Rumi lounge is an intimate cocktail lounge on the swinging Kings Road. It's reputation precedes it. This cool, urban hangout has long held an enviable reputation as a place to see and be seen, preferably holding a cocktail, and it really isn’t surprising – Rumi is chic but comfortable, stylish but relaxed, and buzzy but not loud.

Ruminate on this. A King’s Road club with an appetite for excess, a smattering of Chelsea socialites, an ogle-worthy Art Deco meets the Middle-East design and lovely lavish cocktails that’ll make a Sloane Ranger swoon. The name: Rumi Lounge. Rumi has been a party scene stalwart since it was first established. Boasting a relaxed atmosphere that still buzzes and a comfortably furnished lounge that’s still dedicated to dance – Rumi is far from pretentious yet maintains an understated glamour that continually draws a loyal and good-looking crowd. The cocktail menu is very well constructed with options including the Blood Orange (Absolut Mandarin with orange juice, raspberry and lime) or the Socialite (raspberry Stoli, vanilla, apple juice and Chambord) and they aren’t exceptionally expensive. Rumi Lounge also dishes out delectable Lebanese mezze plates so you can shore up your stomach against what will most likely be an indulgent evening.

Review of Rumi from 1 January 2012

I will never go back to Rumi ever again. I should have listened to the bad reviews that it gets.

I was out at Rumi’s for New Years Eve, I brought a lot of my friends with me and we booked a table with a minimum spend of £300. Towards the end of the night when I guess the bar staff assumed we were really drunk, they tried to charge money to my card claiming that I hadn’t reached the minimum spend. When I refused this and tried to leave the club, the two bar staff grabbed me and refused to let me go out of the lounge. My friends and I called the police and when they saw us doing this they then grabbed me threw me outside. I am a girl by the way, 22 years old. I asked to go in to ask my friends to leave with me, but they were already pushing my friends out, the bartender grabbed my arm painfully and started pulling me.

I not only feel abused by these people, I am considering reporting them to the police. I think they will try to charge a large amount of money to my card for which I will take them to court. I have been to bad clubs in London, but I have never been abused before by the staff.

Absolute disgrace. Worst night of my life!

Do not go. Seriously go to any other bar in London but if you ignore me like I ignored the other reviewers I can promise you that you will have a bad night.

What a way to start 2012, I hope this place gets shut down by the police, the staff at Rumi Lounge are criminals.

Very elegant, yet non-precocious place. Staff and Manager dedicated to making it a good night for you. The front door is a little too eager to be choosy, but if you have a problem ask for the owner, he’ll take care of it for you. Drink prices are average. No one is trying to grind you from behind. Lighting is perfect. Effort is put into the decor to exude luxury. Music is chill-out and up-to-date creative, easy to talk over. Free on Fridays before 11 if send them your names by email.

This smart bar serves (very) expensive drinks (although fairly strong), the atmosphere is a bit cold, but once the music gets going and the bar is packed then everything changes and is in full swing. Rumi attracts an older crowd than Crazy Larry's next door.
