Dear Future Leader (I assume its you). Did you not get your work for marking on time and had a bad date as a result? the timing of your review indicates so. I am sorry if your time management skills stand between you and your future country leadership. I really don’t understand your references to UK corruption and corrupt politicians. Unless you mean back home ‘where you write to’ somewhere in ‘the third world country’ . Problems with people expressing their own opinions that don’t match yours? This speaks volumes. I don’t take money for anything I write. You have a different opinion to mine. I have no problem with it.

11 reviews of The London College UCK in English
It is very sad to see Qype gives Muyiserra a platform for such slanders to take place on an institution where I presently study. Qype should not upload intimidating and grossly inaccurate reviews by any persons. Further I would not be surprise if the college in question will take legal action about Qype and for the simple reason that Qype is governed by its guidelines which admittedly fair and legal BUT not for this review which broke every known concept Qype believes in.
I happen to be a student at this college and started in Autumn 2011 and doing HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering where most likely the reviewer is presently a classmate of mine even though I do not know him personally.
In summary I wish to comment on the issues relevant to reviewer’s complaints:
1)Teachers: based on my own experience all teachers are very supporting, well qualified with UK degrees & professional qualifications. All those who taught me are Senior lectures at public sector intuitions as well as this college . some of these teachers are internationally well know as a result of their extensive research and publication activities.
2)Library: well stocked with all taught subject majors being offered at this college. Not only this, it obvious the policy here to display on the shelves multiple copies to ensure students have easy access to all reading list relevant to their studies. In addition I was able to borrow laptops, Digital camera, electronic Components for my projects and many more..
3)Engineering Laboratories: Confidently I challenge this reviewer about his pathetic comments relating to lab facilities at this college for the following reasons;
4)The Electrical & Electronic Lab where I do my experiments has every components & analogue and digital instruments needed for my lab work.
I have worked on the latest PLC and managed to write Assembly programme to control Stepping Motor, Traffic lights & many more interface circuits. The lab also quipped with Circuit design simulation software (PSPICE) . This application software will turn your laptop or desktop into the most sophisticated electronic & Electrical laboratory using simulated experiments (You can simply simulate any analogue or digital experiments that you may need to design ,assemble and test)
There are of course other Civil Engineering labs but I think I should leave this to other Engineering students to comment but to the best of my knowledge there are full Civil engineering labs including Fluid Mechanics, Soil Mechanics , Structures & Science of Materials and Concrete technology workshop. I also seen on daily basis Site Surveying students working outside the campus carrying out field practices (to add all facilities are recorded on Video and indeed published on line).
5)Student Admin & Support staff: To be very honest I found most staff are very supporting and I received good advice with personal problems I faced at the start of my course and mainly relating to my finances where the college offered me cash (under the student financial crisis scheme) to enable me to travel from home to college and also with additional pocket money for my daily expenses and even paid my 2 months rent and I’am very grateful for this support because the student finance were too slow to process and approve my application at the start of the course and I had no one to turne to . I was also given additional time to submit my assignments which was the result of various family problems.
All in all I think this review is unbalanced, intimidating and grossly Irrational and Qype must remove it immediately. There was nothing specific in this review which fall within the freedom of expressing opinion . Furthermore I think the review is Liable and amounts to gross slanders and Offensive. It is shameful that Qype would allow irrational opinion with intimidating tone for uploading without initially being screened to protect themselves. I think the college should take a legal action against Qype to protect their reputation under the laws of this country.
Finally I would be very pleased if I will be able to continue my further study at this institution on completion of my present course.

SSJohn I think you’ve hit the nail right on the head. I am also a student who is studying HND Electrical and Electronic Engineering. I handed in my final assignment on time and I’ve never had a problem with my lectures or the equipment. To state that their lecturers can’t speak proper English and yet the review from Muyiserra took some effort to read; maybe it is him that has the problem understanding English? (I think I know who he is! On that point, he is always late or absent.. Surprised he wasn’t kicked out already!)
I’m quite insulted to be honest. It’s obvious he’s not only looking to cause damage to the college’s reputation but also to insult other students like us that attend here. I won’t be surprised if he’d be repeating his year.
Politics being interlinked to the running of the college…… I’m sorry but I think he would be more suitable as a philosopher.
Muyiserra I think you need to go home and consider a career change… No point me wasiting my time talking about a waste of time.
The College is well located close to Notting Hill tube. The area is safe and quiet. Lost of nice places to eat, drink and take friends out. Best charity shop ever round the corner. It stocks top designer gear at a fraction of the price tag!
The college is small as compared to most universities. Students
are mostly undergraduate. Facilities are OK for a smaller college. The campus
had a facelift last Christmas. Re-decoration work was going on when I visited
last week.
I studied HND in Business Management and graduated this summer. My tutors were helpful and nice. I chose the college because I was not sure if going to the uni was cost-effective. I am now job hunting. If I won’t get a job by Sep, I am off to do a degree top up at uni. If I get a job by September I will differ my degree place to 2013.
There were ups and downs during my studies. Nowhere is perfect. Overall I will recommend if I you are looking for the college. If you are looking for a big uni then perhaps you should not chose the college.

I agree, it’s a lot better now to be honest.. the place has improved (modernized) a lot since I started but I guess it’s not about the way it looks but more importantly about the lecturers.
I have to say though, the Lecturers are great. They are always willing to spend extra time with me in the Library after lectures and they even replied to my many emails asking for help at ridiclious hours of the day.
I always appreciated coming here because comparing this to Uni, at uni nobody cares about you and they are just making money from quantities but here it’s pretty much about the students.. and the lecturers really do care.
Probably one of the worst colleges in London. Its selling point is the central location and slightly lower tuition fees compared to most colleges and universities. I’d rank this college on par with most fake/scam colleges in East London.
Me, being a naive international student 2 years ago, fell for their trap and ended up enrolling for a HND in Electrical and Electronics Engineering course. Let me tell you, those 2 years were painful. Now in most colleges like, Imperial College or LSC, usually allocate 8-10weeks for a module to finish, but this college gives you and the lecturer 4 weeks to do the same!! That would be fine if the college had a vast library with lot of resources and where faculty members are available most of the time to help you out. But no, we had to literally fight for our books with other students cause the college only had 2 or 3 copies of the course text books. I am sure you can find a better library in prisons! Most of the lecturers who ‘taught’ us were visiting lecturers, so after teaching a class in this college, they would jet off to teach in other colleges and universities. If you wanted to speak to the said lecturers, you must wait for your next class, which was the week after in my case, or catch them before they run off.
This college, somehow, managed to hire the worst staff members you’ll ever encounter, except a few friendly helpful staffs. Not only they are grumpy, rude and misinformed most of the time, but they even fail to point you out to the right direction.
Most of the classrooms are big, but very congested. I guess the motto of the Dean Alan was to stuff as many students in a class possible.
Anyway, I could go on forever, but at the end I didn’t learn what I paid for. I would have stayed away from this college if I had a choice, but I didn’t. So consider this college if you have no other option, and have a very low expectation.
tl;dr – the reviews are true, horrible college, joke of a library, so so faculty members, worst and useless staff members. it’s a mess of a college.
PROS:
- Central Location
- Slightly cheaper tuition fees
- Flexible college rules and policy
- Better than some prisons
- Friendly and sympathetic other victims, I mean students.
CONS:
- Everything else that matters

You do not need to giggle for too long when you realise louisck was not honest about his/her comments and in one or two years time when you have successfully completed your course and moved on to top UK university you would realise that louisck has been grossly dishonest. I ‘am in my final year HND Electrical Engineering and I had every support from both teachers and admin staff . The librray contains vast amount of textbooks to support my studies . The term is 15 week duration and NOT 4 weeks as this reviewer claimed. Best qualified teachers and I’am gratefull for all the support I had to date. It is one the best college I ever attended and would recommended to anyone who wish to work hard and climbe the ladder of success faster than in any other institutions.
Louisck you need help because you are unable to see the truth before your eyes. Without this college you could not have acheived where you are now… You have no gratitudes and no respect to those who taught you and gave certification to move on in your life. You are so blindfolded that you did not know where in London you spent the 2-year of your HND course … You didn’t even know where your college was located … Louisck your college is located College in WEST LONDON & NOT EAST LONDON … Did you really need to expose poor personal knowledge to such extent that you thought you were studying in East London…

@ previous comments: The library area could be visually a bit more modern, yes. Expecting more "being taken care of" as a student/lecturer???

I just enrolled to The London College, UCK, and now I just read about it, and I don t know anymore is this good idea or not. Are You studying there as a BA or MA student?
Like how is the building and student life?
And what about opportunity to get some after school job, as a waitress or in some kind of clubs?
Things actually seem to be changing a bit now that there’s a new principal. he’s really talkative with the students and says he’s going to make some changes. we’ll see! so far I think he has a blog and they put up a big screen in the library and some new posters and stuff around on the walls which is a start.
The place keeps growing so they must be doing something right? My graphic design lecturers are pretty enthusiastic about what they teach and we’ve done some cool projects so far this year. I’ve never had any issues with the staff personally.
Would like to see some clubs and more extracirricular activities available…
Nowhere is perfect, but I love the international atmosphere and being in Notting Hill most days of the week especially now the weather is nicer!

1) The dean is always angry, and he never helps you when you need it. The administritive staff (i.e, Library and Reception) always look moody. There used to be the girl who was very smiley and always said hello, but she went last year and generally everyone is just rude
2) the lecturers are bad they don’t even want to be there, they act like they have better things to do
3) Not eligible for PSW Visa!!!!
4) I’m finishing my 2 year HND and ebverything is always changing and people come and go and nobody ever stay because it’s a horrible place. I used to speak with people sometimes and they all say it a bad college. They find all kinds of things to make you charge money, and the women in accounts aren’t helpful when you ask why.

I studied at this college as well and have to say it is absolutely TERRIBLE!!!. I would NEVER recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy. It was a total and utter waste of money. First off, the facilities (library, teaching, rude receptionists etc) are as most people have already stated, dreadful (for the money you spend). Second, the qualification you get (I studied for a Master Diploma in Management Information Systems) is not the same as a Masters from any other university and is therefore NOT ELIGIBLE for a Post Study Work Visa (a fact the college conveniently leaves out when you apply). Finally, and this is one really takes the cake, once you do complete your course and successfully pass, the college then hits you up with a £70 charge for your certificate!!! (yet another fact they conveniently leave out when you’re applying).
So in conclusion, let me just say whatever you do, do not bother with this place and tell all your friends as well.

I think you got it all wrong … I paid £70 too BUT NOT for the certificate it was the fee the college charged for Authentication /notarising & legalisation of my certificate. When I refused to pay and I thought it was was excessive . The nice lady in the office told me that I can have the certificate for no charge and I can do the authentication & notarising and legalisation myself and I accepted her advice but she commented that it will cost me more if I do it myself… I did no not take her advice & decided to things myself… Do you know what ended to pay:
£100 for the Notary public Plus £70 for Legalisation at the FCO plus my time , Taxis, Tube , Train etc… Proved to be too expesive.. I wish I had paid the requested £70 for my certificate… Thank you Madam & I’am sorry for not taking your advice.PSW: I can only say this is UKBA fault and not the college . UKBA changes their rules almost every month & to be fair , it is not the college to blame . The qualification is at Level 7 and at National Scale it is no different than any other UK awards at level 7 . UKBA putting every barrier to exclude certain UK recognised qualifications for their own purpose..??

It is good to know that more people have experienced the same problems at this college. As a current student of the institution, I am quite disappointed by the service offered to the students.
As it was mentioned on one of the previous review, you need, indeed, to attend this module called "individual study" which is just pointless. Basically you can do whatever you want as long as you stay in the building. According to them, that's a good opportunity for you to work on your assignments making use of all the (few) resources available in the (laughable) library. Also, in order to complete your timetable, they often include repeated modules in different terms. Even though I had not failed a module called "vocational skills", they said it was necessary to do it again due to its apparently importance, and to be honest, that's just a waste of time.
Having chosen to join a master with working placement as part of the course, I surprisingly found out recently about this extra £ 1,550.00 that the college charge you. At any time this information were given to me and I spoke to them twice before my enrolment, so they had the opportunity to clarify everything, but they didn't. I was shocked when I heard about it cause I thought that my course fees were already fully paid. That's the most unbelievable thing ever!
On top of that, when studying over there you must be ready to deal with a grumpy receptionist and staff that are not always keen to help you.
Well, the location of the institution is good though...

i don’t know who wrote the below review, maybe it was someone who works at the college, but it’s a terrible place to study. At least the rude receptionist isn’t there this term, the other girls are nice and will always help you out when you need it

I believe in freedom of expression. I had a good experience and want to share it with others if you had a bad experience I respect it. People are different. I came to my course as a mature student, completing my course at the college allowed me to progress to degree, which I did not think was ever possible. I did not expect Oxford standard when I registered at the college. As a college they are OK. If you were expecting the college to be a uni as you keep going on your previous studies at the uni then perhaps you should have carried on your studies at the previous uni or a new one. Just a thought.
