wow! My bf is really keen to do some kayaking…not sure if Ipswich is a bit far but if he’s that good. Also sounds like a really safe environment too!

The beginners kayaking course at the weekend was brilliant. Lots of instruction, lots of assistance and great fun. Ian and Zoe did a great job. Has it inspired us to improve our skills? Definitely!

Having decided to take on a significant kayaking challenge for charity, I found Ian (Paddlecraft) online and gave him a call to arrange some rolling/self-rescue one on one training as I'd be doing the challenge solo.
Aside from being polite, flexible and helpful in advice and arranging slots, Ian's coaching has been quality.
After 2 x 1hr sessions (1 in pool and 1 in flat water), I am feeling measurably more confident about getting out on the water solo.
In fact, I've been so impressed with Ian's coaching, and the comfort that it is giving me to get into the sport, that I am arranging more time with him; both before and after my challenge.
Happy to recommend, even happy for you to ask Ian for my details to give a personal recommendation.

Just had a two hour kayak introductory rolling session together with my wife and daughter in the swimming pool in Ian's garden and it was brilliant. Perfect environment to learn in and Ian is an exceptional teacher - patient, knowledgeable and empathetic. He immediately instills confidence and ensures that you work at a pace which ensures optimal learning. We will definitely be returning for more instruction. Nick

Have just completed 2 sessions with Ian and have to say they were brilliant! I have health issues and decided to try Kayaking as a way of improving my health. I could not of asked for a better tutor than Ian. Patient, understanding and helpful in every way. Explained everything beforehand and as we went along. Felt safe at all times whilst having fun.
A great introduction to Kayaking which was both informative and fun. I now intend to take up kayaking after getting so much from the course. Thank you very much Ian.

My adult son and I attended a beginners course in Kayaking on 4th & 5th of August (at Dedham). The selection of Paddlecraft as our host and tutor was entirely a random choice as neither of us had any prior experience or personal recommendation to fall back upon but what a good choice it was. Ian was great, the whole experience was very enjoyable and we learned a lot of stuff too!

My wife and I did a Sea Kayak weekend course with Ian late last year, and can only endorse all the positive comments in other reviews.
A really professional, positive and above all, frinedly course which guided us superbly through all the basic and into the more intermediate aspects of kayaking.
Hopefully we can sign up for a coastal trip in the coming months to broarden our knowledge.

Ian takes out the mystery of kayaking and brings out the magic. Supplies the full range of the necessary equipment, well-matched for size and thoughtfully and patiently explains even the most mundane of questions about its use.
The program on both of the Paddlecraft courses I have done ( Kayak Beginner and the Introduction to Sea Kayaking) featured clear explanations and thoughtful progression through all the necessary skills.
Thoroughly recommended.

Thanks so much for an excellent Kayak Safety Rescue Course on the 8th October. The theory was very interactive and very valuable. The practical was once again really good. I have learnt so much (once again). Ian is absolutely fantastic with his incredible patience. I would trust him in every decision he makes….even in his faith in what we can and cannot do. I have just completed the ‘kayak beginner course’, and attended a one to one training session with Ian. Ian’s laid back and patient approach makes the training all the more enjoyable, and the beginners course in particular was a great way of getting to know the basics, and give you the confidence to push yourself a little further. I can even paddle in a straight line now!!! Highly recommended.

Thank you for Ian and Clive for the FSRT Course on the 8th Oct. I really enjoyed the day and learned a lot.
Ian is a talented instructor with a great deal of experience and is a very able teacher. He made the lessons interesting and enjoyable. I particularly appreciated the extra detail and clarity on any questions we had for him. The practical part was also the same with plenty equipment available for those that may not have everything!
The location and facilities were ideal for this event.

A big thank you Ian for a great one day ‘safety and rescue’ training course. Despite paddling for a number of years I was surprised how much more there was to learn !. From the classroom session in the morning, to the time on the water in the afternoon, the day was great fun, well organised and thouroughly enjoyable.
If your considering taking up paddling, or want to improve your skills, I would strongly recommed you contact Ian for his expert advice, guidance and training.

Attended the Introduction to Sea Kayaking 13/14th Aug 2011. I found Ian to be a very experianced instructor and I was instantly aware that I was in expert and safe hands. And he makes the whole experience fun too.
Excellent value for money for a 2 day course – I thought.
Hope to do meet up with again for an excursion in the near future.

I have completed both river kayak, estuary and sea kayak training/trips plus theoretical/practical rescue-safety training courses with Ian. He is a highly competent trainer with a confidence-building, relaxed and fun approach.
He will push you a bit when he feels you are ready or rein in your enthusiam if he thinks you may be over-stretching yourself, I appreciate his honesty about my abilities! He also has good equipment to hire. I have no doubts about reccomending him, thankyou!

We have done a couple of courses now with Ian and would not hesitate to recommend him as a first class kayaking instructor. He manages to combine instruction and fun into enjoyable days out. He gave us the confidence to hire kayaks on our own and the information we needed to plan our own trips. Brilliant!
