Ill be honest she is great at giving Botox in the right places..she gives me an injecton under the eye that nobody else will, and it totally tightens my under eye bag area.Brilliant! Now im not one for chat and blah blahs when i go somewhere..i just want to get in and get out..HOWEVER..when i visit for 5 minutes I do not expect my 'doctor'to have the same approach! I actually feellike im taking her time up and shouldnt be there!!!Recent photos of Kate Moss visiting FPJ surgery prove shes knows what shes doing but she needs to realise WE spend more than Kate who, lets face it,probably gets it for free, and WE need to be treated the same! I bet she doesnt have Kate in 'n'out in 5 mins!

Im afraid I have to agree with the negative comments on this post.  I saw Dr PJ for lip filler and she did a horrible job.  When I went back to complain she was so incredibly offhand and rude, I was extremely p...d off.  Her lack of charm and manners, her unfounded imperious manner, might be tolerated if she produced fantastic results, but she didnt for me..which is WHY i now see the charming  and professional Tracey Mountford.

No-one should have to tolerate the way FPJ and her staff treat clients and I believe her poor reputation will eventually be her downfall.

Thanks for the recommendation of Tracy Mountford. Someone in an earlier post also recommended Dr. Stefanie Williams at Eudelo – funny enough I was reading a magazine on my last visit to the dentist called Cosmetic News [Nov 2012] both Dr. Mountford and Dr. Williams are mentioned:

“Dr Stefanie Williams is a dermatologist with special interest in cosmetic dermatology. She is an international speaker, lectures at University and has published more than 100 scientific articles”.

“Dr.Tracy Mountford is the founder and medical director of The Cosmetic Clinic. She has over 21 years experience in advanced non-surgical facial rejuvenation techniques and won the accolade of ‘Speaker of the Year’ at the 2011 Aesthetic Awards.

I would like to think here we have doctors who genuinely have a passion for what they do and care about each client irrespective of celebrity status or bank balance.

I will certainly be trying either Tracey or Stefanie next time and will let you know.

I feel compelled to contribute to these extremes of opinion.   I have been left with a sour enough taste to look up what people are saying about FPJ several years after being a client- as, clearly, do others.

That must surely say something – we can’t all be making it up. Both Ex-Client and London Girl55 have made points I can identify with.

Just to be clear – Annaskin – I had no problem with FPJ's matter-of-fact delivery during consultation.  I never sought “pampering, soft voices and a hushed environment”. But I DO expect (1) courtesy from all staff (2) to ask questions and have them answered clearly (3) to be charged correctly (4) to be able to enter a building when I have arrived 4 minutes prior to an appointment (5) to have the brief follow-up appointment included as part of normal client care and not charged! (6) to not feel like I’m being merely tolerated, and hurried out, from the moment I walk in.

While pleased with the actual results of treatment for a skin problem, I was affronted by the greediness, the hurriedness, the chaotic charging / price-misquoting – for one treatment I was quoted three times as much on the day, when I asked, just before treatment. When I expressed astonishment – I was told “so someone gave you the wrong price – anyway, if you still want to proceed, we have to start NOW” – no apology.

Vagueness when asking staff about expensive topicals being used during appointments – always being hurried, hurried – sorry, I may not be rich but I was paying enough to expect calm, professional service, not a patronising one – asking about what is being put on my face is not unreasonable.

The comments about the waiting room are not ridiculous – I totally agree it is important to be on time – but when I arrive 4 minutes early for an appointment at a clinic that charges top dollar, I do not expect to be asked to come back in four minutes. THAT is ridiculous. As is the supposed reason for the lack of a waiting room – to protect (celebrity) client privacy?!? Pull the other one – this isn’t what happens at other Aetheticians, and it makes no sense – you can easily bump into someone paying at the desk, or leaving the building. The reason there is no waiting room is because that would mean losing a small treatment room. It’s all about the money.

When, after several treatments I was due (as instructed by FPJ) for another brief follow-up to review progress – I was informed that they had “just started charging for them – that’ll be £90”. Seriously? Charging an existing client for a brief appointment which had previously been free?!  – and not a nominal fee – ninety quid?!? It was at that point I became an ex-client.  Appalling.

Some of the staff were lovely, some less so. Skin results: Good. Customer Care: Pitiful.  That is an honest and fair review - sorry if it upsets the best friends and family members who have clearly been deluging the site with over-defensive 5-star reviews...

When I ordered formula 2006 from the website, inspite of the £10 delivery fee it took 2 weeks. When I phoned up to chase to person answering the phone said they had lost the order. Another time, When I went to collect 2006+ and travelled into London specially as i was told they are not sending products in the post (having phoned up to check it was the 2006+ and not 2006) the receptionist was rude. After paying I went out an feeling that something wasn't right checked in the box, and it was not 2006+. Took it back, receptionist was dismissive and made out it was my fault and by the way, there was no 2006+ in stock despite me having phoned that morning and being told she would put some aside! Very angry as took a whole day out to go to London, phoned to check they had what I wanted in and made to feel like I was in the wrong. Clearly am not famous enough.

I've just come upon this website and felt compelled to write a comment for the first time.  I totally agree with all the negative comments and I'm not convinced that all of the 5* comments are genuine.

I first went to FPJ when she worked in Boots in Tottenham Court Road (when Boots briefly tried botox, fillers etc).  She was recommended to me by another doctor.  At this time Frances was pleasant, customer friendly and once she left Boots I continued to have infrequent treatments with her (mainly due to cost) for special occasions - I'm not a millionaire and I'm not a celebrity!  I recommended friends who did the same.

After a few years when she started to become busier and better known she seemed to don a 'can't be bothered with you / you're not spending enough money' attitude.  On one occasion in Harley Street a celebrity (I won't mention her name) was leaving her room as I arrived - FPJ with a smile on her face said 'oops don't tell anyone'!  She seemed star-struck.  I work in TV and wasn't the slightest bit interested.

I agree with the statements below that if you return for a top-up she doesn't like it AT ALL... this is offered as part of her service, therefore I don't understand why she has a problem.

My last visit was a couple of years ago, to her clinic in Mayfair, this was the final straw for me.  She was rude, condescending and made me feel beneath her.  I don't go to a Clinic and spend hundreds of pounds to feel this way.  Unless you're prepared to put £1000's in her pocket and fall for the shallowness, the looks up and down (no, I don't wear Prada) and the unpleasant attitude then go somewhere else.  There are 100's of fantastic doctors out there that offer a better service and charge less.

FPJ needs to remember where she started!!

All of the negative comments on this site are oh so familiar. A Doctor not a Dermatologist who had a few advertisments / reviews in a few magazines and totally believed her own hype. I dont care how many “celebs” she does, she was utterly useless with mine and I left her “care” looking a million times worse and downright distraught. Not at all interested in patient care only maximising profit. Always has to be right, despite being so wrong and failing to identify a fairly primary and well known skin condition. If you want to see a real Dermatologist who is thorough, compassionate and who will listen to you concerns, go and see Dr. Stefanie Williams at Eudelo, now she is fantastic.

So happy to find my friend and I are in good company having suffered at the incredible rudeness from arrival to payment of bill at Frances Prenna Jones establishment. She is good at her job and I was pleased with the results but follow up became increasingly soul destroying experiences. Really unpleasant people. The final experience was actually like a comedy sketch. My bill was significantly higher then I had had before. The receptionist said I didn’t know what I was talking about, good start. I said print off my bills then, the first one was somebody else’s bill that had got on my name in error, for a treatment thankfully I could prove I had never had and wasn’t in the country at the time. The receptionist didn’t give up or apologise, explained it was her colleagues error. We went back to my previous two bills which were indeed as I had said lower. When she looked at the detail she explained I had been undercharged previously (!) and went on to tell me that the onus was on me to check, and I should have worked it out from their price list and she added I should check my bill like I do when i go to sainsbuires!! Hilarious, the customer is always wrong, even when she is right make sure you tell her she is wrong, your wrong billing is also her fault…. I can’t imagine she retains her customers, at least they didn’t make me cry, my lovely friends last visit ended in tears…

Review of Dr Frances Prenna Jones from 23 January 2013

I find the negative comments left here laughable, and also I am utterly shocked and saddened as some people might listen to this slur and tarnish the reputation of a wonderful and thoroughly professional medical practitioner. I can only speculate as to what would be the reason for someone wanting to behave like this.

Dr Frances Prenna Jones runs a streamlined clinic where she practices result focused work with a fast and steady hand.

There is a huge difference between a beauty salon and a medical clinic. If you want pampering, soft voices and a hushed environment go to a beauty salon, and I think the whinging voices that have left the negative and damaging comments here must have been looking for just that, if you want targeted treatment to solve skin complaints go to a medical clinic-Dr Prenna Jones is the latter.

She is not softly spoken, her manner is fast and furious, she will tell you her honest unpolished opinion, she is borderline obsessive about her work and you can rest assured that if it can be solved she will find a way.

As for all this nonsense about her waiting area and being greeted on the stairs and running late; read her website! The clinic is upfront about the fact that there is no real waiting area in the clinic and you are therefore asked to arrive as close to your appointment time as possible. They run a tight schedule – big deal! Be on time! I have been a patient with Dr Prenna Jones for years and I have at times run late, most of the time I have been seen but have fully understood that if I run 10 minutes late for a 20 minute appointment I cannot expect to get my slot as there are other patients behind me. When this has happened the girls at reception have always managed to find me a new time in the not too distant future.

I would also say that I think her patients were grateful that she remained open when her clinic went through a major overhaul rather than close the doors, it was a small price to pay that maybe things were a little chaotic in the clinic to be able to still see her.

I repeat myself: Do not pay any attention to the laughable nonsense comments left her. Dr Frances Prenna Jones is the best in the business, she charges no more than any other medical practitioner in her field with her experience. Go see her and you will look the best you can-and without anyone being able to pinpoint what you do…magic!

  • Londongirl55, 10 February 2013:

I just found these reviews of Dr FPJ and thought I would add in my own thoughts as an ex-client. I find all of these 5* reviews around the same date highly suspicious. Did Dr Frances just discover this website?? and set about some damage limitation?.

I went to the clinic for a year or so; first appointment she was very pleasant and so I returned for Botox and some other treatments. It’s all fine while you are doing the treatments and ready to fork out without complaint, but the moment you go back because the Botox hasn’t quite taken Dr FPJ deals out the sulk treatment. " It looks fine to me" , “you wanted movement in your forhead” – er yes but I wanted it symmetrical. One time she just injected a top up into the centre of my forhead and sent me off. I went to look in the mirror and the botox was just under the skin left in a bubble the size of a 20p coin. Was I supposed to massage it in? The problem with the "post botox follow up " is that it is free. So she resents the time spent on it, especially if you are an unknown person rather than a celeb.

Some of these reviews mention that she is a dermatologist – but she is not. She was a paediatric cardiologist.

Also I can remember going for one treatment which cost a few hundred pounds and she also gave me a prescription for Tretinoin. When I was paying, I saw that she had charged me £70 just for writing the prescription on top of everything else that I had had done.

The problem is that FPJ has forgotten that she is a doctor; she thinks she is a celebrity, that you are lucky to get in with her, and runs her production line without the care that you would expect and sometimes without much charm.
    Pity…

Yes, well said Londongirl – Shockingly bad attitude regarding Client care, and I couldn’t agree more about the bizarre deluge of positive reviews, most on the same day. Clearly not genuine. Annaskin’s comments above, in particular, go to great (suspicious?) lengths in an attempt to discredit what unhappy customers are saying.

I have never written on one of these sites before but feel that I have to this time as a brilliant and respectful doctor is being unfairly slated! As a male patient of Dr Prenna Jones I have to say I very much appreciate the no nonsense approach that you receive in the clinic. The doctor is an absolute professional, she is discrete and I trust her 100 % to know what she is doing. She also knows that time is important! I could think of nothing worse than be dragged through hours of unneccesary 'faff' when all I want is to be told whats wrong, what I need to do and when I need to come back. Thats it! Stop these petty hurtful comments on here NOW!

I’m not sure what makes you think the comments are petty?

If people – quite a number of them – have gone to the trouble of writing detailed accounts of their negative experiences, it is clearly because they feel aggrieved, and have probably felt their own unpleasant experiences to be “hurtful”.

If you run a business where you charge people a lot of money but treat them poorly, they may feel compelled to share their experiences so that others don’t suffer the same fate.

The reviews seem fair – several of them, my own included, have stated that the results of treatments were good – but this does not mean we are cannot also point out that treatment of the client was poor. It is not for you to say that this is not the case – you were not there.

The end of your review seems oddly over-personal – I assume you are either a friend of hers or have a crush on her.

The beauty of seeing Dr Frances Prenna Jones is that no-one realises that you have! She is one of the very few doctors whose patients can be confident that no-one will wonder if 'they've had work done', instead they just look fresher, younger and with a better complexion. She makes you feel better about yourself and steers you away from procedures that you feel you should have if she thinks you look good just as you are - a rarity! Have always wanted to have botox but she won't hear of it! That said, I know that as soon as I do need a little help, she'll suggest it, and execute it in such a subtle way that no-one would ever guess. She's marvellous. Can't recommend her highly enough.

Dr FPJ is the best in London - bar none.  As I said to Enomismatheec (sp) below, I've been seeing her for three years for botox and whatever she recommends.  She is a genius - never does too much - is widely respected amongst my circle of friends and colleagues.  She is known as the safest pair of hands in London and is categorically the best.  People say 'you look great' when I have had work done - they do not say 'you look like you've had something done'.  The Doctor delivers every time.  She's quirky and proper and professional.

There are some very bitter reviews on this site, makes me wonder if they are competitors?

The lady in question is completely professsional and the only one worth consulting! It is very sad that these sites could damage the reputation of someone who only has the clients best interest at heart - I experienced a completely top notch level of service and my skin has never looked better as a result of the treatments recommended.
Take note and don't listen to the bitterness of some extremely sad people!

  • Enomismatheec, 26 December 2012:

Sorry, but as a former client/ patient I can only say that the “bitter comments” are very consistent with my own comments based on terrible experience and treatment by FPJ. Her staff less so, they seem like they are doing exactly as they are told, even if at times it was unprofessional in relation to keeping appointments etc. The defensive comment above seems like it may be a deliberate PR effort to counter some of the fact based reviews on this site. It is certainly no coincidence that the negative reviews I have seen here are so similar to my own. The issue with FPJ is not the quality of treatments per se, but actually the way you are treated as a client, and the fact that it can be extremely unprofessional and dishonest. In my case, I was told I was getting the same treatment I had asked for, and discovered that it was in fact a different treatment. When you are lying there, trusting someone with your face and they lie, it is quite a major breach of trust for a beauty clinic. I have several friends, one who had initially referred me to FPJ, who have also stopped seeing her because of similarly bad conduct/behavior . This is simply not acceptable in general and especially for a clinic that charges such high prices and aspires to a high-end clientele.

  • bunny09, 22 January 2013:

Without question Dr. FPJ is the best in London if not the world. I’ve been seeing her for botox and generally to keep my skin looking good for three years and she does a great job. Yes she can be quirky but she is the best in town and I’d rather have the best and be safe than anthing else. Lighten up people. Beauty is fun.

  • Ex-client, 29 March 2013:

Beauty is not fun at Dr FPJ! How can you lighten up when someone is being incredibly rude to you as you pay them for the pleasure?!

  • darklysparkly, 5 April 2013:

Piggie – your own review has a surprisingly bitter tone to it – accusations at the front and rather ridiculous insults at the end?! Like the review from Mansman – strangely over-defensive, which makes me doubt your authenticity.

Enomismatheec has explained perfectly what the issue is here, so I won’t elaborate – except to say, your rather childish words have the opposite effect to what you wished – rudeness only goads dissatisfied customers such as myself to speak up louder, to make sure the truth is heard.

I attended FPJ's "clinic" on recommendation of a friend. I suffered from from acute adult acne and was very emotionally under the weather about it. Sitting in her consulting rooms the first time, I found it very hard to contain my emotions, exacerbated by FPJ's overly brusque and cold demeanour.
I continued to have regular and expensive treatment over the course of the following 18 months to slow progress... I only persisted this long thanks to a really great therapist "Shiona". Later onm when I called to schedule further appointments, I was told my preferred therapist no longer worked there, so I asked for a consult with FPJ to get an update on where I was with my treatment, only to be told that FPJ was only taking appointments for "Injectables". I was totally flabbergasted and felt completely disrespected.
I have since found a real dermatologist and have had to basically start again with treatment. To add insult, I have discovered that FPJ was delegating incorrect treatments for my condition and these have left me with skin damage that may never be corrected.
I cannot stress how cautious prospective clients should be of Frances Prenna Jones. I do not believe she is indeed a bona fide dermatologist. As a cosmetic, aesthetic dermatological practitioner, proceed with caution, but do not expect anything beyond skin deep with this lady.
Sad.

Both these reviews ring true with me. I booked an appointment and when I arrived nobody answered the door (even though I was on time). I went away for 10 minutes and was let in. The receptionist said I couldn't have the infra-red light treatment (that I have had at a number of salons and does not need to be administered by a doctor) that I had booked as I needed to see the doctor first. This had not been mentioned at the time of booking.
Then Dr P-J appeared, in a frightful rush, very offhand, but deigned to speak to me for a few valuable moments. Yes I could have the treatment she conceded graciously, just this one time. So I had went into the infra red treatment pod for 20 minutes. I came out sweating as it was very hot in there, looking forward to using the pristine shower. `Oh no, you can't use the shower!' said the assistant, quite shocked at the very thought. `Nobody has ever used it before'.
This treatment is effective but I shall be doing it elsewhere in future. The salon is inefficient and the doctor rather rude (unless one is a Saudi potentate or celebrity perhaps).
I predict the good doctor's time in the sun will soon be over!

Please do not waste your money at this clinic. Dr. Prenna Jones is NOT a Dermatologist. I visited this clinic in the quest for good skin, resulting in a lot of time and money spent with very poor results.  I had many reservations about the treatment I received, but all my concerns were dismissed in a very condescending fashion. The service was brusk and borderline rude, a case of hype over substance - I was always given the impression, time was money, which came across very crass. I have now found a wonderful Dermatologist who is not only one of the best in London, but shows empathy and understanding to her clients and above all values their custom.

Review of Dr Frances Prenna Jones from 1 February 2012

I recently visited Dr. FPJ for the first time and I don’t know why I am going back. I had done some online research as well as talked to a few female friends to be sure about who I was going to entrust with the skin on my face. After nearly three years which includes the best part of a year on the waiting list, I finally got there. I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to get to the appointment to start the fisrt day of changing the damage I have on my skin. Once there, I was called out to by a woman who couldnt even be bothered to walk all the way down the stairs to greet me, instead calling out from the halfway mark asking if I was done with filling out the form. I wasn’t even sure who it was- I wondered if it was a look-a-like receptionist I hadn’t seen earlier. Surely a well known and credible dermatologist wouldn’t greet her new patient so unprofessionally? During the rest of the appointment, I felt a knot growing tighter and tighter in my stomach and the anger rising. She was borderline rude, definitely cold and arrogant and couldn’t have shown more clearly that she was completely uninterested. Perhaps I am not famous enough or don’t appear rich enough because I’m sure she wouldn’t speak to her older, richer and more famous clients the way she spoke to me. When it came time to leave she didn’t even bother to say thank you and goodbye. All the happines that I arrived with was crushed and completely evaporated. I didn’t go there hoping to make friends, but I don’t think it’s too much to expect a little kindness and warmth and most importantly respect and a decent level of professionalism. It doesn’t cost much to be kind to someone. What kind of education did her parents give her? I am hoping to find another dermatologist to go to before my appoinment in february so I can cancel with that miserable, graceless and unpleasant woman who I wouldn’t have any problem never seeing again as long as I live.

I turned up at 11:04 for my 11am appt after driving in insane traffic to get there to be turned away- very rudely- for being 4 minutes late. She treats her staff like garbage as well- they are all miserable and terrified of the very mini dictator. Her hubris is unbelievable. If you are a star, you get the phony smile and red carpet charm. I prefer genuine kindness and talent myself.

Had been a client of Dr. Frances Prenna Jones for more than 3 years. And I had been happy enough with the results to put up with the overpriced treatments and products and occasional diva-esque unprofessionalism. To elaborate on the latter, on more than one occasion I would arrive for an appointment to be told it was changed to another day or time and that they had called to inform me (which was a bold faced lie) or they simply would tell me that for privacy reasons they could not let me into the clinic because all the waiting areas were being occupied and could I go away and come back in 20 minutes!!!! However, the final straw came when I was lied to -I went to do a repeat of a treatment that had been successful in the past. Even though it appeared with a different name on the jar I was told it was the same product and that they had just changed the name. Post treatment results were poor and nothing like the first time. I repeatedly complained, came back in to see her and was told that maybe it was because my skin had changed which was why I hadn’t had same result. And told nothing more could be done. She sent me away keeping my money. Turned out she was using a different product on me (despite telling me it was the same). I since used the product I was supposed to be getting at another clinic, for a cheaper cost, with excellent results. Will never go back to FPJ and I have many friends that have stopped going as well because they have been treated badly.
