Review of Zen Health And Beauty from 14 May 2013
This is my favourite salon in north london. I find the salon welcoming, nicely decorated, warm, friendly and I have returned for a number of different treatments. In particular i like the fact that they are a late night salon, so they can see me after work for treatments. I think the fact that you can text an appointment request to the manager at any time is brilliant too. A few weeks ago the manager Tara responded to my text at 11:30 at night to confirm an appointment time i couldnt remember; to me that goes far beyond the call of duty!
I have had IPL here in the past, my treatment was fine, i found the therapist to be informative and professional and i was happy with the results. I understand that beauty by joanna is a company that works in conjunction with Zen health and beauty to provide the more advanced beauty treatments, i would much rather have treatments like this with an experienced company that works within this salon than a young inexperienced therapist who has been hurriedly sent on a bunch of courses.
I will admit that i am not one for buying cheap deals on the internet. I have friends with their own companies who hate these deal sites and after having a couple of bad experiences with groupon, i stopped using any of these sites altogether. I would rather get the appointment time i want and to be honest, the prices for treatments here are so reasonable and the service so good that i wouldnt want to go back to using deals for luxuries now ive found this little Islington gem. I feel that with cheap internet deals people get treated like second rate customers, as the saying goes; 'you get what you pay for'. My luxury in life is being pampered and the money i pay for treatments at this salon after ive had a long day at work is not going to break the bank, to me its a good spend. I love their massages, just amazing!
My latest treatment here was a waxing treatment, which i combined with an eyebrow shape and a manicure. All three treatments were quick and comfortable. Altogether this should have cost £60. When i went to pay i was charged only £45. When i asked why the therapist told me that she was told to give me a discount by Tara, so i sent her a text to say thanks. Her text back said 'no worries at all we appreciate your loyalty. See you soon'...
Wow. How refreshing.

Review of Zen Health And Beauty from 18 April 2013
If I can give this merchant a zero star or a negative I would.  First of all do not go there and I strongly believe that those who are writing such positive reviews are one person and one person only.
First I bought a wowcher online for a six session of laser.  I was trying to schedule my first session but was told I have to do a patch test, which was fine by me, except that it took almost a month to schedule a patch test and another month to schedule my first appointment.  That should have been my first clue that I should stop but unfortunately I continued given the positive reviews (sure to be fake).

The night before my first session, they canceled my appointment through a text message.  I was waiting for this appointment for over a month.  I sent an email and called and complained and finally the second day I was given another appointment because someone cancelled.  Otherwise it was likely that I was going to have to wait another two months.

When I got to the salon, the therapist kept me waiting for half an hour because she was overwhelmed and was the only one working.  While she was doing my treatmenet, she did not wear any safety glasses, a sure sign that she is not a trained therapist and I should have bolted but I grinned my teeth and suffered it.

While she was doing the session, she left the room FIVE times, one time she left for more than 15 minutes to deal with complaining customers.

She missed so many areas and even though i mentioned it to her insisted that she knew what she was doing and that she did cover them.

when we were done, she told me i will not be able to schedule your second session until after TWO MONTHS.  I was upset and made that clear and decided never to return.

I complained to wowcher to get my refund, but unfortunately they did not refund my money because the merchant (beauty by joanna) refused my claim, insisting that they are trained and the only reason i am upset is because i did not get my preferred dates.  Are they kidding?

Not only are they not trained but they have no respect for thier customers.  The day i was there, it was heavily snowing.  A woman came in for her schedule session only to be told that the therapist who will be performing her session is not available because she is sick.  They did not inform her in advance and she had traveled for over an hour in the snow.

So at the end of the day, they are not professional and if I were you, i would avoid them like the plague.

Hi, as you may be aware already, Beauty by Joanna is a seperate operation from zen health and beauty. We only provide a treatment room to beauty by Joanna from Thursday-Saturday.
I’m sorry that you had a bad experience but complaints for beauty by Joanna are not dealt with by us, they are a seperate company.

  • celeneo, 19 April 2013:

My complaint is about BEAUTY BY JOANNA. since she is operating from your establishment and since the only avenue of complaint is on this site, i had to use it. I have no issues with your establishment or what you do. I have not had to deal with any of your staff. The only staff I had to deal with are those operating with beauty by Joanna. And my complaint is directed towards her method of work and her staff and customers need to be aware that she is not a qualified therapist and even the machines she use are not up to standard.

Hi, I can assure you she is qualified, she would not be at my salon had I not seen proof of her qualifications.

Response from Joanna of Beauty by Joanna:

Dear Client thank you for your feedback.

I believe the reason for your feedback of complaint is because you were unable to get an appointment on your preferred date. If you had read the term and conditions of the voucher thoroughly you would have notice that it states that appointments are SUBJECT TO AVAILABILITY.
I’m also concerned about your slanderous claims regarding the therapist not adhering to proper safety precautions during the treatment. Our staff are properly trained and highly qualified. It is unacceptable to talk about the therapist like that ,
You had the chance to inform the therapist that some parts of your body were omitted, you didn’t do that.
If during the treatment you felt that the therapist put you in danger, you should have stopped the treatment, you didn’t do that.
After the treatment you seemed to be content, you booked another treatment with the same therapist.

These are the main reason why we did not accept your refund claim.

We have a number of happy clients who return to us.

    Joanna Korycka

  • celeneo, 21 April 2013:

You are trying to intimidate me by stating that i am making slanderous claims.
As i have eplained to wowhcer and the case is still open that I have stated to the therapist that she is not wearing proper glasses which is unsafe and also mentioned twice to her that she is missing areas. If she seems to have amnesia, it is because she left the room more than five times to deal with complaining customers. From the moment i came in for my session until i left, non of it was professional You can sit here and try to intimidate me by stating that i am making slanderous claims but that is the truth. Also canceling on someone via a text message the night before the sessionand consider yourself professional is only a joke.
and me not getting my preferred date is not the only issue but i do have a problem when you take on more than you can handle risking the results of the procedure just because you want to make money.

all you care about is making money and not the customers satisfaction and i have every right to complain and ask for my refund which you continue to refuse.

the only reason i booked an appointment is because i thought i had no choice, but after thinking about it and that did not take long, i realized that i did not need to take this shit and i am better off getting a refund, because god knows when i will be able to schedule my other five sessions. perhaps it will be five months apart.

Also the machine you are using is crap and it left my skin extremely dry and i broke out all over my arm. if you wish i can take picture and submit it because they are still there.

Do i need to state more or are you satisfied now to issue my refund.

“Hi, I can assure you she is qualified, she would not be at my salon had I not seen proof of her qualifications. To call a therapist unqualified is a serious allegation, one in which you would only be proved wrong.
    Thank you.”

This is my opinion of her and my opinion is that she is not qualified. Being that this is a free country i can make that opinion based on my experience with her and my experience was not an ideal one and one that renders me to believe someone who is professional would have acted differently.

Hi, we can refund your course of IPL treatments but will first need payment for your patch test and the session you have had.
    Joanna, beauty by Joanna.

  • celeneo, 1 May 2013:

That is fine. You can do that. I am not sure how you are gong to work that out since it is a wowcher deal but you are within your right to deduct the first session and patch test.

I visited Zen Health and Beauty recently to have my teeth whitened.  I paid a very reasonable price (£149.99 to be precise), much less than I expected for gleaming white teeth in 1 hour.  The technician was very approachable and easy to talk to, the atmosphere relaxed and not at all clinical as you would expect if you were to visit a dentist. Well worth the money and would recommend Lorna to anyone considering this done.

I went along to this salon and had my eyebrows done (semi-permanent make up) by Jenny the amazing permanent make up artist, after seeing some fantatstic results from 2 of my friends. I am so happy with my new eybrows they look so natural and because Jenny is an artist the strokes look like real hair. You can choose which type you want natural strokes (which i opted for) or other as well as any shade. I then decided to go back and get some individual eyelash extentions as i was not happy with the previous ones id had done somewhere else and they were much more expensive, I cant believe how naturally full and long they now look and she only charged me £45.00, there are so many lashes on each eye.
Jenny is so professional and friendly , i found the whole experience very relaxing and i came out a much happier confiedant woman. Thank you so much Jenny, i will definatley be back to Zen soon to see you. (:

Review of Zen Health And Beauty from 31 January 2012

from sept 2011 untill december ’11 I have received some beauty treatment at this clinic and everything was amazing. I have pre-paid for a session of 6 massages which i have fully received ( really good ones)) and at the same time the masseuse propose me another offert to be used as soon as my 6 massages were done. so i have spent money for other 3 massages to be done between december and january. Apparently the masseuse has left the company with the particular laser-machine she was using for my treatment leave me with 2 pre-paid treatment still to be used. 7 days ago i called the clinic to arrange some appointment, being explained about the masseuse and left with a phone number of someone who should have replaced my masseuse; i have been called that number ,left 3 voice messages, re-called the clinic, went to the clinic myself and i explained that because i haven t received any signs of life from any of you, i want to claim my money back. No one has called me again… should i be worried? this behaviour is clearly not professional, i hope someone is reading this message and if so, i am sure you have my phone number do me a favor and call me to solve the situation . If you haven’t resolved this already I would go to the Citizen’s Advice and find out what your options are about getting your money back. Good luck

Hi Lucia, I can only apologise that the Harley street clinic where your treatment was transferred to didn’t get in contact with you to arrange your remaining laser lipo sessions. Some time ago I received a letter from my bank regarding your charge back so I was confident that you did eventually get the money you paid for your sessions back, albeit from my account, but that’s a matter for me to resolve with the Harley street clinic, if they still exist!!
Once again I apologise that the whole thing was such a long drawn out process between yourself, the Harley street clinic where your therapist moved to with her laser lipo machine, and Zen health and beauty.
