hate to say this…..but whoever wrote this review sounds like they actually work for GF salon as they are coming from the perspective of the hairdresser not someone who would just write a review. A lot of businesses do this when they have had a bad review in order to try and redeem themselves….not sure i want to go there now???

Many Thanks,
N
I just would like to clarify that I’ve read the reviews before I brought my voucher, as it was great deal for a cut and colour and keratin treatment I did pay a extra £10.00 which is standard as I have extra long hair and I wanted the best results
Before I’ve paid nearly £400.00 for the same treatments and I must say I was very impressed because of the reviews were not great but the service I received most excellent I really don’t understand what all the fuss was about to pay a extra £5.00 or £10.00 to have this kind of treatment
I will defiantly go back again as I really enjoyed myself and most of all my hair looks great.

I emailed the voucher to them (twice, including on the day of my appt) as instructed on the voucher, but they seemed incapable of finding it and again asked me to retrieve it from my email on my phone which the receptionist took to the front desk and starting faffing around with.
My stylist was running almost 1 hour late and there was no word of an apology for this. The stylists who took turns in washing, applying the treatment and cutting my hair were reasonable. The piece de resistance was the card machine "not working" and the receptionist putting the transaction through on the phone with some other random salon/company. She eventually managed to communicate my card details to whoever was on the other end of the phone (after screwing it up twice and telling me that the problem was with my card). Beyond annoying.

I had purchased a deal for a Brazilian Keratin treatment, which I was having for the first time ever. From the way this salon sells itself as a place for pampering and relaxation, I was surprised to find myself in the McDonald's of hair salons, designed for quick touch-and-go, high turn-overs. The staff were friendly enough upon my arrival, offering me a drink, but then it all turned sour. The stylist told me that I would have to pay £10 extra if it was found that I needed extra treatment. I have two hairs and a half on my head, so I was certain I wouldn't need it. But lo and behold, I did! However, I was soon to discover this was all a big hoax as while my treatment was setting in, another client with thicker, longer hair came in and was sat next to me. She was sold the £10 'extra' thing too, but she immediately caught them out and said she'd had Keratine treatment before and she was certain she didn't need anything 'extra'. Clever woman, unlike me. I'm not the confrontational type, so I let it be. At the end, they told me that I needed to use special parabin-free products and sold me their own line products for £50!!! Like an idiot, I took them, only to find out later that I could have purchased them from any Boots for significantly less than half the price! I know I sound like I only have a single brain cell, but as someone who had never had this Kertain treatment before, I had no idea how things worked and I just went with what I was told. I'd like to think I am now wiser.
It gets worse, though: a week or so ago, I went to a proper salon for a hair-cut and the hairdresser was appalled by my hair cut, although only 3 months had passed since my visit to the hellish gf salons. The layering was all wrong and the hair cut was among the messiest she'd ever seen.
Avoid this salon at all costs. They're just going to smile at you while they rip you off.

As mentioned earlier there is a lot of whispering between staff and the whole issue of them using more Keratin and charging is a complete con. For such an 'expensive' product, one assistant I had, rubbish too, spilt most of it on me and herself in order to use more!
They used one ounce more which was £10 and tried to tell me it had been 3 so £30. This miraculously went down to 2 ounces, then they confirmed the 1 so £10, just like that when the boss had seen the other customers looking at my objections.
This is after a brilliant lady spent a lot of time straightening my afro hair!
The stylist who had started applying the cream (I had 3) refused to come over and clarify how much she had used and suddenly couldn't hear! The salon is about 30ft!!!! Its tiny!
In all honesty though I do feel sorry for the staff. Their actions suggest they are paid via commission only.
I left a parting note with the lady who accompanied me to the cash point (yes really!) to get the extra £10, that they would have got more from me if they hadn't have been so obviously sales focused. The dishonesty of the whole operation meant the 1 decent member of staff missed out as I was so unhappy with the whole environment.
In case they read this which I hope they do, this one decent lady had short dark wavy hair herself. The Australian girl would have had a thumbs up too but I was shocked to see her true colors over the whole extra Keratin fiasco. Might I add that she seemed like the only actual stylist and the rest more like sleazy random call center staff who either spent all of their time in the mirror, whispering amongst each other, or all collectively standing around one tiny reception desk trying to look like they were doing something???....
I will not be going back. For any other people with afro hair, the service is not adequate and the stylist had no idea how to even wash or brush my hair. I understand it is a European hairdressers but their services should be advertised accordingly.
For anyone else, this is a sales environment not a hairdressers! I guess the service may be okay (sorry I have nothing to compare it too) but having done an internet search, the products and method they used can be done at home.....
They could not charge £200+ for this service which they claim too... £70, discounted or not is still a joke!

ETA – I would like to clarify that I’m in no way doing this to be spiteful. There is an inherent risk in chemical treatments and mistakes happen. That’s unavoidable, what concerns me is the owners lack of concern and contact regarding my reasonable and calm contact to try and find a resolution to the situation.
Unfortunately I’ve had to edit my rating from 5 stars to 1.
After my last visit where I was very happy I returned to get the same treatments. Through no fault of the staff I was left waiting for about an hour whilst the owner put keys in a taxi so they could open the salon.
I believe that the delay in opening led to a situation where they were running behind schedule and juggling too many different things. My hair usually takes a long time but I was at the salon for almost 5 hours, with the cut only taking about 10 minutes. To be fair on the staff, who were without fault lovely, they were put in a very difficult situation. The gentleman who did my colour was at great pains to ensure the roots were as close to the scalp as possible.
My hair has been dreadfully damaged but the full extent of the damage did not become apparent until after the first wash when I had returned to Switzerland. The ends look like they have been burnt and my hair is breaking at all points after previously being very strong. I have had another cut in an attempt to remove the damaged ends but the next day the splits/breakages were again in evidence.
I have contacted the salon three times via email and tried to call on about 20 different occasions to allow them time to offer a solution. On the one occasion the phone was answered I spoke with the owner who assured me he would call me right back. That was 5 days ago and I have heard nothing.
The fact that my hair, which is, as the GF website explains ’ the gown you never take off – should look good 365 days a year, not just on the day you visit the salon!’ is irreparably damaged is one thing. The fact that there has been no response to any of my attempts to speak with them means that I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere for a haircut.
I also got the groupon deal for the keratin treatment and cut, they also provided a discount for a colour.
Charlotte was really lovely and very patient with me, she took a lot of time to ask questions about how I wanted my cut and colour and explain the details of the Keratin treatment. I have extremely thick hair to bra level and had to pay extra for the keratin however having read the offer conditions I was expecting that and more than happy to pay it. It would be silly to quibble about an extra £20 on a hugely discounted service to ensure it works properly, especially when it’s clearly stated on the offer details, no?
Like my cut, like the colour, love the keratin treatment. Would go back again and recommend to others.

I’m a SAHM mother of two living in Switzerland. FWIW as a follow up the Keratin treatment only lasted two months on my hair but don’t think that’s anything to do with the salon, more with the fact I run and swim a lot so it’s getting lots of chlorine and salt in it. Will still get another treatment next time I go to London and will get it done here.
Nice to know I sound professional/knowledgeable/dodgy though :)
I thik the hairdresser was called Jo .
Thanks for everything!

First of all I got a phone call 45 min before my appointment to let me know they were running late and that the same appointment had to be postponed for 45 minutes. I was ok with that even though had never happend to me when visiting other salons. When I got there I was asked to seat and the blonde receptionist with ponytail sat next to me to begin what it felt like a lecture on the Keratin treatment. Among the things she "taught" me, there was something that I did not like at all. She mentioned the £10 per ounce of extra product that they would have to add. But the hairdresser didn't even see my hair, so I wonder how she knew I needed more. I tried to enquire about this and she was actually rude showing that she must be getting the same response from other customers...and she doesn't like it! In the end she said they would have charged me just £10 extra no matter how many extra ounces (which is what the voucher states). Then I was put in the hands of Maria, who seemed nice but then, after whispering with the receptionist (you get lots of this in there) changed her attitude and twice told me that they were charging me "just £10" extra. They made me feel as if I was stealing their money just because I was using a voucher!! The French guy took over, thank god, and I actually liked my hair. The attitude of the 2 ladies no! Never again.

I emailed GF Salon to let hem know of what happened to me but they prob don't care as they did not even ackowledge receipt of my email.
The keratin treatment is not worth the discomfort. NEVER AGAIN!

Although I swim 3-4 times a week my hair still feels fantastic thanks to the advice given by my stylist on maintaining my hair and protecting it from chlorine and salt water.
Very friendly and professional.
Will definitely be back.

This is the longest lasting keratin treatment I've had and can only put it down to following the after care advice I was given in the salon and using the after care products.
Great team, very professional and very friendly.
Highly recommended!

I’ve been a client of Joe’s for the past 15 years…I followed him to Charlotte Street from his previous salon in Crouch End.
Joe cuts my hair (will never let anyone else touch it now!) and one of his senior designers does my highlights.
I enjoy my visits, catching up with the delightful staff and chilling out with my glass of wine knowing that I am in good hands.

Definitely highly recommend this little gem of a
salon in Charlotte Street!
I have had 3 Brazilian Keratin
Treatments done at GF Salons (2 on Groupon vouchers and the last one with one of their
discount vouchers) and would not go anywhere else now to get it done. They are
always professional and go through a very thorough consultation before each
application, with tips on how to maintain and care for it so that you get the
best result. Never experienced that level of attention to detail and
professionalism at other salons that have done my keratin treatment.
Now I have my colour done at the same visit as my
keratin – highly recommend you do the same.
My colour has never looked so glossy and vibrant.
I must admit that on my first visit I was a bit sceptical about
the extra ounces but when you take into account the fantastic discount you get
already, an extra £10 or £20 for gorgeous, healthy locks for the
next 3-4 months is well worth it!
After my first treatment I didn’t follow their
advice about using the shampoo and conditioner, but these guys know what
they're talking about! Having used the products after my second treatment,
the results speak for themselves. At £13.45 each with the discount they
give, they are worth every penny as they definitely help to reduce time between
treatments and they last me 3 months!!!! I'm actually saving money now on
hair products as the normal shampoo and conditioner I used cost about £6.00
each and I needed to replace them every month.
100% hooked!

For expert colouring, I couldn’t recommend the team at GF Salons more.
They made sure that I never left feeling anything but 100% satisfied that I got what I wanted – even though it meant being coloured and treated twice in one sitting at their insistence!
I've rebooked to have my colour done in 8 weeks - thrilled to be getting 25% discount with their rebooking policy.
Great hospitality and enjoyed the authentic Italian wine!

I had to pay for extra ounces, which they explained to me is not only due to the thickness of my hair but also due to the porosity of my hair (due to many years of colouring and using straightening irons) and have to say it was well worth it for the result.
I am using the after care products religiously. I love the mask and use it weekly as a deep treatment as well as a barrier to chlorine and sea water when I swim. The products are extremely reasonably priced given they last - I still have not finished my first bottle which I bought 2 months ago.
The staff were attentive and friendly and thorough in their approach. I will definitely be using the voucher they gave me for my next Keratin treatment when I'm next in the UK.

I visited Gf salons a few days ago and I’m writing this review as I was absolutely blown away with the high level of service in this salon! I had purchased a groupon offer to have a keratin treatment with a cut and blowdry for a price of £69 and was offered 50% discount on all colour services. As I arrived in the salon I was greeted by a very friendly receptionist who sat me down and offered me a selection of drinks including wine which was lovely after work :) I was then introduced to joe the owner of the salon who was going to be doÍng my treatment, he was very thorough with the consultation on this treatment and answered all my questions. I was then introduced to luca as I had decided to have highlights he helped me choose colours that were suitable for my pale skin and that were very natural as it was my first time having colour I was nervous but was put at ease by his confidence the colour come out fantastic! I then had my keratin applied so was in the salon for some time but didn’t mind as I was continuously being asked if I needed anything one of the girls even ran out to get me something to eat which I’ve never experienced before.. The owner joe was cutting my hair and when you put a pair of scissors in Joe’s hands he does produce magic!! He treated me and all the other clients in the salon like they were his guests and every member of his team are very proffessÍonal and i believe are passionate for their work and making people feel good. My experience overall was brilliant and my hair has never looked or felt this good!! I was given quite a generous amount of discounts for my next visit and will definitely be back with friends too!

Suprise! They’ve moved again! From Covent Garden to Hoxton. And re-branded the business (i assume to escape bailiffs and the many, many people holding vouchers)
Steer clear of this greaseball.
Last time I went there they’d moved to Ecclestone Street in Victoria whilst waiting for their new premises to be ready in Russell Square. I’ve had two brazilians there and a cut/colour (all through Groupon). Yes, they did charge me an extra £20 for the brazilians but they are by far the longest lasting treatments I’ve ever had and I never use straighteners now. The salon is not the most luxurious but I can live with that. The staff are friendly and seem to know what they are doing. It is annoying trying to get through on the phone which takes an age to answer, but I’ve found it worth it! Hope this helps.
