What a lovely place! The approach down Dagmar Passage is romantic in its own right, and the theatre itself is just wonderful.
The perfect setting for Matthew Robins’ latest show. We went to the evening performance which meant that the audience was made up almost entirely of adults, but this didn’t stop us from singing along, entering a “name the whale” competition to win a chocolate prize, and making scary monsters during the interval.
A very special night out.
Now in its 50th year, the Little Angel Theatre in Islington has been delighting families for generations with it magic puppet shows.
It has now teamed up with the Royal Shakespeare Company to bring Shakespeare's The Tempest to life.
It tells the story of supernatural spirits that lead young lovers and shipwrecked sailors on a chaotic journey around an island by a magician seeking revenge on his brother.
I have seen The Tempest before as a normal Shakespeare staged play but this production, with its hand crafted puppets and live music really give this play a three dimensional twist.
Though this has been designed with children in mind (and it is the perfect introduction to the Bards work) there is plenty for the whole family to enjoy.
At a running time of an hour and 20 minutes, it is just long enough to stop your little ones from getting bored but from the look on their faces and the applause at the end, like me, I don't think they wanted this fabulous production to end.

I went to see the Alice in Wonderland production last weekend. It was thoroughly entertaining, the effects were really creative and I was really impressed. I really loved it and I'm an adult so for a kid it must be insanely good!

This little theatre's been putting on excellent puppet shows since 1961. It's essentially geared towards children but great fun for adults too, and if you're inspired by the spectacle there are lots of puppetry classes at the in-house 'Puppet Academy'!
