I went for lunch at the Italian Kitchen and used a Taste Card to get 2 for 1. The food was fine, but it was nothing special and the service was a bit haphazard. The actual restaurant is rather dark and weirdly formal for somewhere that does lunchtime deals on pasta essentially. It was fine and probably gets a good trade from passing tourists but I probably won’t go there again.
Not a great restaurant. Unless you have a special offer it is expensive - especially the drinks. The fact that the (high) prices for beer are not provided on the menu is also a drawback. I ordered pizza and it was without a doubt one of the worst I've ever eaten in a restuarant. If you're looking for good quality pizza I would suggest that Pizza Express or ASK would be considerably better than this establishment.
Without doubt the worst service I have ever had.
To say that the waiter was not even able to tell my girlfriend the time we're clearly in unchartered territory.
Food arrived cold and seperately. Seafood risotto normally consists of more than two mussels, three cockles and a prawn. Requested water never arrived, witers running all over the place despite the restaurant not remotely being busy.
Unfathomable.
Never to go again, and will make it quite clear that no-one else should.
A quaint independent Italian restaurant in a very good location! Very homely feel, although it is a somewhat small restaurant so best for groups of 2-4 only.
The menu is quite varied, with pizzas, pastas, and potato dishes. However, I can say that pizza is definitely not their forte. Nothing wrong with it, but Pizza Express and Prezzo do much better pizzas.
In terms of prices it is slightly pricey. Nearly £2.50 for a coke, and the pizzas and pastas are more expensive than the Italian chains in London (£8.50-£12). This is especially so since most of the chains have now started 2 for 1 promotions (e.g. Pizza Express), which makes these pizzas cost double the competition for lower quality.
Very Good food and brilliant service. The Italian restaurant is quite small and can get very cramped. It’s a good idea to reserve a table in advanced if possible. Would defiantly go back.
Tasty and simple Italian food, done well and without fuss. What more would you want?! I went for lunch; we had bread and olive oil and olives while we chose what to eat. Both were delicious- so an excellent start. I had the salmon which was very tasty and the sides of green beans and spinach were really good. Wasn’t such a fan of the potatoes, but all in all, I thought the food was outstanding. Really good coffee to finish and a good wine selection.
I’d recommend this place for a good meal or a catch up with friends. The decor is maybe in need of an update, so not ideal if you want to impress, but the food does make up for this.
This is a very small quaint italian just a few minutes walk from the hussle and bussle of Oxford Street. Blink and you may miss it when you walk past.
On entering the restaurant your senses are hit by the aroma of garlic and the delights of what is to come.
I found the staff to be very helpful and attentive, but not too in your face. The food was very good and reasonably priced for the area.
However, I would not recommend for largish group, as I don’t think the have the room, unless you booked the whole restaurant.
This is a pretty good Italian restaurant in central London. Bookings are essential during the week as it's generally booked up by the local businesses. Simple Italian flavours here and prices are decent. Try toptable (www.toptable.co.uk) for good 2-4-1 deals at this place
In central London it’s amazing to get anything approaching good value. This was a pretty good deal. Excellent pasta. Very good lamb chops iundeed - and very pleasant people. The fact that it was packed out for lunch on a Tuesday is the best indication, I imagine
A rarity in central London, this has the feel of a really good neighbourhood Italian, with consistently good food at very reasonable prices. It’s a smallish, cosy, restaurant just where New Oxford Street meets the northern end of Shaftesbury Avenue. Have taken quite a few foodie people here and all have been pleased. Pretty popular so best to book.
Always realiable, traditional italian retaurant. Great pasta always fresh. Well worth a visit for lunch or pre theatre or a night on the tiles. Try a bottle of Valpolicella with some garlic bread and a fresh bowl of tagliatelle al slmon, followed by fresh coffee
