I really like this hairdressers, it is comfortable
and cool without being pretentious and you get a great cut/colour. I live in Brixton and if it wasn't for this place I have no idea where I would get my hair done!!!
Carlos is very good at listening to what you want and actually creating what
you asked for. I think this is a REALLY good thing but be aware that if you ask
for something that simply, fundamentally doesn't suit you, that is your fault
:-) Happened to me, Carlos did a great colour/cut... pretty much exactly as I
described it to him but it looked awful because I chose badly... Have the self-awareness
to fess-up if this happens to you. It’s your
bad not theirs - it’s not cool writing bad reviews of the place if it is
actually your fault.
The one time a toner was the wrong colour they fixed it without charge.
Only complaint about this place is that it doesn't accept debit/credit cards.
Having to go to the cash point is a hassle when rushing around between appointments
...not at Tidy Hair, all the informality and no nonsense hair cutting of a barber shop or a good old fashioned hairdresser. No 15 year old interns talking to you like your the queen and ponsing over washing your hair for 20mins, before leading you carefully in to their god - the hairdresser who faffs about for ages so you feel like you have got your monies worth with pretend to give a s*** chat... Nup not at Tidy Hair just polite but normal people cutting my normal hair... 20mins, great cut, great value!
In - cut - pay - out - happy!
Amazing - thank you Tidy Hair for keeping it real and "cutting" all the cringy faff and thus the cost... Do not change... this hard to find formula it is your valued, precious USP!

It was my first haircut since having a baby and they were very accommodating with the buggy etc.
I was very prescriptive about what I wanted, but was also looking for advice. The result was the best hair cut I have had in a long time.
When I walked in, the vintage decor and fashionable looking staff made me feel that it might be too 'cool' for a 30 something mum who barely has time to get dressed... But I was made to feel comfortable and welcome. I went for a good haircut, not a full on pampering experience and that is what I got. I really felt that I was heard and that my hairdresser made sure he gave me something he was happy with too. (eg. Checking my fringe over and over... Wet and dry).
This is my new hairdressers!
Steve was my hairdresser.

First of all, my hair is wavy/curly. What I got here was a very nice haircut that worked on wet hair (so, when my hair is straight) but it lost all it's appeal when became dry and wavy/curly again!! You would expect a hairdresser understands the difference between cutting straight and curly hair!!
Second, why I didn't notice that the haircut didn't work straight away? Because after paying £35 they leave your hair still wet! Before starting I had asked the price and she had told me it was between £35 and £40. I asked again what was the difference and she told me that £35 got you a quick blast blow dry and £40 a long one. Maybe it was my mistake, but it just didn't even cross my mind that £35 doesn't even pay for you getting your hair at least dry.
Third, the Irish woman cutting my hair had no intention to engage in any sort of conversation. But even worse, she kept badly telling me off because after a while my head was not in exactly in the same position she had placed it initially. Well, I'm not a statue and if someone pulls my hair from everywhere, it's just very difficult that my head doesn't end up slightly moving!
Forth, the woman who washed my hair kept changing the temperature of the water, ranging from quite cold to very hot. She didn't even stop to try to get it right. Even worse, she managed to shower me in one point, my T-shirt ending up all wet.
Fifth (the ice of the cake), when I arrived I left my coat on the chair as I was not offered any place to keep it. While my hair was being washed, someone else wanted to use that chair, so a man took it and put it on some hidden coat hangers they had. It's just simply bad manners them not offering me hanging my coat in the first place and then moving your stuff without asking.
I definitely won't recommend anyone going there!!

It is a shame as the one haircut i have had here was actually very good, even if the guy who cut my hair was about as sociable as a corpse. I decided to go back despite it being a generally awful experience, but given the phone call i just had I've decided to take my business elsewhere.
Customer service is key, but sadly these people have not grasped that just yet. Going by the other comments on here i'm surprised they are still open.

Today is the last time I bother.
For the 3rd time I have turned up for my appointment to be told my guy is off sick and once again, NO PHONE CALL or even the vaguest excuse of an apology.
My number is in their appointment book - I can see it right there! I check my phone, no missed calls.
Everyone gets ill, I dont have a problem with that but not letting me know so I can plan my day and NOT waste my time is unprofessional and rude.
Avoid, the haircuts might be OK - but they dont care about you.

The cut was even worse! I wanted my hair thinning to make it easier to manage, it's now thicker than ever because of all the stupid layers he's put in (which look like feathers, which I definitely did not ask for!) And he burnt my scalp numerous times, my head was in so much pain afterwards, I went outside and just wanted to cry. He doesn't talk at all, he's not friendly and for my first time, he should have been a bit more welcoming.
I wasn't greeted well by the lady, there's not enough staff and I was seen 30 minutes later than my appointment. Also first hair salon that has not offered any drinks to anyone.
They think they're really cool cos they're based in Brixton and have a quirky little shop, but to be honest, if you take the location away, you're just left with 2 people who pretend to be hair dressers, who actually seem like they're reenacting a scene from Hostel.
Some people on here have said he is really nice, well then I guess he's selective of who he is nice to, which is a REALLY bad way to run a business.
Completely over priced, never ever going back. Don't waste your time or money here.

Extremely underwhelming experience. Hair cut was fine, just a basic trim, but woman that cut my hair was inattentive and I left knowing that I would not be going back. Shame.

Small local hairdresser, realy good hair cuts, good price. Can be abit chaotic, if you are used to big efficient salons, so be relaxed when you go there. Tidy is good for vintage / retro hair styles, a speciality.
