Review of Fruitstock, Innocent Village Fete from 15 November 2008

I had quite an enjoyable time at the Innocent Village Fete. Although I didn’t get to see any of the events like morris dancing I did get to see the Ukele Orchestra which was very interesting. The cakes from the Women’s Institute were also good, as was the Lonely Planet stall. On the way out we were given a free carton of Innocent Orange Juice which was nice. Would I go again? Maybe.

Review of Fruitstock, Innocent Village Fete from 15 November 2008

I attended the Innocent Village Fete this year and was extremely dissapointed. The tickets were expensive, and most of the activities (such as the welly wanging, morris dancing etc) which I’d looked foward to seeing I couldn’t because the crowds were so big! In the duck herding I didn’t get to see a single duck. Some highlights were the book tombola and some free smoothies, other than that everything was overpriced or we were unable to see it.

I didn’t really know what to expect from the Innocent Village fete but booked the tickets anyway and crossed my fingers for good weather.

I’d heard some people being a little cynical about past events (Fruitstock) i.e. complaints about the 'commercial’ nature etc, but I don’t really think those comments are justified.

Yes, the end aim here is to sell more smoothies, but I’m aware of that and I’d much rather give these guys my money that someone like Schweppes etc.

Anyway… It was a good day out. Welly wanging, ferret racing, morris dancing, coconut shy, lots of nice food and drink… all the usual country fete stuff but handily located in Regents Park.

We only got rained on once and it didn’t dampen our spirits one bit. I’d definitely go again.

I went last year and just felt like every single stall was pushing adverts at us. Instead of chatting to us about charities and stuff like that (which happened in the first year) we just had 'cheaper electricity’ pushed at us… t’was a bit annoying. They turned the whole place into a massive billboard.

I almost broke my leg on the helter skelter too, but that may have been my fault :-)
