I agree thoroughly with you however after speaking to one of the staff who work there I was informed that they are told by the manager/owner to remove every item of food/drink on the tables that are not purchased in the establishment. I asked why and the young lady replied that they get into a huge amount of trouble if they don’t. No wonder they are all miserable if they are getting into trouble over someone having a bottle of water on the table!

If I could give a review of zero I would.
The three times I have been in that place I have seen members of staff crying. It is hardly the atmosphere you want to take your children into. You cannot fault the young girls and lads that work there but the lack of organisation from the ‘management’ is appauling!
It is overpriced, overcrowded and in some places filthy. The male toilets in particular are disgusting. They let in far too many people meaning it is cramped and very messy.
At one point I saw faeces, urine and vomit in the climbing frame and in the end had to report it to the ‘so-called’ manager. She was very dismissive and advised me that one of the girls would clean it up.
Those poor girls are rushed off their feet. They are serving at the till one minute then cleaning the toilets the next. The hygiene in there is also very questionable. The same person who cleans up the ‘little accidents’ also brings out your meal from the kitchen. I’ve also noticed that nobody wears an apron!
The only good point about that place apart from the nice girls that work in there is the food. You can’t fault the food in there. Its a bit expensive but very tasty and of very good quality.
All in all not a very nice place to go and I would rather spend my money elsewhere.

Very rude and unprofessional staff, while the facilities are not so bad certain staff members in particular are very unfriendly not only towards parents but also children! You are not even allowed to take your own water or specific fruit juice if they do not sell it, if you are seen doing so expect a rude and unprofessional response from staff.
The food is expensive and overpriced and overated, my work colleague had a similar experience and stopped taking her children there, and if there was somewhere else nearby we would go there.
Don’t ruin your party, book somewhere else.

Best ever play area. Very airy, bright and colourful and my 3 children loved play the frame and football areas. The staff were friendly and approachable from the Reception area to the Restaurant.Food is excellent though pricey however my children did not leave anything on their plates!!!Can get very busy at times with parties and sheer number of people.Thoroughly recommend this play area!!!

dont agree with bad reviews!
Have been to yellow sub quite a few times and always found it to be clean and well run.
we had our daughters birthday party there and cannot fault it at all.
It can be expensive than some other play centres but I think the food is so much better than other centres we’ve been to. They served more than enough party food which the kids loved, the party assistant also boxed up the untouched food for us to bring home!
we weren’t in any way rushed and the kids were given time to finish each course before the cake was brought out. Also we didn’t feel as though we were being pushed out the door once the party was over.
Excellent party bags too! Also get a ticket for free entry for 2 children.
Recommend 100%

Totally disagree with the other reviewers; this place is brilliant! We’ve just visited for the first time and both of my children absolutely loved it! The staff were friendly, helpful and efficient. The food was by far the best I’ve ever had at a soft play centre. And the play area itself was fantastic; clean, colourful and with so much to explore! We’ll definitely be back!!!

We took our daughter to a party at the Yellow submarine. My husband and I were shocked by the lack of security on the doors after visiting other indoor play establishments. The children could have easily walked in and out without being questioned by an adult. The organisation was poor and no loud speaker announcement informing the children that their party was now eating. Once the children were sat down to their party food the hostess instantly brought the birthday cake so no time to eat before singing Happy Birthday. The party plates were taken away from the children quickly and the hostess stood guard on the door virtually blocking the exit telling the children to put their shoes on so they could not play for the extra time they had left. We ordered 3 coffees from the expensive cafe, as there were no tables vacant we were standing and couldn’t give a table number. We informed the member of staff were we would be and she placed them on a table. When we questioned the cafe staff to the whereabouts of the coffees she showed us where she had put them by which time they were cold and then replaced them. Not somewhere I would recommend or visit again.

Took our Autistic son there and were treated appallingly. We bought a breakfast each (4 adults) and fed our son a mini roll and fruit shoot that we had brought with us. we were then approached by staff and told he could not eat it if it was not bought on site. I explained that he had autism and it was the only drink he would have and they did not sell that brand and was met by a wall of sheer ignorance. Her answer was that he should play for 90 mins without hydration and that this was company policy. I asked to speak to a manager and was told that there was hardly ever and management in site! I continued to explain why he needed a drink and her attitude was horrendous. We immediatly left and i have emailed the yellow sub for an explanation. My advice is simple...If you have a child with a disability...go somewhere else!!!

Yellow sub on a quiet morning during the week is an excellent place to take little ones, with usually extra toys out or arts and crafts. The food is good although a bit on the pricey side.
Play area is good and a decent section for little ones and a couple of cars for toddlers.
The staff are not overly helpful at the food counter and often the food takes a while, whatever time of day you are there. They are not keen on giving tap water at parties or helping when young babies need things warmed up. I have been to many parties there, where you are ushered out as soon as the party is over with the shoes handed to you.
The cost for 90 mins play in busy times is too much.

Having frequented the yellow sub for the past five years most weeks, with my daughter and also introducing to friends some whom travel from the Wirral, I am appauled at the treatment that my 30 children guests, their parents and in some cases grandparents and myself have just received at my daughter and nephews joint birthday party. Having been given a full price for the children in May i was then to discover on final payment of the balance with a week to go that there was a further £36 to pay in addition to the £330 we had been quoted. This money is in addition to the money spent by the adults attending in the cafe on hot food and drinks which is by no means cheap!!!! After a period of play the children were seated for the party food, the hot food was cold and no sooner had they sat down the deserts were served. neither my sister or myself were asked if the children were ready for their deserts and consequently some of the children then did not wish to eat their main food. Other children who wished to continue eating the main buffet available were prevented from doing so as their plates were removed from them in some cases as the child was eating from the plates. The children were then told moments later to get their shoes on and leave the party room. After confronting the young women seemingly in charge the atmosphere became increasingly hostile and embarrassing and i was very aware that my guests had noticed this. I have full intentions to take this matter further as in consideration of the amount of money spent and the expectation of such an enjoyable event very much looked forward to my sister and i are left upset and extremely disappointed and would advise those who are considering a celebration at yellow sub to THINK AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nothing short of daylight robbery! Party was booked...then they double booked, and moved the time, and last minute demanded extra £1.25 per head. All the kids shoes were dumped into one big bucket, Kids were made to eat after exactly an hour. Ice cream was served whilst kids still eating sandwiches, and after 30 mins eating, we were all told to leave. All staff encountered had an extremely bad attitude. AVOID!

Take my son there and he loves it (4) took him last week and he felt sick after a few mins, had to take him home , the young girl on reception gave me my money back and was very nice to Joey, wether she used her own initiative or it is company policy doesnt matter it is rare to get this sort of treatment well done to the Yellow submarine and all the staff John O`brien

Wasn’t over the top about this place. Obviously its great for the little ones, however from a parents perspective, Hard wood flooring, easy access for the toddlers into the cleaning room at the back and some climbing frames that are just too hard for some kids to climb lessen my vote for this place. Much prefer Timeout on Heysham road. Manic, but much more enjoyable. A wider range of things for the kids to play on. Plus, the food is a lot more normal…

Yellow sub is ok, i have been to better indoor play areas, its always so crowded but my kids do love it so thats all that matters.
The place does seem fairly safe and there are always staff looking on to keep an eye on boisterous children. However you really should try and keep an eye on your own child. The yellow sub also caters for parties and they are well planned even if they are a tab bit expensive.
