Fun beer garden, really nice atmosphere in summer, recommended!!

I guess it is one of the best Biergarten in Berlin! Quite a bit of choice for beers and food of fair price + good quality. Really an excellent place for chatting with friends outdoor in summer time, enjoy!

Inside restaurant is regular german restaurant,boring,overpriced but big portions.Outside garden is beautiful and it was joy to go there,even when I though beer is quite overpriced.This year they raised price for beer even more,so now 3.50 euros for 0.4 glass of beer I dont find reasonable and as that place is about nothing else but beer (soda,bad wine is only drink choice),I lost interest to go there.Dogs allowed on leash.

Prater is a lovely place to go in the summer and especially to take visitors. The spaciousness, the trees, so many people, make for a really enjoyable experience. I do wish there was a bit more on offer drinks wise (at least a vodka tonic, or a few different types of beers), but the setting more than make up for any minor complaint in that direction.

Ich hab das Restaurant zweimal besucht – im Biergarten war ich noch nicht, also gelten meine 5 Sterne erstmal nur fürs Restaurant.

Wir waren zu viert und saßen draußen (bei beiden Besuchen), einmal zur Spargelzeit und einmal im Sommer, und waren alle glücklich und zufrieden. Der Prater macht einfache, absolut geradlinige Deutsche Küche und ist dazu auch etwas teuer, ABER das Essen ist von sehr gute Qualität und schön zubereitet. Wir haben alle Happen getauscht und alle von vier Gerichten probiert und alles war Spitze. Spargel frisch und zart, zerlaufenen Butter golden und lecker, Schnitzel zart und knusprig paniert, usw.

Die Bedienung war nichts besonders aber auch nicht störend, und man sitzt auf der Restaurantseite des Gartens ganz schön an einem Sommerabend!

There are two parts to the Prater...a restaurant and a beer garden where food is served. My review is for the garden. The picnic table seating is appropriate and calming amongst the trees and small fountain. You quickly forget you are in the middle of a large city. It's unfortunate that the Prater missed an opportunity to create a likewise special menu. There's certainly nothing distinctive about the beers..pils, weisse, Berlin all brands available at most restaurants/stores. Brats, wieners, a pasta dish and a few other choices are served and also lack a sense of place. One would think that Berlin's largest (oldest?) beer garden would show some creative charm, but instead they parked an imbiss in a garden.

We watched the tragic Germany/Spain Euro Cup final here, only time I’ve been. Seems to be a great option for an urban biergarten. Well set up to handle large crowds, with four beer windows, and a separate area for food, which was tasty. All the basics: pasta salad, potato salad, fresh baked pretzels, bratwurst, etc, at fairly reasonable prices. Very large, so when they’re not hosting an event, finding a table should be pretty easy. Very convenient to U-bahn Eberswalder Strasse and the trams on Kastanienalle.

I have eaten here twice and have to say the food is wonderful. You can tell the food is prepared freshly because it takes some time to receive your food after ordering. But they bring bread and nice beer. Try their cucumber salad, it reminds me of my grandmother’s.

The Prater Garten provides a spacious drinking area to enjoy a beer or two during the summer months in Berlin, unfortunately for a spirit drinker such as myself that’s all that’s on offer if you want to drink in the garden.
There is another bar that sells spirits however you are not allowed to take the drinks into the garden area.
