Rivermead Leisure Complex, Reading

Big sports centre with good swimming facilities. There is a flume which is a hit with the kids.
good value for money too.
i play badminton here and there’s plenty of sports to try out with classes given for people of all abilities.

as i guess you can gather from the reviews posted, rivermead leisure is used for many different activities
i’ve seen status quo here, laughed at jim davidson here, celebrated my mother in law’s 60th here, & played 5 a side football here
it’s for swimming that i’ve used it most. every time we visit family in reading, my 10 year old insists on going here on sunday morning
it’s reasonably priced, & although you have to pay to park, you get the charge off your swimming fee
lockers are chargable; you buy a token at the entrance
the changing roons are unisex, average quality
the showers aren’t great
there’s only one pool which is beach style; the wave machine is turned on each 1/2 hour & is great fun
there’s one flume only, & the queue is quite ordally, with a wait of no more than 5 mins
there is a small toddlers pool with a slight slope for the liitle’uns to play on
finally, i have never found the pool to be unpleasant (too busy, too cold etc)
overall, we enjoy it & will always return

They have a lot of good bands play here. It’s a fairly small venue, which I like as I prefer more intimate gigs.

However, a couple of times I’ve been and it has been so oversold it has been really hard to get a good view of the stage. This also means longer queues for the bar.

They put portaloos in the Badminton courts instead of opening the regular loo’s, but there’s plenty of them and they’re clean.

The tickets are always usually cheaper than London gigs though, and the venue itself is only a 10 minute walk from the train station.

Rivermead is a trully exquisite place to go swimming, because of all the great features like the soothing wave producing machine and slippery water slide, you really would’nt wanna miss out on going swimming their.
