Château Du Clos Lucé, Amboise

Le Clos Luce is the place where Leonardo de Vinci lived when “invited” by the French King Francois 1st. The residence is well signposted and is set in a large park with mature trees. The building itself is a nice three storey building with a lot of charm. But of course the most interesting is the inside, where models of Leonardo’s inventions are on display. You can visit his living quarters -still furnished- and go through the exibits. The place is child friendly, nothing too pompous nor technical. There is a very pleasant cafe on site, set in a lovely environmentwith a terrace in the park. There is also a souvenir shop which is quite tasteful. The entry fee is reasonnable compared to similar English sites(9 euros). We had a very good time and the children kept on talking about it for ages.
