was not at all a problem throughout the week. The menu was broad and our host never left us hungry! From booking to departure, this really turned out to be a truly worthwhile holiday in every aspect and as I was introduced to this company by my friends I would undoubtedly pass the message on.

Just returned from a great trip to Courchevel 1650 with Powder White. We had fantastic skiing and sun (which always makes for a good week!) and this was really rounded off by staying in a lovely chalet close to the village center (well done John for a good choice!).
Our chalet host Abi was absolutely lovely. She was clearly have a lot of fun but knew where to draw the line in terms of service for us – she also recommended a couple of great bars (Schuss and the Bullotte) which weren’t too staff orientated – always a bonus. The food was delicious and I loved the fact that we had nice dinner wines over and above the red and white house wines which we could have whenever we wanted.
Our party leader booked through an agent but when I needed to speak directly to Powder White to pre-book my ski passes and ski hire, they couldn’t have been more helpful and friendly. I think they are a very professional company and I would definitely recommend them to others.

We were made to feel so at home by our chalet host and were so well looked after the whole week – in fact probably too much so, I think despite all the great skiing, I managed to put on a few pounds, but the afternoon tea was just too tempting to miss out on each day and I could never decide on a course to forgo instead because it always looked so yummy!
The chalet was beautiful and so well kept – you could tell that Jack took real pride in welcoming us into his chalet and was so sweet in making it so nice for us to come home to each day.
We’ll definitely be travelling with Powder White in future and probably doing the rounds of other resorts with them, there’ s a great choice within the real big named resorts. I’d definitely say that whilst it’s been lovely going back to a familiar resort year on year (always Verbier until this year when we headed to the 3 Valleys), there’s so much else on offer out there and it’s great to make the very most of a new ski area! Now we’ve found Powder White we’ll be more confident in branching out further and visiting other resorts with them.

POWDERWHITE MERIBEL – NO THANKS! Not very impressed at all. The bad experience started as soon as we arrived at the airport and we had to walk for 20 minutes to the van with all our ski gear and luggage it seems because the driver didn’t want to pay for out front parking. The driver had no clue how to pack the equipment into the car and nearly wrecked my friends new snowboard.
The Chalet in Meribel is situated right next to the open all night “Dicks Tea Bar/The Den” and we basically didn’t get any sleep the entire week, we were largely too tired to enjoy the snowboarding and we were gutted because the snow and conditions were superb.
The chalet hosts were lovely people but the food was very average and quite stingy. i.e: instant coffee, no espresso and “cheese plates” where you get one slice of cheese and a cracker per person. All of this would have perhaps been acceptable if it was reflected in the price but at £599 PP for a 11 person stay (you do the math!) we expected better. Having stayed at many different chalets and resorts over the years we have a lot to compare too and I’m afraid Powderwhite, you didn’t cut the mustard.

Nearly didn’t get home! We stayed in a chalet in Verbier booked through a company called Powder White Ltd and travelled with my wife’s best friends family. There was 11 of us in total and just about fit into the chalet Payana which looked fair from the outside but was much nicer inside. The living room was spacious and had a great open fire. Our favourite thing about the chalet was the veranda that had fantastic views of the valley and spent a lot of time there in the evenings. Also the ski lifts were nearby which made getting to the slopes easier. Verbier was nice but we were lucky the Pound got us more Euros as some restaurants can be expensive and even soft drinks can cost a lot. We were a bit anxious as what to do as this was our first time in Verbier but what Powder White don’t tell you when you book is that you get a pack before you leave that gives you a lot of information that you would need. Anyway we have only just got back but nearly did not make it because there was a road blocked and we could have missed our flight but the staff already knew about it and ensured we gout out early enough to make our flight which rounded off a great holiday nicely.

I went on a ski holiday with my husband & kids with Powder White just when the heavy snows came and it was a little scary but the staff were very helpful and made sure that we were catered for and helped keep the children calm. We stayed in St Anton in Austria and the 6 person chalet was very fairly priced as we got an early booking discount and the chalet was in a very good place close to ski lifts & shops. Because of the heavy the snow we were not able to ski sometimes but was given a entertainment package to keep us busy which the kids loved. The price was fair and the food was decent but what saved our holiday was the staff and we really appreciate it, the chalet hosts were brilliant. I would advise to book your ski passes and lessons before going as we had to pay local prices which can be quite high.

I have just got back from a holiday with Powder White and I could not fault it – from booking the holiday over the phone, to the pre-holiday arrangements of ski passes, ski hire, my eldest child’s special dietary requirements, and other non-ski acitivities for my mother-in-law, everything was delivered on time and with a smile. Our chalet was very comfortable, and our chalet hosts Sarah and Ben were absolutely charming and great fun with the kids. The only problem that we had on our holiday was arguably too much snow – but I guess I shouldn’t complain about that! It was an awesome holiday – well done Powder White!

We had the misfortune to book a holiday with this company in courcheval 1850, christmas 2011 at Chalet St Christophe. Great location.
Lovely Host, good cook and very likeable young man. Main meals ok but very small portions. Canapes tiny, afternoon tray bakes tiny. Paid for catering for 8 people, certainly did not have enough food for 8.
Dinner wines for 8 people=6xwhite 6xred for the week! Unlimited house wines.
Dishwasher broken all week, filthy dishes, no heating in main room, had to light fire in morning to get warm, supplied us with small fan heater.
Paid £300 for private transfer through Powder White, it was late, believe it or not, due to bad weather……… my family just made their flight, and had quite a scary journey because they were late.
When I contacted The Director of this company she accused me of making up my complaints about our holiday because they would not re-imburse me anything for being late for our transfer.
I have never dealt with such a rude lady as the Director of this company, Customer Service does not exist, instead, if you dare to complain she jumps on the defensive.
She made comments about the chalet hosts personal hygiene, which I never brought in to question, I don’t know where that came from, it certainly did not come from me.
Can I confirm, the chalet and location were fine, just not the company we booked our holiday through, never again with Powder White.
I wonder if the fellow Directors are aware of how their clients are handled and whether this is Company policy or just an individual who does not really care about the future of its business.

Courchevel 1850 January 2011
Where do i start….? Arrived tired with 2 young children and taxi dropped us outside the building – but we had no idea which appartment was ours as there was no number just the name on the email confirmation i took with us (bear in mind the apartment block has about 100 apartments!!). No one to meet us despite ringing the resort manager who assured us or host would come out to meet us… 2 more phone calls and 45mins later we finally met him – young chap just finished school.
It went from bad to worse – cooked food dreadful, had to ask continually for items to be put on the table. We bought some salt and pepper for the table as he didnt have any! Expired yoghurts. No second servings offered – instead food thrown away at the end of the meal; in the end we just asked for more as portions were tiny. Filthy kitchen and mouldy vegetables strewn in a bottom cupboard. My mum and i cleaned the kitchen one evening as it was so bad. We spoke with the resort manager who was concerned but again she was very young and didn’t seem comfortable to the pull up our chalet host for his poor service.
Host failed to turn up to cook breakfast one day – overslept, Failed to deliver our 2nd week lift passes and we had the embarassment of the kids ski school ringing us to tell us our kids couldn’t go on their lessons as their lift passes had expired!
I completed an evaulation questionnaire as requested when we got back from holiday – now nearly a year later i still haven’t had any response. Until i saw the reviews here i had given up bothering, but will not use this company ever again and will never recommend it to others. In 18years of skiing this has to be our worst ever experience of a chalet ski holiday and believe me we have done many both with and without our children. Be careful if you do go ahead and book with Powderwhite.

Had already booked a skiing holiday with Powder White before reading the reviews. Actually turned out there were only 1 or 2 bad reviews so I went ahead with anticipation and stayed in the Chalet Antares in Courchevel 1650. The chalet was advertised as a 6 person chalet but we found there were 2 extra beds. The chalet was clean and in good order although our TV stopped working on the 2nd day. This was quickly replaced so had no quarrels with the property which actually was well located as everything was just a few minutes walk away.
We opted for a catered chalet and the food was surprisingly good although we thought the wine list was a little expensive. The chalet was run by 2 female hosts who were quite nice and funny although a bit young they did a good job. As mentioned in a previous post there was a bit of noise from a neighbouring chalet but I can’t help feeling we were just as noisy with our 3 kids.
All in all we had a good time and was happy with our ski holiday. If I had any criticism is that neighbours can be noisy so next time we will stay in an independent chalet but will use Powder White again.

We went to Val d’Isère with Powder White and had the worst experience we have ever had on any holiday.
No one was there to greet us on the first night, so we had to search for the chalet in the cold, with our luggage on toe.
For the next two nights, we did not sleep because the members of another group in the chalet were running up and down stairs, screaming, smashing glasses, opening the doors to the bedrooms (there are no locks), urinating on the bedroom doors and, as we found out on the morning of our second day stealing money from one of the chalet girls’ wallets. This was brushed off by the chalet girls in the morning and therefore reoccurred (but for the urinating and theft of money) on the night.
The food was also very average; our chalet was maintained and the meals were prepared by two young ladies between secondary school and university, so the standard is not very high.
We spoke to the Powder White manager at the resort about this, but he offered no alternatives so we left for a hotel. We ended up being about 800 euros out of pocket; Powder White never contributed towards any of this nor did they ever apologise.
We now have no alternative but to commence legal action against them; be warned!

lizzyflips, 4 December 2011:
I recommend you check out this company as they do some great deals and are very accomodating and friendly. Great to have a company that does the hard work for you and sources what you need when you need it.

I booked a chalet in val d'isere with Powder White Ltd last christmas, The ski resort was really cool but a bit on the expensive side so make sure u take extra money if you go on your skiing holiday in val d isere The chalet was clean and cosy, not as big as I though it would be but could easily accommodate up to 12 people with 5 bathrooms which was a godsend.
We booked a few extras wit our chalet which included full catering to ski passes and ski hire. We used the childcare services which allowed us to book some wine and relax in the evenings. The nightlife in val d'isere is quite vibrant and we could hear lots of revelers walking past the chalet. On the other hand the ski lift was within walking distance which made up for it.
Will book with powder white for my next skiing holiday in 2012 although I wil get one of the premium chalets nesteled in the heart of val d isere.
