Review of Dunster Castle from 19 September 2012
A £27M attraction!!

That's right, in 'real' money this Castle and gardens cost the equivilent of £27,000,000, and you can see why.
Beautiful gardens and views, lovely Castle, superbly maintained by The National Trust, a'hidden' gem and well worth the relatively low admission.
Give the first compliment Compliment

Review of Dunster Castle from 14 May 2011

This place takes you back to the medievel times with the surrounding village of Dunster and the gate house, water mill and stone built bridges makes you wonder if the clocks had stopped back along time ago.
Visiting the inside of the castle was not my scene but worth a visit once, more the outside architecture and the gardens was better.

Impressive landscape gardens and plenty of adventurous walks, the gardens have a huge range of flowers and shrubs from around the world not only english plantations.

There is a gift shop on site for souveniers to prove to your friends and family you had been to Dunster castle, on the way to Dunster along the A39 from Taunton you will enjoy a very scenic route through the valleys of Somerset and eventually into Exmoor, bring your hiking boots as Exmoor is a must see if you are into the great outdoors like me :)

There is very limited access for wheelchairs as there are many steep slopes and many steps, advise checking with the National Trust first, as this is a property protected and taken into management by the National Trust, be sure to park your car in the village of Dunster in allocated car lots and then either walk or take the bus directly to the castle, the village welcomes visitors as its many a source of income for most.

On the same grounds as the Castle and nearby there are many festivals and fairs of all kinds from food to sporting events, musicals and art displays held throughtout the high season being April through September.
