We stopped here for a quick drink. Football was on, but no volume (instead music was playing, though not too loudly), thai food looked good and was popular. I’d go back, cosy and warm overall feel, it felt like a lovely place to spend a cold afternoon.

Lovely pub, really good times in this little pub, but I did get my phone stolen the last time I was in.

Review of Coach & Horses Public House from 11 February 2010

To me this is a modern bar done right and given how busy it was early on in the week I think that the public agree. To be honest it was a bit too busy for my liking but I could certainly see a lot to like in this pub.

For a start it had a warm and cosy feel to it. The tables are packed very close together…so perhaps not the place for an intimate conversation…but that adds to the cosy feel. There is a massive screen for sporting events with a lot of prime views. Thai food is available.

When I visited there did seem to be something not quite right with the ale unfortunately. The Black Sheep didn’t taste bad, it just didn’t taste like Black Sheep! Probably just a one off…a mix up downstairs of some sort. Whatever it was was perfectly drinkable.

Really pleasant pub that does cater to all. When I popped in there were Arsenal fans happily watching the game on the projector; friends enjoying a Thai meal; and couples cosying up on the couches.

Efficient and friendly service, even when crowded, but as mentioned below, drinks prices do seem a bit steep. But perhaps that's the point - this is a place you can enjoy without getting legless.

I can’t fault this place. It’s all things to all people. Not a huge place but well laid out with not too many lounge suits and a good mix of small and large tables. I particularly like the swivel chairs at the bar for when I come in here by myself.
Sort of a trendy bar, sort of has a stokey street culture feel to it (especially on the tables out the front) a quality Thai restaurant, a live music venue and the best place to watch sport anywhere around. Friendly staff and very local to me.
Would love the beer to be a bit cheaper but I guess £3.30 a pint is about standard now, and you could always load up at the spoon across the road before you come in. Very popular so can get crowded.

Review of Coach & Horses Public House from 30 July 2008

I went to this pub last night for a meal and a few drinks. I have visited a few times but really enjoyed the hustle and bustle of last night for some reason. It was moderately quiet when i arrived at 6.30pm and was greeted by an extremely pleasant barman, very quick on the mark and service with a smile thats what i like, and it wasnt just because im female, he was like it with everyone. The Thai menu they have is just great, very reasonably priced and good sized portions, throughout the evening it was continuously busy with people coming and going, the little waitress seemed to be on her feet constantly. Lets hope she earned some extra money in tips last night. Very clean also, if the staff werent serving they were cleaning!

The only small downside to this is there is no beer garden but then im only mentioning that because its summer! They do have wooden tables out at the front which is in the main Stoke Newington High Street, i quite like that, people watching is an art form and especially good if your sitting there with a nice drink while traffic and people are hurrying about all around you.

Anyway to sum up, it was an enjoyable evening and would definately recommend it for Thai and a good gossip with friends.

ALFRED0207 come to think about it, this is probally the best pub in the high street
