We are probably here about once a month on average.
I have yet to see a bad production here. The last two were Avenue Q and Goodnight, Mr Tom.
It would have five stars if the prices for soft drinks, especially water, were more realistic.

Recently refurbished the theatre is now bright and modern with bar and resturant areas.
Hosting a good selection of productions, from dramas, to musicals to the traditional panto at Christmas.

Not so keen on it since the refurbishment. A bit higgledy piggedly. The bar and drinking areas are huge but the staff are rushed off their feet resulting in a 15-20min drink for an interval / pre-show drink. Very poor.

What can i say! after the refurb, Theatre Royal Norwich is a bright, modern and stylish night out at the theatre. It has such a huge range of entertainment, from musicals, operas, comedy, plays, childrens entertainment and concerts.
The stage is not enormous, but a great size to make productions seem truly magical as well as the more intimate one man shows.
The seating is fantastic in the stalls and even on the back row you have a marvellous view. If you are sitting in the circle upstairs, please make sure you dont have a fear of heights as it is quite steep, and although the view is good still, you feel less of a part of the production (especially when there is audience partcipation - the circle audience either has to crane your neck or even worse, stand up too see the stalls audience getting all the extra fun!) but this however is reflected in the price of the tickets which can be sometimes double that of the stalls seats.
The dining/drinking experience is also great there, and you can come out of a play and get a lovely coffee, or quality glass of wine at any point.
the staff at the bars and ushers, are friendly, polite, well informed and well presented which makes the overall evening out more polished.
Nowrich is very lucky to have such a fantastic theatre, which stages fantastic productions from large scale touring musicals to music legends, the big names in comedy and plays and operas with fantastic special effects and costumes.

this is a great theatre - i have been pre and post refurbishment and loved it either way - although it is totally lush now its been made over.
the foyer is large, bright and airy and there are lots of flyers about forthcoming shows at both the theatre royal and the playhouse.
the bar is good, and whever i have used it in an interval I have been served quickly - we took advantage of the pre-ordered drinks during one visit, although how much it sped things up i cant remember.
refreshments are for sale also during the interval.
the stage can be seen from all seats I should think (not that i have sat in EVERY seat but I have sat in both upper and lower tiers and on both sides).
we got moved to the box for one performance as my husband had a seat with very little leg room (he is 6ft 5in, we requested erxtra leg room when booking so was disappointed).
it was a great gesture, but the view is restricted so dont book the box!

Have just been to the theatre for the first time since the refurbishment and they seem to have done a good job with it. The bar area seems to be much bigger and spacious and it has the usual range of drinks you would expect. There is also now a proper restaurant, although I’ve not been there so can’t comment in that!
Inside the theatre it seems that there is a bit more leg space than before (although this may just be my imagination!) They’ve also managed to keep hold of their big model elephant from the “Go Elephant” event if you want to go and have a look at that.
It usually has quite a good range of shows on, and the panto is just about to start if that’s what you fancy!
Something I really like about the theatre is that if you book tickets on line you don’t get stung for a huge 'booking fee’. You get charged p&p if you want you tickets posting, or pick them up in person for no charge!

From my visits here, Norwich Theatre Royal seems a decent theatre, moderately sized and with a nice atmosphere.
The cafe and bar appear to be good quality, and the staff are courteous and helpful to all customers.
There is a good variety of productions including comedy, drama and panto for all audiences.

to be honest, I preferred the place before the refurbished it… Maybe my childhood memories are rose tinted… Always good shows though.
