Great bar and very friendly staff. Had a great time here last friday. Would recommend you get here early though as it get's a bit crammed!

The service always depends on the mood of those in charge. And the bodyguards, especially the minority ones, are really the pits. Bear in mind that if they announce it's open till 4, the bodyguards may decide - if they are in a bad mood - they are not allowing anybody in from 3 am. I've seen some pretty upleasant scenes in the bar itself, involving paramedics and the whole male toilet being taken out of use. And trying to get a drink past midnight on weekends is like fighting your way to Serengeti in a Discovery channel movie...
All in all - if you're really desperate for the last drink between 2 and 3 am on weekend, try your luck. Otherwise, just chill out at home.

Fantastic bar, really nice atmosphere which for a late night city centre bar is RARE!

I’ve had the food a few times and it’s always lovely, sometimes takes a few minutes but it says on the menu that’s it’s made to order so you don’t mind waiting ;)

Some of my friends have had birthday parties in the venue upstairs, it’s a great venue and the buffets have been spot on.

Opened in the summer of 2004, Firebug has fast become an essential part of Leicester’s nightlife, as well as a quiet retreat from the city centre shoppers during the day. Our 100 capacity upstairs function room has proved incredibly popular for private parties, intimate club nights, live music and stand-up comedy, as well as photography and art exhibitions, independent film screenings and all manner of other events.



Over the last few years we’ve seen live performances from many notable live acts including Foals, Johnny Foreigner, Envy And Other Sins, Frank Turner, Rolo Tomassi, Frightened Rabbit and Youthmovies. In terms of comedy, Firebug has seen Stewart Lee, Richard Herring, Russell Howard and Josie Long, amongst many others, appear as part of the regular Bottle Rocket Comedy night and The Leicester Comedy Festival.

I wish there had been a bar like this around back when I was a student. It would have been a regular haunt. Its big, the music is great and its open late.

Firebug is a great bar to go if you decide to venture into town. It is open late (4am) and tends to be a good alternative to going to a club after the other pubs close. It has a good outdoor area, with heaters and some interesting furniture.

I always seem to end up here - by accident - I’d like to see what it was like during the day. I know it also has gigs and comedy events taking place on the first floor. It is a nice little independant pub - which is always good to have in a city like Leicester.

Love this place - loud rock music on a Saturday night, but relaxing cafe bar during the day. this place welcomes all young and old, trendy & run-of-the mill.
Beer prices are a touch pricey but not extortionate, and they do stock a huge range . And for a “rock pub” it is very clean - so sticky surfaces !!

If it wasn’t for distance (well, it’s about a mile from my house), this place would be my local. Your average rock pub it’s not - your feet don’t stick to the floor and you can actually see five feet in front of you. They have a huge array of drinks (hurrah, raspberry beer!), awesome cocktails, an eclectic playlist of indie/alt past and present - oh, and the food’s not bad too. The Sunday roast and the burgers come very recommended.

And that’s not to mention the beer garden, the frequent gigs, the lindy hop lessons (yes, you read correctly….). I like this place muchly.

Firebug is a sleek modern 'cafe bar’ style pub in Leicester city centre. It has a good selection of beers, spirits and wines and prices are reasonable. What really makes them stand out is the excellent food available, which is very competitively priced, additionally, if you are a vegetarian they also provide a much wider menu choice than available at most conventional outlets. Firebug’s niche is towards a more alternative crowd, which means it is a favourite of students. There is a very relaxed and friendly atmosphere, more so than many other bars in the city. There is also a second floor which sometimes hosts live music and other activities including dancing lessons in various styles. The pub quiz put on every tuesday is also extremely good and worth going to on a regular basis. If you are looking for a friendly, relaxed and more 'alternative’ bar in Leicester, Firebug is your place.

Great live music venue. Quite a “real” place - by that I mean that it’s not very “chainy”.
Good crowd. Easy to get to the bar. Lots of little areas to go and sit in. Good live music as well.

Fire bug is phat…yes i said PHAT. My misses fell off a stool outside and nearly knocked herself out but she is well’ard and just laughed it off. Seriously though this is a well chilled out bar in the summer and you can sit outside and everything and they have umberella n stuff…sweet. I like the beer too.

Firebug is a student friendly independent pub in leicester city center. Its a large pub with two floors and has live music on some nights. The bar area is vast and they have a decent collection of beers and spirits, which are usually served to a decent standard. Free wireless internet is available. Food is served daily however can be a bit touch and go, sunday lunch is offered however i am yet to try.
