The owner was literally bullying you in the street. I hope he loses his business.

To get a cut, condition and blow dry in central London you are looking at price from at least £40 upwards and considering my treatment at Eclipse only cost me £19 it was a total bargain and to be honest I would have been happy to have paid £40 for the service.

I bought one of those £19.00 vouchers off wowcher and was really looking forward to go and have my hair done. I've just phone them to book an appointment and the guy over the phone was very rude I asked him how which station is closer to get to the salon and he replied back is there not a map on the voucher. I said no he said there was a map on the website before the order. He didn't even reply to my question. I was extremely disappointed with his ATTITUDE over the phone and even more with the reviews on here. I am just going to get a refund now and will not go there.

KATELIN, 7 May 2012:
Just wanted to add my comments, I couldn’t agree with everyone more. They clearly use the wowcher/KGB offers to get customers in and then tell them they need a full head of highlights and charge them more money. When I arrived I felt really uncomfortable and could see the way they were persuading customers to have a full head. They made me wait 45 minutes, when I asked if I was going to be seen the hairdresser said after he had had a fag! I didn’t want any of them touching my hair, look completely dodgy. They tried to ‘up sell’ me a full head, and I said no way. Luckily, I decided then they were dodgy, I just said no thanks and left and got a full refund from Wowcher. It’s a shame as I have used other vouchers which have been fine, but this had completely put me off using any vouchers in the future I will now pay full price, it’s not worth the stress!! Agree with all the other reviews – don’t touch with a barge pole!

It was all going ok until the stylist turned my hair blue by putting the wrong toner on it. Literally blue. I’d just gone in for root retouch and highlights and came out Katy Perry-d.

The worst salon I have been to. Bought half head highlights with groupon, told I should get a full head. Fine. They said that to everyone. I had to ask for water, no magazines offered. Hairdresser spent 3.5 hours doing the worst highlight ever. He and the owner spent more time telling me what amazing hairdressers they were. If someone has to tell u that, they are not. Girl on reception cannot speak English and was openly fighting with customers who she cancelled appointments for, the owner stood by and said nothing. She also stole money from his wallet and knew I saw her. I was going to go back for a correction but could not face being in the company of these people again. The place is creepy and obviously a front for something else. Do not go there.

DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ,bought a kgb-deal for half head and cut and finish, owner refused to do saying i needed a full head and it would be more money if not i could get a refund off of kgb-deals. i got a train journey for this salon so wasted my day, i have never met such rude people they have no customer skills and do not care i have given it one star because it wont let me publish it otherwise but it deserves none.

Couldnt agree more. This salon is horrible and creepy.
The worst experience, though the hairdresser who was with me was really good. But as I understood the owner who was there, tall guy had a daughter there with her friend practising there or “helping”,she barely could talk english and did’t have any customer service skills. The daughter is the one who was making it look so inprofessonal, talking there in italian to her friend (who actially was nice, quiet and friendly). But what is the most unpleasant is that I came in a jacket and a scarf, they put it away and in 5 min I saw the daugher walking with my scarf on her neck for about 10 min!!!Did you ever experience this??? I am sure not! I was sure till the end it was just the similar one, but when I was getting my clothes back I realised it was mine! When I said its not nice that she worn it, she said: “no, i thought it is my friend’s” Not even sorry. But not just this made my visit so unpeasant. I did my highlights and these two girls were taking out the foils, mostly daughter so painfully, then were brushing my hair for 30 min wripping all hair off, cant say anything bad about her friend as she was very careful and attentive. I never was in such a pain, then the owner finally noticed my suffering and came to help. He saw its hard to brush and said that I need to condition my hair regulary as they are dry, but what they haven’tdone is that they didn’t put enough conditioning when they were washing my hair there, thats why it was impossible to brush long thick hair, and he said: ""you need to come here more often so we condition them" No way! I condition my hair home and never ever have problems with brushing them!!! Lost100s of hair there during brushing and sculp still hurts.

Yes, that girl was very strange and rude. I saw her stealing money and she knew I saw her. I was going to tell the owner but he was such a prat letting her argue with people, I just left them to it. I told him my hair wasnt done right and he said it was the light. I bet none of them are even qualified staff.

To tell the truth, the guy who ve done my highlights done it well, everyone like my hair now. it was afro american guy with funny bit of hair on the front of his head. He is good, but the owner and his daugher ruining this place. Want to come back to that guy but not sure if i want to see the rest of people who made this experience so painfull and unpleasant. Was it the owner, tall guy, who ve done your golour?
I bought a voucher through kgb-deals to the Eclipse hair salon and had half head highlights, cut and blow dry done. I had to wait about half an hour after arriving but the salon was busy so did not make a fuss about it. Once they have started doing my hair everyone was very nice and professional. In the end I walked out very pleased and absolutely happy with my hair! I would recommend it to everyone and definitely would go back again.

I visited Eclipse in 2009 and had a terrible hair loss experience after having semi-permanent dye; they failed to carry out a skin test; the dye was left on my hair for more than 40 mins because they were so busy.
I wrote to the owner based in central London and he refused to acknowledge the mistake. I was distraught because I lost my growth of hair that has never been the same again. The though of becoming bald was terrifying; I was so very depressed about it.
Eclipse neither apologised nor offered any form of compensation; they refused to be held accountable even though it was their sheer negligence that caused my hair to fall out the very next day.

KATELIN, 7 May 2012:
What a horrible experience.
I once managed to sue a salon by getting a 2nd opinion signed by another hairdresser along with their opinion of the cost of rectifying it. Plus a photo of how bad the cut was.
I used the template letters on CONSUMER DIRECT website & won in the small claims court.
I wasn’t greedy, I just wanted my £59 haircut price back which the salon had REFUSED to pay.
Plus I wanted damages, also extra for my time & admin. So I got £150.00 back via the court It was the principle of justice that mattered to me as the salon owner had been so vile!
It was GREAT to win – as the salon owner had destroyed my hair & made me cry for weeks.
He literally scalped me on purpose & just laughed saying. -“Go on, sue me!” – as if it could never happen. This sort of disdainful, arrogant attitude towards the needs of customers is all too prevalent in hair salons.
Some seem to glean perverted pleasure from deliberately NOT giving you what you requested & seem to LIKE the fact that you’re vulnerable. As if they ‘get off’ on having the power to make or break the quality of your life for months on end with a few evil scissor hacks.
Last week another sneering hairdresser MASSACRED my hair.
I’m utterly SICK of hairdressers who just DON’T care & abuse the trust given to them by clients. It’s legalised assault.

NOTE to the WORLD -
*****************************************************
If ANYONE KNOWS A HAIRDRESSER WHO CAN CUT A STYLISH PRECISION BOB – PLEEEEEEEEEEASE LET ME KNOW.
Thank youI’m all out of hair & money to sacrifice at what are too often no more than legalised ASSAULT & fleecing centres – otherwise known as ‘hair-salons’
Took up the Free Colour with Cut + Blow-Dry offer at Eclipse and I had a very positive experience. Nothing compared to what other users have described.
The salon apparently has been refurbished and it looks amazing. I have found my hairdresser, Elaine. She took one look at my hair and told me why my hair was so tangly and dry; most hairdressers use bleach on dark hair to achieve blonde quickly, leaving your hair dry, damaged and likely to break. So she recommended using a lighter blonde to lift the hair and it looks so natural, healthy and the cut suits me perfectly.
TO ALL READERS…I ran a florists for 8 years and the amount of bad reviews I received because of pernicious, selfish scroungers lead to me closing my doors. This is a classic example; try Eclipse and I hope you have the same experience as I did…I am certainly going back! Already booked next appointent for my Brazilian Blow-Out!
Elaine you are amazing!

I regularly get my hair coloured here, and it’s healthier than its ever been before. I’ve always had friendly and competent service and I’ve also always been offered discounts and good deals on the treatment.
They do seem to have the card machine broken a lot of the time – but that could be coincidence…

Just had my hair done at eclipse covent garden; wonderful! Lots of energy, passion and they are really invested in their clients. I had an amazing Neals Yard Treatment that they put on my hair and my stylist Everett was great.
Whilst I was having my haircut, the girl next to me was having a Brazilian blow-dry and she was very rude to the stylist, condescending and kept on trying re-educate him as to how a Brazilian Blow-Dry should be done. Her hair looked really good, but she was so rude. I asked the manager what kind of voucher it was and he explained the offer. He then politely said most of the voucher clients are very rude and that they wouldnt be doing any more Brazilian offers again.
i found everybody to be extremely friendly, polite, professional and passionate. They even bought me a soya mocha from the cafe next door and gave me a Neals Yard treatment on the house. I really have no idea why people are writing these reviews, as I had a wonderful time and I certainly am going to come back.

I unfortunately paid for a year’s membership which entitled me to Style Consultation, an Intensive Conditioning Treatment, Deep Cleansing Treatment, Head & Scalp Massage, Colour Consultation, Sample Hihglights or semi-perm colour at Every visit all for £35 per visit. I got this from a guy in Covent Garden who was promoting it. This is the first time I have ever fallen for one of these, normally i always say I’m not interested and walk on, but since having a baby I really wanted to spruce my hair up a bit. So I went in to Eclipse today to have 2 middle aged man with questionable hairstyles as the two stylists. I sat down and the owner, a guy with awful hair and even worse, yellowing teeth (I don’t mean to be personal but I do think when you work in that industry you should have a certain look and they fell well below par), I think he was the boss man or potentially the ‘head stylist’. He lifted my hair here and there and asked if I wanted to keep the length and that he’d only take an inch or so off. I believe this was my style consultation. He took me to the sink and put a black gown on me but no towel and washed the front part of my hair, didn’t touch the back or underneath bits. Then smoothed some conditioner in over the top and washed it striahgt out with ice cold water – no massage or treatments that were due! When I said the water was cold (and it was freezing cold) he managed to warm it up and then it was scalding hot. Back at his work station he took about 30 mins trimming my hair a millimetre at a time and spent most of that time at the front so I could see what he was doing and then trimmed my layers or cut in new ones – not sure. Trimming/cutting the layerst took 2 mins max. He done that thing where they pull the hair on either side of the head and run their fingers down it to make sure the hair was the same length on both sides. Unfortunately he was pulling hair from different parts of either side of my head so there was no way it was gonna be equal. Luckily he wasn’t paying attention otherwise he would have hacked more off thinking he was evening it out. When blowdrying my hair he used a Denman Styling Brush, which I haven’t had used on my hair at a hair dressers ever. The thing was so old its plastic bristles were bent out of shape, it was missing a load of bristles and had a black bit in the middle, perhaps from where his hair dryer had burnt it? I don’t know but I didn’t want it in my hair. I felt so uncomfortable in there. The whole appointment thankfully lasted only 30mins, which is the quickest hair app I’ve had in my adult life and would have been something to complain about had I not been desperate to get out of there. At the end I asked why it was that I had not gotten both treatments or the head & scalp massage as I had paid for. He said he had put a conditioner in (the conditioner that was smoothed on my top layers after getting my hair washed) and I explained conditioner is not a treatment. The membership outlines TREATMENT. I didn’t continue arguing the point as much as I should have as I just wanted to get out of there quickly. Luckily the 5 millimetres he took off my hair is straight so I am grateful he didn’t hack it all off and leave me looking like Wurzel Gummidge. Despite spending £35 on this 1yr membership I won’t be going back there and will avoid it like the plague. I want to complain to the agency who had the promoter on the street selling the membership to this dive but I can’t find the details anywhere on the pamphlet. Also, I didn;t get a receipt and paid cash for both the membership and the hair cut. Thankfully they don’t have my bank details but I can’t prove I was there!

Dire.......
Had a Brazilian blow dry using groupon coupon deal - 3 venues advertised, but this appears to be the only one that offers the brazillian treatment. I tried to book at the Fitzrovia, which has slightly better reviews, but appointments were cancelled at short notice with a request to transfer to this branch, or I was told bookings not being taken because the Fitzrovia salon was about to close for refurbishment (I subsequently noticed that it was open during the week I'd tried to make a booking for.
Most of the conversation between staff revolved around how dangerous the chemicals were, respiratory infections it had given them; they stressed from time that it was OK for the 'ladies'. I presume they meant clients; 'Ladies' conjures up a dodgy Essex disco or a toilet - but so does the salon, so maybe not so inappropriate.
It was later disclosed that a former junior who had been rushed to A&E when she collapsed from the ill effects of the chemicals was back at work, but now based at the Fitzrovia salon, where there was no danger because they don't carry out Brazilian blowdries at that salon at all.
The treatment
I arrived on time, but had to wait while they had to finish showing the non-english speaking hairdresser who had started that day how to carry out the treatment. As she spoke no english, no questions about how I wanted the finished style to look; there was a receptionist 'translating', but she didn't appear to speak Spanish (I think that was the language of the hapless new stylist) either, translating consisted of grabbing the stylist arm and speaking very loudly - interspersed with shouted phone conversations between the receptionist and her mother.
The deal I had purchased included a cut - after first trying to sell a cut for a 25% discount on the normal price when I booked, it was conceded that this was part of the deal - so once the brazilian process was complete, I was treated to having a few lumps hacked off my hair absolutely free. Terrific.
On being offered a drink, the resulting brown stew tasted more like coffee than the tea I'd requested; later confirmed that it was, because they didn't have tea.
The most uncomfortable wash basin in the world was followed by an hour and a half perched on a high seat where my feet didn't touch the ground and no foot rest or foot stall - when I tried to adjust the seat, I was told it had to stay at the maximum height because the stylist was quite tall. I also ended up with greasy hands from touching the filthy lever to try & operate the chair.
Whilst I appreciated not having an hour and a half’s sales pitch on expensive aftercare products, other than not to let my hair get wet for three days, no aftercare advice whatsoever was offered.
I was so astounded by the whole event, I avoided writing a review for a couple of months so as not to be over judgemental. My hair is dire, nothing like after the first Brazilian treatment I'd had a few months earlier (at the excellent Comptons in Whitecross Street, brilliant), and the only thing I can think of to recommend about Eclipse is that you stay away.
