Colin and his team recently sorted me an extensive damp problem, they took the plaster off several walls of my front room, we are living here so the dust and the potential mess was a big worry, but it needn't be as they covered everything with plastic sheets and floor with thick plastic sheeting, we needed a cleaner for just a couple of hours after the works the mess was kept to a minimum, the painter commented that the plastering was to a very high standard and requires little to no preparation.

Colin mentioned this website to me and some of the feedback and that he thought it was fake, well I just can't believe the comments on here they just can't be for the same person and team that did the work for me, his men are the most professional and polite builders I have ever had work for me, they turned up on time every day and tried there best to keep the mess to a minimum which they did, Colin himself is a very friendly person and comes across that he really does care about the work and that he wants to do a good job, I think I am a good judge of character and unless the guy is a very good conman he is the real mcoy I would recommend to him to anybody, family, friends etc the guy is reliable and sure he is honest and is most defiantly trustworthy and his price wasn't the cheapest but i'm glad I went with him, I can assure anybody reading this that the Colin Barker who did the job for me me can't be the same person that these reviews mention, they simply can't be!!

Just to mention, we checked with 2 of his last jobs he had carried in London and they couldn't speak highly enough about Colin and him team, I wouldn't risk anybody else! thanks Maria M

Colin recently did a large job in my flat where he damproofed a section of wall and tanked the coal cellar under the stairs. I came on to this site to leave a glowing review and cannot believe what I am reading! Colin and his men are the most courteous, communicative and efficient people I have ever had a job with! I had to move the start date twice because my baby was ill - which involved calling Colin at home on Easter Day as well as a previous weekend. He answered his phone immediately both times and moved the start date straight away and without quibble - despite this significantly inconveniencing himself and his men. His only concern was the welfare of my child. When the work was being done, he and his workers were clean and quiet and left the flat exactly as he found it. On top of all this, he is a lovely man and really pleasant to deal with. I have heard of companies signing up on websites like this to bad mouth the competition. This may or may not be the case here but I would like any future potential customers of Colin's to know that he is an excellent worker, completely reliable and I would strongly recommend him for any dampproofing work.

Colin was the cheapest quote I got but his work was awful. He came over as a nice man but when he finished the place was a mess. The plaster he put up started getting damp again after a few days and now its cracking and moves when you push it. A lump of it fell off the other day! I thought I could trust him to do a good job but I was wrong. I treid calling him but he never answers his phone and I can't afford to get someone else to finish it. I don't know what to do now, I'm left living in a house with damp and my health is suffering. People like him shouldn't be allowed to get away with this kind of thing.

One again haven’t got a clue who this person is, only complaint I ever get is over dust never had a “GENUINE” complaint about the quality of my work, don’t know who this is but if you are not happy with the standard of the work carried out by my team please contact me ASAP and I’ll call back and remedy the problem, I always answer my phone where possible it doesn’t always work in basements so sometimes I can’t be reached, but if this is a genuine review I am extremely concerned about it and promise whoever it is that I will return and rectify the problem, but doubt that it is,
DON’T KNOW WHO THIS IS, ITS PROBABLY THE JACKSON PERSON WITH A BOGUS EMAIL ADDRESS, DON’T WHO THAT IS EITHER, U CAN CONTACT ME ANYTIME I ALWAYS ANSWER MY PHONE, TOTALLY BOGUS REVIEWS, I CAN PROVIDE REFERENCES SEVERAL

If only the problem was a bit of dust! I gave up trying to contact Colin after two months of getting the runaround and then no answer for the last few weeks. I’ve already had a lot of promises but they never amounted to much. And I don’t take kindly to being called a liar, just because you don’t like what I’ve got to say doesn’t mean I’m not a genuine customer with a genuine complaint!

They did a good job and were polite, reliable and efficient.

They also left the area neat and tidy (unlike many tradespeople I've worked with previously!)

I had a few damp patches on various walls of my property in west London, I hired Colin to do the works his quote wasn't the cheapest but he had been recommended by a reputable builder who has carried out several jobs for us all to a very good standard, Colin doesn't actually do the work now he has back problems and he really does have a problem with his right knee, he bent over during the survey and struggled to get back up.

The guys who turned up did a great job and talked me through exactly what they were going to do and carried out the job to a very high standard, they even mopped my floor and cleaned everything up, I can only comment on how I found Colin, he his very friendly and profesional and the job was done to a very good standard and I received the guarantee 2 weeks after the job was finished, I would recommend Colin and his team highly

It seems someone had my last review deleted so I'll say it again: AVOID COLIN BARKER AT ALL COSTS. If I could give this man no stars I would. When he first came round to give me a quote he appeared to be very friendly and knowledgeable but he did a total botch job on the work I got him to do. He destroyed brickwork, some of his plastering failed after a few months and there's damp still showing on another wall.

He also avoided my calls when I tried to ring him up and get it fixed. I had to use different phones just to get him to answer! When he did, all I got was excuses and tales of how he had "hurt his knee" and "he had to go to hospital". Of course the guarantee he promised never materialised either. If you do decide to employ him then please please make sure you get his full contact details and get guarantees and receipts for everything BEFORE you pay him.

He commented on my last review saying that he was angry that people can write reviews like this. Well I'm angry that people like him continue to rip homeowners off with shoddy work and false promises. It's now going to cost me double to get this work done properly. Satisfaction guaranteed? I don't think so!

I hired Colin to do some skimming work on a small 1 bed flat I am renovating in West London. He and his guys did such a good job, that I also used Colin to do some damp proofing work in another flat in London. Both jobs were top class. I found Colin to be reliable, professional and always on time. His Northern 'nothing is too much trouble' attitude is refreshing, especially in London! Thanks Colin, great job(s) and I will definitely use you again.
