My wife and I had lunch on Saturday 17th March and both the service and quality of food was exceptional. This place is an absolute gem, authentic tapas and best taps restaurant I have been to outside of Spain. Portion sizes are superb and the waiters are extremely helpful.

I’ll be back

this has got to be the best Tapas place in Brighton, we LOVE IT!!

Always welcoming, always make room for us even when busy – though I would recommend booking as it gets very busy & is small

never had a less than excellent meal here & we go often

its so good I almost don’t want to recommend it, just incase we can’t get a seat next time

If you are after some quality and quick food then there is no where better. They have a fantastic selection of tapas, meat, fish, and vegetable. To top it off the service is excellent with the staff being happy quick and attentive. I recommend this place to all of my friends!!

Do try the chorizo Don Carlos, a bit of a spectacle but thoroughly delicious!

I have been here a few times - from a few years ago to the other week - and this has never failed to impress. The prices are reasonable and the range of dishes very good. Somehow it feels very authentic - certainly not another corporate or mediocre chain.

Enjoyed a fine meal here this weekend. We noticed the clientele were mostly Spanish & the food was certainly the reason they came!!! The eggs with chorizo was excellent. Friendly staff, great location. Recommended.

What i like about your reviews (and i do read a lot of them) is that they focus on the important stuff and forgive my language not the Glittzy bolloxs that seemingly is so important to many. The food, what's on your plate, that's what interests me.

    Regards.

Fantastic food, good service, reasonable prices. Consistently good for the 10 years I've been going there (including last week). The lamb and rabbit tapas dishes are both delicious, well flavoured and tender.

Casa don Carlos is a good Tapas restaurant. We always enjoy ourselves and the food is consistently great. The service is attentive and very friendly. It is a great place to go and is perfectly situated in the lovely Brighton lanes

This place is a Brighton standard for the after-work do. So gets busy with groups, if you are there as a couple you might find the atmosphere not quite right.

My complaints with this place are really complaints at Tapas culture in general.

The little plate idea ties in well with long Mediterranean nights as an accompaniment to your wine/beer. It was never meant to be the main event. Elevating it to the focus of the evening is like spending ninety minutes watching cheerleaders and watching the teams play at half-time.

Even if you are a big fan of the little-plate then the quality here isn’t really up to it. I think they have great big tupperwares full of economy slop out the back and the microwave gets heavy usage.

Really good service & big portions. The restaurant was fully booked on a Wednesday night, turning people away. The food was great & I can imagine that it'd be a perfect place to bring a party.

Dined here tonight in a group of 12. was delicious food and great value-the portions are large and the house wine is less than £13 a bottle. The waiting staff are attentive and knowledgeable. Would recommend

I have spent quite a bit of time in Spain over the years and have always enjoyed tapas, albeit often free when ordering a beer.

Given all the glowing reviews, we were excited at the prospect of eating here.

However, walking out of the restaurant, I was left decidely underwhelmed. I really must be missing something about this place that everyone else gets except me.

I thought the food was average at best and the tables really are crammed in almost on top of one another. Having said that, the atmosphere was lively and enjoyable.

The tapas, the reason you are there, were small and not very tasty. Some of them even looked suspiciously like they came out of a freezer bag and were just dropped in hot oil.

My absolute favourite at any tapas place worth its salt, boquerones fritos, were very disappointing. In fact, I was not keen on any of the fish tapas we ordered.

Maybe we were just unlucky, but I won't be back in a hurry. I can only think the popularity of this place is based on the fact that most of the other tapas places in Brighton are even worse (La Tasca anyone? - um, no thanks!).

The food also repeated badly on all of us all night. If it were in Spain, this place would be just another average eatery.

I would have given 2 stars based on the food, but the atmosphere merits 3. I guess you have to factor in the overall experience in places like this.

Without a doubt Casa Don Carlos is one of Brighton’s best Tapas places. I’ve been here on numerous occasions, on friends’ birthdays and with family and it’s never disappointed. As it’s quite popular you’ll need to book but do so in the knowledge that you’re guaranteed a good atmosphere and wonderful food. All the dishes are cooked to perfection with all the sauces balanced with the kind of precision you’d expect from somewhere charging a lot more money. Definitely worth it!

Have eaten here three times and it is by far the best tapas in Brighton. The slow cooked lamb is awesome.
