Love Le Delice The place runs well now, which is why we go there for food almost every week. Healthier than junk food or supermarket pre-prepared rubbish. The meals are fresh, delicious and there's always a good variety or your favourites. The owner is lovely and staff are now finding their feet - polite and friendly. Manageress is great. It's great value, nice atmosphere which the area really needed. It's open til late which is handy, so we're now regular loyal customers. I hope it goes from strength to strength and keeps up the great standard.

The first time I went I really enjoyed but I have been back a few times and the experience has got worse for food and staff of aubergine. The pancakes are not light and fluffy but more like cardboard. The softboiled eggs were not delivered in an egg holder so I not sure how they expected people to eat them as it was way too hot and when I did manage to get in they were almost solid. The staff! I have not had one order that was 100% correct and when I have asked them for a missing item they either brought something else wrong or were just really rude. I don't want to go back as I find myself getting more annoyed each time.

Excuse me, but I cannot agree with you at all. I am in Le Delice quite often and always enjoying their food – especially veg.tagine with prunes and almonds which is unbelievably tasty or their salmon with mash potatoes touched with mustard, chicken breast with mushroom and tomato sauce, their poached eggs are amazing (didn’t try the eggs you had), my boyfriend loves their chicken grill and beef burger (which is home made). I tried pancake too (my favorite is with Nutella & pineapple) and it tasted very good – they are doing French style of pancakes and not the American fluffy style. And the staff is always very friendly. Perhaps your orders are not clear enough and that’s why are you getting something else than you expect? I don’t know, but my experience is miles far away from your one.

Went for the first time this morning, for breakfast. The menu looks appealing with some unusual stuff (breakfast tagine, anyone?) though on this occasion we both had a full english. At 4.50 for 2 eggs, bacon, soss, beans, mushrooms, tomatoes and a hash brown this was excellent value and decent quality (bog-standard cheap cafe sausage mind you - but who expects anything else?)

The toast was nicely cooked in a griddle toaster, the juice was freshly squeezed, the tea and iced coffee was fine.

For breakfast this place works out a bit more expensive than the Copperfield on the High Street, but its a nice environment and the food is generally better.

The place was not busy when we arrived but looked like it was filling up later. The sunday roast looked pretty good. I saw no signs of the rudeness or surliness that other reviewers complain about.

We will certainly go again, and try some of the day time food.

Review of Le Delice from 26 March 2012

The first time I went to the Delice, not long after it had opened, I was treated to a delicious tagine, service was warm and welcoming, the place was fairly quiet.

Today, Sunday morning, I went to Delice with a friend. It was busy, and the staff looked pretty stressed out. The guy who appeared to be managing was curt and unfriendly, charging more for the dish than was advertised on the menu board and then flatly stating, “oh, that’s not if you’re eating in”.

We’d both ordered the falafel – a light snack – what seemed like a bargain at £4.00 and took the only available table, where we sat waiting for the previous diners’ food to be cleared for about ten minutes.

The food arrived. Two small discs of falafel that’d been halved, a scattering of a rather tired-looking salad, and a small tower of couscous in the middle. My friend immediately sent it back, asked for her money, and we left.

Shortly after leaving, I found I’d been short-changed. Only by 40p, but enough to leave a thoroughly nasty taste in the mouth.

A real shame. I’d hesitate to go back.

I’m sorry I hate to rubbish any new business esp’ a local independent but I could not disagree more with the reviews here. perhaps the 3 times I have been have been off days. I found my sandwich lacked any effort it was no better than the cheapest plastic boxed plain white bread sandwich you can get from a well known supermarket, only twice the price, & the dessert tasted like old thick custard on a flan base. and I didn’t find the staff as friendly as reviews suggest. 3 times unlucky ?? Even my father inlaw had to return stale carrot cake when visiting and was offerd an exchange not handy when trying to catch a train. He was eventually given a refund.

I personaly think there are much much better places in E17

My advice to Delice MUST DO BETTER

I am surprised by your comments. The cafe is always clean and as to the smell. I have never smelt anything there. Due to the popularity at lunchtimes. Sometimes the staff can get busy. But always have a smile. I suggest that you take up your issues with the very friendly owner.

This part of walthamstow . Away from The Village has been crying out for a decent cafe/restaurant for quite sometime. Finally one has arrived. With food all freshly made on the premises. Apart from delicious Movenpick Ice cream!

The interior is bright and fresh looking with lamps hanging down above each table. You can choose to sit by the large bright glass window or further into the cafe where the light is more subdued..Really well planned with comfy seating and benches and cusions

I enjoyed a lovely cup of excellent hot chocolate and yummy carrot cake. The staff were really pleasant and welcoming. The owner is very approachable and willing to listen to customers suggestions:) I will definitely be going again:) Si

Its Nov and Le Delice is quietly establishing itself as the place to eat in Walthamstow…The staff are lovely and welcoming and steered effortlessly by the owner..Who is hands on too..I love it there and the hot choc is to die for!

Le Delice is a newly opened cafe on the corner of Hoe Street. Where Copycats used to be.
The food is DELICIOUS.
The staff are helpful and friendly. The cafe is kept clean and the toilets are spotless. The staff seem to take pride in their work. It is a real gem of a place and I look forward to bringing friends and family here for years to come.

LeDelice sells North African-style food, in an informal and friendly atmosphere.

I popped in for a quiet Sunday afternoon lunch (a non-Sunday lunch lunch!). I had the special - Halloumi with grilled vegetables. It cost £4.50 and came with Moroccan tea.

The food was absolutely delicious. Very fresh, tasty and well prepared - possibly the best value food I have had in London for years. Tea was a nice touch and made with fresh mint in a traditional copper tea pot. Lovely.

The only slight negative is that the ordering and paying (at the counter) is slightly confusing. (Hint: put up a sign!) But, apart from that the service was very warm and friendly.

Go!

Have just come back from a second visit to Le Delice and I must say that I love this place. It's bright, airy with loads of seating - a mix of tables/chairs and comfy sofas - with a good supply of papers and magazines to keep you occupied.

Yes, it's counter service and there can be queues when it gets really busy - but bear with them, the food is worth it. Today I had falafels, cous cous, homous and salad and it was absolutely delicious.

They do a fantastic range of sandwiches, wraps, baguettes and salads - but I think their daily 'specials' are the real star turn. They also do great fresh juices and smoothies, so it's easy to eat healthily with not much trouble.

Fantastic cafe that has taken over the large corner plot on hoe Stree/Jewel Road that used to be Copycats.

The owner and staff are extremely friendly and relaxed, which makes it a great place to meet with a group of friends coming and going at different times.

Their freshly made sandwiches are great - and try having them in their homemade pancake/wraps rather than bread - these are especially yummy.

They have a complete freezer full of Movenpick ice creams, make 'candy' milkshakes (Mars Bar milkshake anyone?) and their cakes are extremely scrummy.

oh yes - and they make a bloomin' good cup of coffee!

Incredibly friendly cafe in bright, airy setting on corner on Hoe Street. For what seemed like years, the front was shrouded in paper - and opening it seemed to take forever. But, it was worth the wait.

Incredibly friendly staff, really good baguettes and paninis, lovely salads and great value main specials. The ice creams are excellent too - as are the hot chocolates.

The only downside - the cakes are a tiny bit sugary and bland IMHO (they look fantastic) - meaning that on coffee and cake Le Delice is slightly edged out by L'Hirondelle just down the road. But on ambience, atmosphere and main food - Le Delice is putting the awesome in #awesomestow (ahem). And frankly, between The Rose & Crown, here, L'Hirondelle, the farmers' market etc. then it's clear that this bit of Walthamstow is finally blooming.

Great little cafe which has just opened up on Hoe Street, surprisingly spacious inside and a good selection of freshly made sandwiches, cakes, crepes and an ice cream counter.
